  1. Hey guys, just wondering what your weight loss is after 6 months. I am 6 months out now and have lost 95 pounds so far, but the last few months it has been dragging. I still eat between 600 - 1100 calories a day. Most days I get 80g + of Protein and keep my carbs under 30g. I exercise a few days a week and stay very active. I wear about a size 16 now (started at a 24). I would like to lose another 70 - 75 lbs, but would be happy with 50. I am going to change up my exercise routine tomorrow to see if that helps. I have been doing lots of walking and c25k. I'm going to start aerobics and weight training tomorrow and aim to do that 4 days a week. In my head I know I will lose more weight eventually, but I still get scared that this is it. How is everyone else doing?

  2. Yeah, I freaked out the first three months. I had really high expectations. I see my aunt who has been out 2+ years and she still loses a little here and there. I just take a moment to realize I eat way better than I ever did. I eat way less than I ever did. and I exercise way more than I ever did. I feel better than I have in years and look better too. I will be satisfied that this is where I am at this moment. And for the first time I will look forward to the future. chin up!

  3. Ugh, I used to get Migraines 5 days a week!!! post op I feel that they are alot better. I think mine a caused by stress most of the time. I get so tense down my back and neck and head and my breathing gets shallower that I need to focus on this asap to try to calm down. most of the time I don't realize I'm doing it until too late. my doc had me on all kinds of med, topamax, inderal, amitryptaline, etc.... they all helped to a certain extent, and then my migraines would start creeping up again. they are doing botox for me every 3 months now, a ton of injections in the forhead, temples, back of head and neck and shoulders. it seems to help, but it hurts like hell to get it done! we will see. I hope it works out.

To all fellow Migraine sufferers.... don't you just HATE the people who never get headaches?! lol

  4. My hubby didn't agree either. We went to extra counseling together and pretty much had to agree to disagree. Post op he is great. He sees how healthy and happy I am getter and more active.

I think it's crazy that your hubby is trying to take you off of the insurance. It's like pulling the plug. No offense, but he's being selfish and he probably thinks you are being selfish. I know your date is coming up quick. Try for counseling. It was my last resort, and while it didn't create world peace, it helped alot. Prayers for you. I hope it all works out.

  5. Highest band surgery day weight -270lbs (Oct 2008)

Revision to VSG surgery day weight -263lbs(June 2009)

Goal weight - 150lbs achieved in 6.5 months post VSG

Maintenance weight 125-130lbs ( achieved at 10.5 months)

Maintained my loss for about a year until pregnancy weight crept in and at 8 months pregnant, I've gained 23-25lbs.

Total loss with 140-145lbs (I allow a 5lb bounce in maintenance)

I'm 5'2" tall. I never experienced a true stall. I lost every week. Some weeks, I'd only lose 1lb and other weeks I'd lose 7lbs. The closest I got to a true stall (stall= no loss on the scale or loss of inches for a minimum of 14 days) was when I was in a few pounds close of hitting my goal weight, and I think I went 10 days with zero loss on the scale then dropped several pounds to get me to goal.

Hey Tiff, your results have been fantastic. When you switched to the sleeve, did you count carbs/protein/calories everyday? How about exercise? I feel like I have to change up my routine every week or so (diet and exercise) so that my body keeps losing. But I really only lose just after my period starts and then I hover for another month. :P

  6. I've read that skin can take up to a year to tighten up properly. I put on skin firming lotion everyday (it probably doesn't work but it makes me feel better :/ ). I am also working on arm exercises with weights and crunches. I know when I stick with those it seems to work pretty good.

  7. Yeah! I was amazed too! When I went in for surgery, I had my period and it had been going on for about 2 months. I lost about 15 pounds quick right before surgery doing sooper no carb and the day after surgery my period had stopped. I figured it was something to do with anesthesia. So 4 weeks later I am wondering where my period went and then I get it. And it only lasted 7 days. It did it again all these other months too! I didn't have all of the symptoms of PCOS, but ultrasounds had shown the cysts, and my periods have always been wack. When I tried the provera and clomid to start my cycle and try to get pregnant before, it didn't do a darn thing. It was very depressing. Have you been sleeved yet? I wish you luck!

WHAAAT? I can't even imagine!?!?! I also have a bunch or the pcos symptoms like facial hair and hair thinning on top and cysts/boils on my body. Did you have any of that? If so I hope it's gotten better! The pcos is the main reason for me doing this. I can't stand to live with all this. Plus my fiancées wife passed from cancer that started as pcos. Can you imagine?!? I could never do that to him again. Loosing his wife was very hard on him and being able to open his heart again only to find someone headed for the same place has got to scare him more than he let's on.

Looking forward to having a normal cycle!!!

  8. You guys are so right. I've been having little battles in my head of what I want and what I need. Not to mention my husband, who is 33, mentions it often and gets upset about the thought of being old and never having children, or being old and then having children. Part of his issue is that both of his parents passed away recently, he was only about 30 at the time and freaks out to think he'll only live til 60. I am about to turn 30, so I know I have plenty of time. I think the number is just getting to me. I am also determined to make my 30s better than my 20s. I am not mentally prepared to possibly have a misscarriage. We would be devastated. And I was unaware about the ketosis and fetal brain damage. I have decided I will wait. I will talk with my husband about this later. Thanks everyone for your input! While I am super bummed, I have learned alot from what you said. I don't want to do any harm, as all I could wish for would be a healthy baby.

  9. One of the main reasons I had this done was because I couldn't get pregnant when I was heavier. I had wacky periods, sometimes they lasted for 6 months straight, sometimes they were gone for 3 months. They were always very heavy. And even with medication for my gyn, I wasn't ovulating. Since surgery, I have had perfectly regular periods, and I've never in my life had that!!! I haven't had any kind of problems with my sleeve. I've never thrown up, and I make sure I don't over fill up. I would be happy enough to start having children, even if my weight loss slowed down a bit because of it. I am more than halfway to goal now and I realize that I'm not going to get to goal in 3 months. I would be happy with 2 years. Just so long as I got there. What do you guys think?

  10. The receptionists at my office were pretty rude too. I would be standing in front of them for 10 minutes before they would even look up at me. My husband was pissed and we told my doc's personal secretary who does all the surgery scheduling and insurance stuff. She admitted that they had alot of complaints and that she was sorry and they were working on it. It got a bit better over the past few months. :P
