    ANY JUNE SLEEVERS OUT THERE???

June 6th here! Nerves are setting in. As for the Protein drinks; I have been using Muscle Milk chocolate and Atkins Mocha Latte (YUMM), Chocolate and new strawberry Banana. I have Bariatric Advantage powder but I can't get it to taste good - I add SF syrup, Crystal Light, Freeze it.. you name it. Bleh! I also have the Syntrax nectar sample bag and so far they are OK. I want to try one of the fruity cooler ones tonight for dinner. We shall see. *nerves setting in* (BTW I use Atkins bars for breakthrough hunger and it really helps!)

    Victoria Secrets

VS has brought me to tears recently. For my birthday my DH got me a gift card for VS - which I never - ever shop at! They do carry my size (38D) but only in select styles and it is hella-pricey. So when I saw my gift card I literally started crying. He had no idea and I had no want to explain to a perfectly fit man why this overweight girl doesn't want a VS gift card. So I held on to it for months and finally got tired of him nagging me to use it. So I did; I bought two bras - one of which I wear almost daily because it bumps me up to a DD - WOAH! and the other - a super sexy red lace number that has disappeared off the face of the earth! Oh yeah $125 for two bras - no thank you. I told him to please never - ever give me a gift card from VS again! Even when I finally lose weight, I do not want to shop there for bras. Shampoo (YES), body spray and perfume (YES) but bras - NO! Too expensive and no support. I am super worried about needing implants. I keep seeing it brought up. I don't want foreign objects in me That is why I wanted VSG over the Band (as well as a few other reasons). But I also dont want to have to roll up my boobs to create a booblet to fit in my bra. Do you think halter boos will ever be in style? Pull them up, tie them behind the neck like a halter top. Might work... LOL idk...

    Kentucky welcome

Finally made it in here! LOL. I am Heather and I will be Sleeved on June 6th (monday - eeek!) by Dr Oldham and Weiss in Louisville (Baptist East). I don't have any co-mo's but I do have elevated BP right now; maybe due to nerves about surgery IDK. I am trying [oh so hard] to stay on my pre-op diet of shakes and a small low carb meal. This is truly a test of my willpower! Jenn - did they give you a PPI post op? Also, I am kind of wierded out about taking the On-Q pump out of my skin... bleh! Otherwise, I am super excited and ready to start this journey!! I am praying for no complications. *fingers crossed*

    High Blood Pressure Pre-Op??

I suppose they consider it high BP because I am normally 120/80. But one thing I keep asking is - Could it be nerves about the surgery?!?! No answer. I mean, it can't be salt b/c I am on the shake diet already (and losing - TYVM haha). So my PCP just called and can fit me in on Friday morning. Not sure that is going to help much if he does put me on meds?!?! How long do BP meds take to bring your BP down? I am trying some meditation and relaxation today. Maybe I can get my DH to give me a massage... LOL oh a girl can wish right?!?! DH offered to slip me some of his BP meds... LOL... I know it is not medically "right" but... It is really bothering me that my surgeon is willing to post-pone my surgery over this though
  7. Old Navy does run a tad big BUT it isnt that the clothes grew, but instead you shrank!! A small/medium must feel great!!

What size bougie did they use?

My Dr told me he is using a 38 on me. He said it was because smaller bougie's can lead to strictures?!?! Well, like you, I worried that it wouldn't be enough restriction BUT hey 85% of the tummy is gone. There has to be a good deal of restriction with that. Don't stress the things we cannot change. Try to relax, enjoy your pain meds (LOL) and take one day at a time. Big Hugs!!! :hugs:

    GET OFF MY FAT A**

Are you getting enough Vitamins and Water? I like the Crystal Light energy mix - add a little unflavored Protein for a nice boost! I have even heard some people say they had to up their calories for a day or two to get back some energy. I hope you feel better soon!! :cheer2:

    "Jewels of June"

Curious - did your Dr prescribe a PPI for you post op? My Dr gave me all my scripts but no PPI for post op. Bougie size - my Dr will be doing a 38 French on me. How about you? Just wondering. Hugs, Heather

    Boughie size comparison

I thought I heard my Dr wrong when he said I would get a size 38 French. I am conflicted - is this good or bad?!?! I will be able to eat more than a typical 32 bougie but will I be hungry?!? Will I feel full? Will I not lose as well? Hmmm.. just things to think about I guess.
  19. Good luck on your surgery tomorrow!! You will do great and be on the loser's bench in no time!!! Big Hugs!!! <3 Heather

    What will I do now?

I think you have to change your focus. I am like you, I love food - it was entertainment and fun. I enjoy cooking and feeding people. Growing up, food was love. But now, we need to fill our soul with other types of joy - exercise, travel, gaming, reading, shopping etc. We will need to find something to fill that void. I am not saying we will never enjoy food again - we will. But finding something to take the main focus off the next meal will be important. I am reading the Emotional First Aid Kit and it really harps on changing your mindset pre and post op. You can do it! I have faith! :cheer2:
  21. Lonna, that is great. Slow or not, a 13/14 is nothing to shrug at! You are doing a great job. Keep it up!! HUGS!

    6 lbs gone, so quit?

I agree - you are so lucky! Your wife will be able to understand better. My DH is pretty fit - we met when we were both in the Army and he never lost that Army fit body! LOL (Mine flew out the window when I got out hahaah!) So yeah it is pretty hard going it alone, but I have VST and a few close friends. Plus my mom is like my personal cheerleader! I am really blessed in a way. And, maybe he will cheerlead when I am 'sexified' again Your date is coming!! YAY!!

    6 lbs gone, so quit?

WHAT? I told my DH that I lost 6 lbs on my pre-op diet and his response; "Awesome, now you don't need the surgery!" WTH did he fall and bump his head?!?! 6 singular pounds and I should quit this multi-year process? WOW. I am so disappointed. Top that with the stress of surgery in one week and yeah - I am frazzled. Sigh!

    Bariatric Advantage...

My Dr sells the RTD singles of BA. I tried strawberry - it was ok, and tried vanilla - BARF omg omg omg I couldnt make it taste decent! I added SF Syrup and even Splenda but really had to just drink it and not focus on the taste!! I bought samples of Syntrax nectar and they are ok. Neat flavors. Good luck
  25. Mayo Clinic says "Dumping Syndrome is not just for Bypass" and adds VSG to the list of causes.
