I am schueduled for my lap band tomorrow!!! YAY! But I am moving from Wisconsin to El Paso, TX in a month. Need to find a fill doc.... anyone know/ like/ dislike one near there?

I am at 7cc and I couldn't imagine having anymore in my fill- but you have to remember everyone is different. Comorbidities, like Diabetes, do cause complications- but there is absolutely no reason I could think of that would have caused your 10 lbs weight gain without "cheating". It isn't worth the chance of band slippage, paying to have it repaired and going through it all again. I feel for you- that is no way to be treated, but consider that they are not angry at you but angry that you are failing your band. What types of foods are you eating? Are you hungry or bored? Do you push past FULL? Hope all gets better- stay on top of your sugars and your choices!!! I have reached a huge goal- down 40 lbs today. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Fills by a different surgeon?

I am in a similar situation. Moved for a new job RIGHT after I had my Lap Band placed, and I found a doctor to accept me. My new job said I have to get insurance on my own and pays me a stipend for it- but I can't get approved because I have a pre-existing condition of the BAND. Rediculous. I am getting healthier, not increasing my risk!!! Anyways, I pay for my fills ($150) out of pocket... $100 is norm rate and $50 extra because he wasn't the surgeon that did the procedure. I am happy and once I get enough fills (I ask for 1cc at a time to minimze coming more often for smaller 0.5cc fills) I won't have to get them regularly anymore. Just need the sweet spot. I have had 2 1cc fills so far... lost 19lbs total: 6 lbs each month with fill. Good luck!!! -
I find that my amount of food is not as diminished as I thought it would be- but I have only had 2 1cc fills... and down 19lbs!

how much did you lose before your fills--- in the very beginning? I had my surgery 3/2/11. a total of 18lbs down from highest weight but the last couple days, no change. I am able to eat more. about 1/2c or a smidge more on occasions. When did you start getting fills?

Hi- I am ALMOST 28 years old, moving to a new city across the country from my friends and family, and would love the support of someone who had a band. I am going to Texas... so FYI =)

had a great day! No pain meds and I had food- and it was gooood. I was convinced I'd be able to eat an entire pizza if it was offered to me, but 5 and a half fat free ravioli's mushed up was IT. I was FULL!!!!! Yay band!

wow- your results are amazing. I can only assume your interest in running came with dramatic weight loss, right? I couldn't even imagine getting to 126 lbs, and I started at 264... but you are truly an inspiration. What got you going with excersize?
