    Lap Band Friendly Veggies?

OK, I've been doing well so far, I know mostly what I can and can't eat. I know I can't eat really greasy stuff, nor can I have fibrous foods, they get stuck. I'm trying to find more fruits and veggies I can eat, but I don't wanna go through the whole list, and end up getting stuck more than usual. So does anyone know which fruits and veggies aren't fibrous? I know I'm safe with corn, potatos, tomatos, peas, onions, peppers, strawberries, bananas, cooked apples, tangelos, mandarians, and cooked carrots. The ones I can't have are lettuce of any type, raw apples, broccoli, spinach, celery, and asparagus.
  2. I know my sore throat has nothing to do with the band, I've been feeling like I've been getting sick (sinus-wise) for a few days now. I'm just wondering if I can do what I used to do to feel better; take lots of Vitamin C, drink alot of fluids, and have lots of cough drops/hard candy on hand to ease the pain in my throat? I know the fluids part will be ok, just wondering about the rest...
  3. I've been trying to find answers on how much protein I need a day for optimal weight loss and healthiness. Again, sorry if this has already been discussed!
  4. OK, so, I've had my band for almost 4 weeks. Right before and right after surgery, I had 2 people tell me what it's like to have the band. What's best to eat, what's not, and they said that everyone vomits, it's normal. I haven't yet, and I hate vomiting, it's the main reason I got this surgery. Is it possible to be one of the few to not vomit at all? I'm just afraid of messing up! I make sure to not drink anything 30 minutes before, during, or after eating, I make sure to eat slowly and chew my food till it's completely liquefied, and I've been measuring all my food that I'm able to, to be 3/4 of a cup, or 6 ounces of food if it won't fit into a measuring cup. Also, I know this'll sound gross, but I have to know; Is it normal if after being banded, your pee gets more yellow? Also, I've been *super* thirsty after being banded. I'm pretty sure it's not because of my climate (I live in PA, where it's still pretty cold). Any answers would be helpful. Sorry, I worry a lot!
  5. Yup, I had one I didn't even know about, and my surgeon fixed it. Do you find that it hurts to hiccup?
  6. I waited 2 weeks. Besides, the end of the 2 weeks was Valentine's Day! And I agree, being on top helps with your stomach a bit.

    I'm kinda worried...

Yeah, it's bright yellow. That makes sense, since the vitamins are orange-ish. Ever since I started the 6 month doctor visits, I've stopped drinking soda, except for maybe 2 or 3 times. I've mostly been drinking water with sugar-free drink mix. I've also been making sure to eat as much high-protein low-fat food as I can. I've found that beans *really* help keep you fuller longer, most likely due to the fiber. Thank you all so much!! I know it's kinda cheesy sounding, but I finally feel like I've found a place I belong!

    Why did you get banded?

I did it for a few reasons. 1. I wanted to finally be healthy and not cringe every time I looked at my body in the mirror. 2. I wanted to be a healthy weight when I wanted to start having babies. and 3. My wedding is on 11/11/11, and I didn't want to be a super-sized bride!
  10. My God, you're so skinny! Total inspiration!

  11. I usually gain about 5 lbs water weight. Sometimes more, sometimes less, but it's usually a consistent 5 lbs.

    I'm kinda worried...

Thank you! Reading the responses helped quell my fear a bit! Also, I've been taking chewable vitamins. They're for adults 50+ because they were the only ones I could find.

    a silly little NSV

I feel like if I'm not careful, most of my pants will just fall right off my butt, they're so loose! Oh and also, for the intermediate stages, thrift shops and clearance racks!

    Banded 1/31/11

Hi. My name is Shelly. I was banded on 1/31/11. I'm currently on the "soft foods" stage in the post-op. I live in Johnstown PA with my fiance. We're getting married on 11/11/11. I've lost roughly 23 pounds since I started my pre-op liquid diet on 1/17/11. I like alot of different music, I love video games and quirky things. I don't really know what else to say. Um, hi all!

January 2011 Bandsters - Where are you?

Hi, I'm Shelly. I was banded 1/31/11. It was my first surgery, so I was pretty terrified! The doc fixed a hiatal hernia I didn't know I had, and I stayed over night at the hospital.

    Anyone from Johnstown, PA

Hey, I'm in Johnstown PA as well. Dr. Marley did my surgery on 1/31/11. I'm 25, and trying to find a workout buddy, too. I don't drive, but I walk and take the bus alot.

    Lady question :)

I actually got mine a day early. Also, I'm on the Pill, so mine is pretty regular. I had my surgery on Monday, 1/31/11, and the next day, I got my period. I usually got mine on Wednesdays, so it really surprised me.
