Jazzy Rayne reacted to The Icy One in 3 days post op.. So nauseous, help?
Bother your doc. That is what he gets paid the very big bucks for! You need an anti nausea med. You should not be vomiting. My surgeon prescribed me a good one. He is adamant that his patients not vomit. I didn't need mine right after surgery but it is coming in handy now, when my gallbladder acts like an a*sshole and I feel sick.
Never feel guilty about asking your doctor to give you the medical care and attention you need. That is what they are there for. If they are unwilling to step up, we have the power to go elsewhere.

How is everyone? I'm finally feeling pretty good. I'm in the "full liquid" phase through Wednesday, then I get to start puréed. I surely wasn't expecting such a drastic weight loss this early on. I've lost 13 lbs since my preop appt on 12/3. I hope I can keep it off as I progress to real food. I weighed 287 when I started this process in May, now I'm down to 245. I haven't been this "little" since 2006. Exciting times!

My ride home post surgery was almost two hours. Happily, hubbie did his best to avoid the worst bumps and nasty spots on the road and we have a fairly comfy car so the ride home wasn't bad, at all. A requested extra bump of pain med before I left the surgical center helped, as well.

Good luck with journey...at least for me..Understand the things that I figured out: YOUR GOING TO BE SWOLLEN!! Still get your intake of liquids. Those are very much needed. TAKE SOME TYPE OF PAIN MEDS..I only used my Hydrocodone once..and thought since Im not in that much pain that I dont need it..But at least take Ibuprophen. It will help with the swelling and the pain. WHEN YOU ALLOWED TO EAT!! .....EAT!! I went into my first post op appt..thinking everything was getting stuck, and that I couldnt eat..and barely drink. Well..you can eat and drink..I had malnurished and dehydrated myself. As far as mushie foods....good luck..their gross..lol..I pureed some Campbells vegetable Soup...*GAG!! lol..
Good luck to you Mommy of 7.
    Merry Christmas!!

I have my Lapband surgery on 12/20/13...I'm having mixed emotions which I think are my nerves as it gets closer to the date. I was denied Lapband twice because of my bmi being to high but finally got approved this last time. Guess it's true what they say "3x's" a charm!

    Hi Jenn,
Welcome and best wishes for a speedy recovery tomorrow! I'm sure you have read all around here, but here are a few tips that really helped me through my first couple of weeks after surgery.
Ice Pops are a life saver and help you get the fluids in.
Warm Decaf tea helps with fluids, soothes and helps release gas pains.
Heating pad or hot Water bottle for under shoulders or back go help with gas pain. (do not put on wounds)
For wound pain ice packs are the way to go especially at the port site.
Walk, walk, walk, nothing will move the gas out like moving and it will help the healing process also.
Ask the hospital or Dr. for some small medicine cups to sip from so your not overwhelmed with large gulps
Have some Tylenol on hand and fill script for pain meds if your doctor gives them to you. As well as Gas-ex or Beano.
Most of all give your self lots of TLC and give yourself time to heal before getting back into the every day grind.

I have decided to have my 10cc band replaced with the 14cc band due to complications. I am having surgery this Friday at 7am... And even tho this is my 2nd go around I've totally forgot what the healing and recovery process is like lol. I have a heating pad, gas x strips, pillows to sit up, broth, Popsicles , Water, and Protein Shakes. Am I missing anything ? I am so nervous that this go around is going to be painful. Has anyone else had their band replaced ? Was it much different from the first surgery? And did anyone else dr mention scar tissue removal? Thanks for reading.

Jazzy Rayne got a reaction from terrydumont46 in Going tomorrow to discuss lapband removal
Update: I went to see my dr today and he gave me two options. Having the band removed with little chance of getting rebanded due to scar tissue issues. Gaining all my weight back plus some and living with the fact that I didn't give it a 2nd chance. OR allowing the dr to remove scar tissue from my stomach. He' said with the smaller bands that scar tissue can form under the band causing restriction even though there is no Fluid in the band. He would remove the scar tissue and then replace the band with a 14cc band. He said it would give my stomach so much more room to breathe if I ever needed a full unfill or happen to slip. I really want to keep my lapband and try again with a larger band. I've just been through hell with this current band for 2.5 years and it's hard to focus on positive outcomes. I told the dr when he does the surgery if he finds scar tissue and things that would have caused me to vomit and experience acid reflux then go ahead n fix me up. But if he goes in and finds nothing wrong... I want it out. Bc that means my body just isn't accepting it.
    Any thoughts ?

Jazzy Rayne got a reaction from Funwthme63 in Severe Acid Reflux
I have had my lapband for almost 2 years (june 3rd will make 2 years) I have lost 75lbs. I love my band. However, I am having issues. Now, when people see "acid reflux" they automatically say... "band is too tight, go see the dr." etc. Well. about a year ago, i started having severe acid reflux, where i am actually waking up at night choking on it. Even sitting straight up to sleep. I went to my doctor, he unfilled me. I still had acid reflux, but it was taken care of by pepcid. I got a great fill and wham... the severe acid reflux is back. So he unfilled me again, did the barrium swallow... and seen i did have acid reflux even with out a fill. So he put me on protonix for 2 months, which worked amazing. Gave me a great fill... and kept me on the protonix. Which worked great for the first 3 weeks. Now... 1.5 months later i am taking protonix in the am 30 mins before i eat, then around 4pm i take pepcid and around 8pm im throwing up my food just to get relief from the acid reflux... not bc im stuck. Then i chew some tums, go to bed sitting up. I really dont know what to do. I made a dr appt to see my dr on the 4th to discuss this... but all he will want to do is unfill me. But my fill is fine. I never get stuck. And the thing is, my acid reflux flares up 1-2 hours AFTER i eat. I get that "stuck" feeling 2 hours later. I think whats happening is ... the food i eat is sitting in my pouch and slowly going through to my stomach. The acid is coming up and getting stuck in the pouch with the left over food. And i end up throwing up the food in the pouch.
Im at a loss... scared. I dont want an unfill nor do i want anything to mess up my throat, or band slippage. With all the fills and unfills... ive gained 16lbs. I recently lost 9 lbs with this last fill. So the fill is great. This acid reflux is killing me. Is anyone else dealing with this? I feel so .. blah! Any words are welcomed.

First of all, Congrats on losing 35 lbs. Those 35 lbs are gone and never coming back. Great job! I havent lost 150 lbs, ive lost 61 lbs and need to lose 40 more. We both have the same goal though, and that is to lose weight! You have taken the first step and that is getting the band. You will do great. Keep a positive mind, and make sure to take before pictures! I weigh myself constantly... and times where the scale is not moving i will take recent pix and compare them to my post op pictures... and i have a non-scale victory! Its amazing how your body will transform. I was banded about a year ago, so if you have any questions feel free to ask/private message me.

Jazzy Rayne got a reaction from mommieburger in Eating = upper back pain... ??
    UPDATE:
I actually made a personal call to my dr and he was able to see me sunday afternoon. He said that my pouch is very swollen and that is why my back is hurting. Needless to say, he completely unfilled my band. I will be unfilled for 2 weeks to give it time to heal up, and get fills very slowly from then on out. He said that if i did not see him, my band could have easily of slipped. So im praying in two weeks, everything will Iron out and i will be able to get a fill. I kinda wish he would have ordered a upper GI just to make sure there is no slippage. Im a worry wart, so i need to just trust him.
