  1. The receptionists at my office were pretty rude too. I would be standing in front of them for 10 minutes before they would even look up at me. My husband was pissed and we told my doc's personal secretary who does all the surgery scheduling and insurance stuff. She admitted that they had alot of complaints and that she was sorry and they were working on it. It got a bit better over the past few months.

    April 21st sleevers!!

Not so much. But I do housework like I've never done before. I have also become much more active worth gardening and going out with my hubby. I used to be a home body, afraid to go out in public.
  3. My drain site hurt more than anything else. And getting it removed sucked! But as soon as it was out I felt 100% better. awesome even. hope they take it out soon!

    Pizza

I've had pizza here and there, and it doesn't taste as good as it used to. Just had part of a slice yesterday and ended up giving most of it to my dogs. Never in a million years had I thought I'd ever do that! Bread doesn't taste as good either. Really haven't bothered with it since surgery.
  5. Yay! Don't be so hard on yourself! You are doing great!

    Upping calories to lose weight

I was super focused on counting carbs and protein and calories for the first few months. Like a maniac! Then I had a bunch of parties to go to and stuff going on and wasn't so diligent and I noticed I still lost weight because I stopped when I was full. I still drink my protein drinks about 3 a day. I seem to fluctuate for a bit and then drop alot over a day or two and then do it all again. As long as it's working, I'm happy!

    April 21st sleevers!!

I was sleeved 4/12 and have lost almost 78 lbs since then! I still have a ways to go, but I am doing great!
  8. Thanks for the add. Welcome to VST and good luck! :)

    This is soooo weird....

You know what's weird is that I just don't really like bread anymore. never thought I would see that happen.

    This is soooo weird....

I think the fast food craving was an easy fix presurgery. Now I try to make the most of what I eat. I tried some protein shot that were grape flavor. They make me gag just thinking about them. I stock up on EAS advant-edge shakes in 4 pack cartons. Only 2grams of carbs. Tastes good enough that I can drink 3-4 a day no problem.
  11. That's exactly what I meant. Thanks

    pre op diet FAILING !

I think people get crazy with the last meal mindset. I worried that i would never have pizza again, but I can. Just a little bit though. And that's all I want now anyway.
  13. I have a habit of running from cameras. I need to get a new picture up. :)

    Pre-op weight loss?

Hey Jenny, I hope you see this. I am just wondering how you are doing at this point? I had to lose 30 pounds preop and it was so hard for me. I think I just had a problem realizing that I could do it, so it was tough mentally. Let us know how your process it going!

    Pre-op weight loss?

    Probably a Greenfield filter.

    PCOS and the Sleeve

I'm sooo glad to hear about this. Hubby and I have been trying for a few years now and failing the meds really depressed me. My cousin just had invitro and it worked, but the whole procedure was agony for her. My cycles are regular now that I'm post op and we will try for baby again probably in the fall.

    Menstral cycle

My period has been sooooo regular postop, and it's awesome! I've never really been regular before. So, as per the norm, I get really emotional and have lots of cravings the week before. My weight tends to fluctuate a few pounds and stay that way for a couple weeks, then when my period starts, I lose a bunch of pounds after the first couple days. It seems to be the way I'm losing weight, but at least it's somewhat predictable.

    This is soooo weird....

I feel this way too. And it's awesome! I might spend a day running errands in the car and feel hungry. I'll look at Mcdonalds or something, know that I'd only eat a tiny bit anyway, and not go there because it's not worth the time and money to get something. Love it!

    Hiccups

I only get hiccups here and there, usually when I eat too fast or too much. They can last 30 minutes or so and it's annoying. But I'll take it compared to spending the rest of my life huge.
  20. My arms looked terrible and I was really self concious of them. Still am, but I started to do arm exercises with 3lb weights and have noticed a difference already. I do it about 4 days a week.
  21. Moving stinks, but a week post op and you will be fine! I went back to work after 1 week, and I had a bounce in my step. My energy level is getting better and better. By 2 weeks out you really won't be having any kind of pain. By end of august you'll be buzzing with so much energy you'd be begging for something to do! Like packing!
  22. I agree with everything Tiffy said. I have seen people turn it into kind of a mental illness, where they claim they can't eat anything so they don't. Part of the reason they are supposed to get a psych consult. If for some reason they couldn't, the doctors can do a procedure to open up the sleeve a bit.
  23. Totally agree that if one doctor won't refer you, just find a another doctor. Way to go on making the decision to do this! My own health has improved drastically since the surgery, I just wish I did it sooner!

    pre op diet FAILING !

My doctor wanted me no carb for 2 weeks preop. Completely. I didn't do so well and he cancelled my surgery on the day of surgery after I was already prepped to go in. He was adamant about not taking risks and the liver needed to be smaller in order to do proper job. I ended up bucking up and getting it done 2 weeks later, but it was a huge emotional rollercoaster. So glad it's done now.
