  1. Almost 3 bags of potatoes. (10 lb. Bags)
  2. My name is Bob. I'm married and have two children. I was banded Aug 15. Starting weight was 376, now down to 347.
  3. I agree that it takes about 5 days for the gas to leave. I was banded on Aug 15 and I don't have any gas now. It's still a bit hard to bend over all the way, but getting better each day.
  4. What brand of potato soup are you using?
  5. I got banded on Monday. Didn't have anything like that happen. But I agree that walking around and heat pad give the most gas relief. I also think the warm liquids help. I actually like warm broth. Who would have thunk?
  6. No sodas anymore for me. I've been drinking Powerade. No calories, mild flavors, some good stuff in it. 32 oz or $.69 on sale. Really helps me get in my fluids. Crystal lite is just too sweet tasting for me now.
  7. Oh, I never thought of curry. That's so good with chicken and will cover up for the nonfat mayo I hate. I thought we couldn't eat grapes because of the skin. You don't have a problem with them? I love grapes.

  9. Walking ad heat pad helped me the most. Almost no gas on day 6. I agree that changing positions when sitting seems to help gas leave. I've found the recliner to be the most comfortable place. I tried some peppermint hot tea that also helped. Little sips.
  10. I'll have to try that Kraft fat free mayo. Wasn't crazy about Best Foods low fat mayo
  11. I'm 6 days post-op now. Banded on Aug 15 also. Gas is pretty much gone. Just a bit under my port. Getting tired of protein shakes, but no cheating. I do have a lot of sore spots left in my mouth from surgery. They bug me more than my stomach. LOL.
  12. I have sleep apnea and use a c-pap every night. It's considered a comorbidity, so it helps you qualify for banding. Also, I had to get a new sleep study for my insurance. I took my c-pap to surgery but they didn't use it. I was only there 4 hours and then came home. You may also want to try different masks. There are many styles. I use a very small one that just goes into my nostrils. Easy to sleep with it. It can prolong your life by many years. .
  13. That's a great attitude, bandpal. I just got banded on Monday, so I'm just starting out. But it's gone well so far with minimal pain. I can finally get out of the recliner by myself. LOL. What a thing to be proud if. But those stomach muscles were sore. I haven't ventured outside yet, but I think I will today. Really tired of those shakes though. Not sure if I can have coffe right now. They said we could in moderation, but didn't really mention the post-op period.
  14. I've been very fortunate. This is my third day pos-op. Never got gas in my shoulder, just in my stomach area under my port incision. I can see the bubble there, looks about the size of a small nerf football. It doesn't hurt much, just uncomfortable. The walking does help and just changing positions seems to get the gas to leave. I put a little lemon juice and a touch of splenda in my drinking water and that seems to help the tummy a bit too. Only needed pain meds twice. I'm still sleeping in the recliner and my wife, an RN, thinks that kept the gas from my shoulder. Might be worth trying. coughing sure hurts though. Hug that pillow when you cough.
  15. I was banded yesterday at 2:00. Came home at 6:00. Hasn't been bad. Incisions don't hurt at all. Not to much gas, just under my port. No shoulder pain so far. Walking really helps. You'll be fine. God bless.
  16. I came home last night. Doing well. Pai isn't too bad. Incisions don't hurt except the port a bit. Broth, popsicles and jello are going down well. Gas bubbly under my port is big. No gas in shoulder yet. Walking a lot does help.
  17. I'm leaving in a few minutes to go get banded. This should be interesting.
  18. Well, I go in today for my banding surgery. I feel very prepared after reading 100s of posts here over the last few months. Thanks to all of you for sharing. My surgery is at 2:00 pst. See you on the other side!
  19. I just had that last week. It is about getting your heart rate up. The quicker it goes up the better. I had to do it for 6 minutes. I was a bit winded and my throat was dry, but that was it. And I'm 56. I dent have to run, just walk fast.
  20. Welcome! I knew from the moment I attended the seminar at St Josephs that this was or me. All the classes were so informative. I get banded tomorrow afternoon at 2:00. I'm quite excited. I was asked to list every diet I was ever on. Most weren't supervised. Grapefruit, south beach, even lean cuisine. It all helped. Good luck to you.
  21. I received a call yesterday telling me I had to have a filter put in to prevent blood clots. (I had 2 my last surgery.). So with one day's notice I went in this morning at 8:00 am to have it done. They went through the neck, down the jugular vein. Placed t below my belly button. Absolutely painless. I couldn't believe it. So now I go in on Monday to be banded at 2:00 pm.
  22. Try St. Joseph hospital in Orange. They are a center of Excellence with a great reputation. I'm getting banded there on Monday.
  23. Try the Centrum chewables. They are stronger and have a good flavor and aren't too expensive.
  24. I'm on the same track as you. I'm losing fast on the protein shakes. Lost 5 lbs in one day. See my surgeon tomorrow for preop consult.
