    Goodbye!

I have to agree with Sam. I do not get a slow load at work or home. You may need to defrag your computer. I have noticed that some of the ads do not load at all. I wish they were not there all together, because i hate seeing them, but I understand the site needs some sort of income to allow us to use it for free. So I gladly deal with the ads.... Such is life. Good luck

    Dr. Oz today

Lara, I watched it online and thought the same thing... why are they glossing over the reality? Dr. Oz is usually very good about presenting both sides of the story. I was also shocked that they only covered the Band. But I realized it was because they were focusing on the new FDA approval for WLS for people with a BMI of 30. This would mean someone that has much less weight to lose and the RNY or VSG would be too extreme for minor weight loss. I am glad that you are speaking up and showing Dr. Oz that the story was simple too one sided. I hope he does a show on the realities of the Band! Go you!

What do you think it is?

If you have Netflix, try watching "The Beautiful Truth" and "food, Inc". They are both very powerful documentaries about our food, the chemicals we ingest and the effects they have on our bodies - including obesity and even cancer! I really, really want to go completely organic post Sleeve because of what the food industry puts in our food.

    Having a few bad days...

Oh hun, it sounds just horrible ((HUGS)) I get massive migraines and take prescriptions for them, including Phenergen (sp?) to stop the nausea. I imagine the dizziness is from dehydration from all that vomiting L Not good. I have heard that the surgery will wreck havoc on a cycle; causing multiple or more severe cycles – thusly, increasing your chance for a migraine. I hope you feel better soon and try to get some liquids in to help with the dizziness.
  5. Thanks for posting this. I follow this board as well as OH. I did not notice the VGB vs VSG either. So I googled VGB and was shocked at the pictures. It looks like the Band with a ton of staples. Again, thanks for clarifying

    VERY frustrated at my doctor!!!

Hey girl, listen I went to my PCP and he [skinny as can be] put me on Wellbutrin. Ok, how many diets have I done, how many pills have I taken? When I asked him about WLS he laughed it off. So, fine - I went to a bariatric center and decided to go through them instead. They have done everything. They gave an imformative seminar, did all my blood work, labs, saw nutrition and even psych - all in ONE DAY! It was amazing. They even submit for insurance approval for you. I strongly suggest finding a Center of Excellence and moving forward without your PCP. *Note, you need a referral for insurance purposes. Good Luck
  8. Good idea adding the ramon spice packet. Wonder how many carbs in that...
  9. Carbs are worse than crack. Ok well maybe not, but it sure seems like it when you go through withdraws. Read this http://www.proteinpower.com/drmike/ketones-and-ketosis/carbohydrates-are-addictive/ Basically says the same thing you stated; carbs are addictive and require rehab! Thank goodness for the Sleeve and breaking the carb cycle!! Good luck
  10. WOW! Is he a bigger guy? Maybe he needs a partner in crime to be big with?!?! IMO - No way girl, keep that sexy post op WLS train moving!! Someone should love you for you, thick or thin!! And he should be happy that you are getting healthy Love is out there... good luck

    Finally got THAT call

Congrats Lisa :party4: One of the questions in my psych eval was "What will you do if you are denied WLS?" I said, "Oh I will keep on dieting, but do it like I had WLS anyway." I really wanted to say, "I will cry like a baby, stomp my feet, curse out the insurance people and act like a spoiled rotten brat until someone approved me!" LOL
  14. Sam, the booklet my Dr gave me (with pre and post diet, pre and post surgery routine, etc) gave directions on how to pull it out yourself  I would much prefer the DR take it out at the 1 wk visit. You can contact your Nurse Manager and ask what are the SOP for drains. Good luck
  15. Still poking around on here :) Still in insurance approval phase. Still waiting, waiting, waiting! LOL Ugh!

  16. The Band failed you? Errr. ok. I understand your frustration. Have you considered the Sleeve? The Band can be revised to the Sleeve or even the RNY. Worth checking out. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/

    Seriously?

Tawnie, "Stupid questions get answered" is kind of harsh. Something might seem stupid to you, but important to others. Anyway, I don't know if I saw your original post but sometimes they get lost in the feed if a newer post pops up in the same sub section. I will say, there are TONS of post on how to move the scale though. Many times the readers want to see what you are currently eating and doing for exercise in order to help address your stall. Examples: - drink more Water - watch carb intake - portion size - up exercise or change routine - increase Cals (if too low) - increase Protein Hope you break that stall soon.

Are We Doing Atkins After Being Sleeved????

Well the feeling I get from these boards is that most people are not doing Atkins per se, but they definitely count their carbs. I lost quite a bit on Atkins years ago, and really didn't want to go back to that way of living. I have heard Sleevers say that they don't count carbs, but their losses are much smaller. After following this board for the last few months, I have began to wonder if I should just do Atkins again. Ugh. Either way, I will be counting carbs with or without surgery. I just hope I don't fail like I did the last time I did it. I really hope the Sleeve is that extra push to learn to live without heavy carbs and helps me to help myself. :eyebrows:
