  1. Take it easy, try to rest and heal, but also get up and walk a bit every hour. That really chases the gas away. sounds like you're doing well. I went home the same day and it was nice having my recliner. I slept in it or a few days because it was easier to get out of and less gas because I was sitting up more. Good luck to you!
  2. I was told shrimp was off limits as well. Probably some shellfish too. It can be pretty chewy. I think that's the problem. Hope lobster is ok though!
  3. I told everyone, family, church and school. (I pastor and teach in public school.) for me it was a great choice. Everyone is supportive and kind. I feel like I'm educating a lot of people. I think some others will choose to go this way as well. Last week my director called me in to go over some paperwork and while there she asked if my energy level was up, did I feel better, was there anything they could do for me. I was really taken aback by the kindness. They feel I am going to be a better, more active teacher because of what I have done and I agree. I think it will just get better. I know we are all different, but we are here helping each other and there are many not here who could use our help as well.
  4. The pain should lessen every day. Keep walking, that helps more than anything. Good luck!
  5. My experience after surgery was good. Hope yours is too. Walk around a lt. It really helps the gas.
  6. My first fill will be in a bit over a week. I'm maintaining a loss of 35 lbs. but not losing. I can eat nothing right now, but I've managed to keep with the rules pretty well.
  7. We went out to eat yesterday. My first time since being banded. I haven't had a fill, so I can eat most anything. Had some red snapper. It was so good. I ate about half of it, some of a baked potato and some soup. I ate too much, I'm sure, but I brought more than half home. But I gained 2 pounds. Hope it was from salt. Back to regular small portions today.
  8. Same here. I had a hoarse voice after both my surgeries. Made me sound sort of feeble, but it got better after a few days.
  9. Heh heh, my belt is too big! I have to buy a smaller size. That's good news.
  10. I also would suggest a Cente of Excellency if you can. I was very pleased with them. The 1-880 groups have had problems.
  11. Isn't he at St. Josephs in Orange? I think he spoke to our class. I had Dr. Hamamji. He has a good office staff and did a great job on my. Almost painless surgery.
  12. Good for you! Good luck!
  13. Everyone's experience is different. I had 5 incisions, and one small one. The big one is the port. I couldn't feel it for a long time because it was so swollen. Now I can feel it under my skin. Never had pain from the incisions and not much gas either. I'm glad about that. Been good so far. I get my first fill in another week.
  14. They do taste great. My sweet for the day.
  15. That was my favorite test. I have GERD so it was just an update for me. But I got a new machine and mask. If they say you need one, try different masks. They make a huge difference.
  16. I'm in week 5 and haven't been very hungry or experiencing Baners Hell. Seems to me the stomach is still a lot smaller and that might be why. I can tell it's smaller when I eat.
  17. Yes Humming Bird. . I was sure happy. I do feel a lot better and don't miss the sweets or bad foods from before.
  18. My Nut said a cup in the morning is fine. Just don't drink it all day. Moderation is the key. And not hard to keep coffee calorie free or very low.
  19. I never pureed anything. There was lots to eat. Tuna, cottage cheese, yogurt, soups, pudding, jello, moist fish, chicken salad etc.
  20. I'm the same. In my 5th week and i can eat anything and I can eat much more than 4 oz at a time, but I'm trying to stick to that amount. I don't really get hungry much. Not losing weight but have maintained the 35 lbs I lost pre and post op. but I feel great and looking forward to a fill next week.
  21. Hi everyone. I was banded on 8/15. Haven't had a fill yet, but keeping all the weight off. I'm down 35 lbs. But doubt I'll lose much more until. Get a fill. I'm using the Mio drink too. Not bad. I'm pretty tired of Crystal light. Too sweet tasting for me.
  22. Non scale victory. A good that happens from the lap band besides just losing pounds.
  23. Ok, this sounds a bit crazy, but I went to the dentist this week and she was checking my gum health, you know when they assign a number for each tooth. Well, last time I had like 18 "4"s and this time I just had 4 "4"s. She said, "your whole mouth looks so much better in just 6 months. What have you been doing?" Well, I had been on my pre-op for 6 months and had changed my diet, stopped all sodas, sugar, sweets and started the high Protein diet. And I stopped all my meds about 7 weeks ago. She really thought the lap band diet had improved my teeth incredibly. Anyone else have this happen. I guess this is a NSV of sorts.
  24. Hmmm, I'm 4 weeks post-op and no fill and I feel like I can eat anything. I'm chewing real carefully, but I don't feel like anything could get stuck right now. Everything goes right down.
