  1. I'm feeling much better, still in some pain, but the Vicodin is helping with that. Just hoping that this works for me, and I see significant weight loss this year. Good luck in your efforts, lets keep each other motivated! ttyl

Thanks for the support. I'm a week out, and feeling better, but an still on the full liquid diet. I'm getting my appetite back, so tired of soup and Protein shakes, ready for some soft mushy food. Anyway, good luck with your weight loss efforts! Keep us posted.

    March 2011 Bandsters

Thank you to all the well wishers! I was banded 3/10, so I'm 5 days out and still in a lot of pain. I was in so much pain this weekend, I almost felt as if I had made a mistake. Still on the fence about that. I mean I want to be healthy, but I don't want to be in pain everyday, throwing up, having gas so bad that I feel I'm dying, or having the runs. Which I've had all of since last Thursday. Don't want to scare anyone, but so far my experience hasn't been the best. I'm getting nervous, because I have to go back to work by this Wednesday, and having the runs at work is not going to make for a productive day . I will tell you, the doctor that did my surgery on LI has placed over 4,000 lapbands, and the hospital I went to (LIJ Syosset) was supurb, their service and care was outstanding! I'm just in pain, and I thought I would feel much better by now, and I don't. Anyway, lost 10 pounds on the pre-op diet, and was 263 the day of surgery. But have been in so much pain, I haven't gotten on a scale since my surgery, and still don't feel up to it. I've been on Soups, teas, Protein shakes, etc., but I'm getting about half the amount I'm suppose to. Trying to take in more, but just not feeling up to it. Which is making me nervous, because I don't want to loose weight too fast, as that can cause additional problems, and I don't want to be mal-nourished. I've been walking everyday, but still only feeling slightly better than the day after surgery. But I'm still optimistic, just looking forward to getting off liquids next week, so hopefully that will stop my runny stomach. Hoping I feel better soon. Good luck to all you March 2011 banders!

    March 2011 Bandsters

I'm getting banded tomorrow 3/10! I can't believe it's actually happening. I'm scared out of my mind, nervous about everything from pain, to getting sick to my stomach (I never throw up, and don't want to with the band either), to not loosing enough weight. Hope all goes well, I'm hungry, have been on liquids for a week now, and my doctor wants me on 2 more week of liquids after surgery. Anyway, good luck all you March 2011 bandsters!
  5. Thanks for the support. I am very scared about the surgery, but even more so about life after the surgery. I'm nervous about being sick to my stomach, not fitting in with my friends anymore, feeling pain, having children one day, having people judge me because I've had to go through such extreme measures to get to a healthy weight. Please let me know how your surgery goes on the 1st. I'm wondering how quickly most people return to work, I've only taken off 5 days, and I'm hoping that will be enough. Good luck on your surgery, ttyl. -CJ
  6. My Nutritionist told me that the rules for Protein drinks are: - Approximately 100 calories - Greater than 12 grams of Protein - Less than 3 grams of Fat - Between 8-13 grams of Carbohydrates (dependent upon protein & fat content) The brands she reccomended are Pure Protein, Muscle Milk Lite, and Medifast. My pre-operative diet is for 7 days, and they said between days 1-6 I can also consume: - Carnation Instant Breakfast with skim or 1% milk, - Jello-O pudding sugar free, fat free, - Yoguart - non fat and no sugar added (i.e. Dannon Light, Stoneyfield, Columbo Light, Axelrod, Turkey Hill frozen, Fage, or Chobani Greek Yoguart) - Soups low-fat (3 or less grams per serving) On the 7th day: -broth -Jello - Ice -Clear fruit juice (apple/White grape) -Tea Pre-operatively, my nutritionist says that I should have 1200 calories per day, 175 grams of carbohydrate per day, 85 grams of protein per day, and 12 grams of fat per day. My operation is scheduled for March 10th, and I'm so nervous. I'm actually not sure if I want to go through with it still.
