    Kentucky welcome

My sleeve is doing great...as of today I am down a total of 51 lbs. I do have a hernia that I am going to have surgery on next week, I think. but that should not give me too much trouble. Thanks for asking.

    Kentucky welcome

Welcome...I probably don't get on here as much as I should anymore but I'm glad to see more people from KY joining the group, especially those who have not been sleeved yet. It certainly does make it more exciting.
  3. I'm home...again.

    Soooo encouraged!

I have had quite a bit of pain, but it's not from my incisions or my sleeve. I had an umbilicle hurnia before surgery and the Dr checked it out to make sure there wasn't any intestine twisted or anything. Well the good news was that he discovered that the hernia was just fat tissue and most of it would go down on it's own. But what he left me with was a very sore and bruised bellybutton. It hurts more than any incision that I have. I will be a week out tomorrow and it is just now starting to turn purple. I guess that means it won't be long before it goes away, but I don't like that it was there in the first place. Other than that my recovery is going great. Depending on what he says about the hurnia thing tomorrow, I will probably go back to work the following Monday.
  5. Well here I am just 5 days post op and, against everyone's advise, I have been on the scale a couple of times. Well today I broke the 300 lbs mark. I am officially under 300 lbs. I can't believe it. My wife's favorite part is that I don't snore anymore. She said if I don't lose another pound, it was worth it.

  6. I'm going for a walk.. I have got to get out of this house.

  7. That is the incision that hurts the most for me too. but mine is tolerable. my wife tells everyone that I have a high pain threshold. I guess I do. I don't know but it just doesn't hurt bad enough for me to complain about it. What was the most painful for me was when they removed the drain. that was not pleasant at all. :tsk:

Congrats...I got mine yesterday. I didn't have a whole lot of pain and I was able to get some of my lunch down so they sent me home. It is nice to be home.

    Good luck July 11 sleevers!

Getting ready to go...is it really here?
  13. getting ready to leave for the hospital. I have to be there at 5:30. starting to get a little nervous I guess. but I'm ready.

  14. Well I didn't quite make my pre-op weight goal. I wanted to be under 300 lbs before surgery but this morning I weighed in at 305.4. Still that's down 35 lbs and I guess I still have a chance. Clear liquids today might just do it for me.

  16. I was approved by insurance before my consultation with the surgeon. The consult is normally two weeks before surgery but I pushed mine out to 5 weeks. I started losing weight after my consult so about 5 weeks now and I have lost 31 lbs so far. wow...that's the first time I figured how long it has taken me to lose the 31 lbs...now that I have said it, it seems like alot. Surgery is Monday...I'm excited.
  17. I guess I am one of those people addicted to the scale. It finally moved again today. It has been stuck at the same weight for the last 5 days. 4 more days and I get my sleeve. yay!!

  18. one week into my pre op diet. last couple of days have been pretty hard. feeling a little dizzy and queasy. sick of water. one week from today and I get sleeved though. feeling pretty good about my weight though, down 30 lbs pre op is pretty darn good.

  20. Is this anything like the old question "how much wood would a woodchuck chuck"? :drum:
  21. Someone that has more time on their hands than I do should put together a master list like the Jewels of June did.
  22. How about..."next time I need a little discouraging word, I'll know to come to you." don't forget to roll your eyes like that too...lol
  23. Day 1 of pre-op diet is in the books. I must say that it has not been too bad yet. Let's just hope it continues to go well. 13 days till my surgery.

    Spouse not supportive?

I kind of view this the way Dave Ramsey talks about convincing your partner to get out of debt. He talks about you hearing this guy on the radio and maybe reading his book and then going to your spouse and "beating the over the head with Dave Ramsey" with the Dave says this and Dave says that. You have to educate them on the whole process and make sure they understand why you are doing this.
