My surgical consult was with a nurse, very fast. I was given a date then and told it may be moved up.

I received my approval less than a week later, Dr. Soong is doing my surgery.

After, I attended the last seminar, there were a few forms to be signed. Now I'm just waiting to see if I'm moved up soon.

It's different for everybody depending on their insurance. There is a forum where you can ask based off your insurance. Or just let people in here know what you have :)

Where do I find the insurance forum, I looked and I couldn't find it. Can you tell me how to get to it.

  2. Well good luck. Did the lap band not work for you, is that why you are getting a revision and doing a sleeve. I had my lap band on for about 4 years and it didn't hardly work, every time they put Fluid in it was to tight, when they took it out no restrictions and I am back at the same weight as I was when I got the lap band. Ughhhh!!! frustrated but looking into getting a revision.

  3. Hi, I'm having a revision from band to sleeve on may 1st and my doctor wants me to lose 55 pounds before my surgery by doing the Optifast liquid diet. I'm terrified I'm not going to reach this goal in 2 weeks and I wanted to know how much people lost if they just did the liquid diet with no cheating. Thanks [emoji4][emoji120][emoji1373]

I am.looking into.doing the same thing revision from band to sleeve...was it hard to.get your insurance to cover the decision and then the sleeve.

  4. I was told by my doctor don't drink anything and half an hour beforw you eat and wait 1 and 1/2 hour after you eat. Which is hard, because everyone drinks with their food. I do find myself more hungry but I dont eat alot> Does anyone know how they should feel or how they can tell if someone has slipped, what I means is their band slipped. Reason I am asking is my sisters friend has had the lap band done two years ago and has only lost 20 lbs, still continues to get fills but not losing weight. Any advice would be great, as I am worried that this could happen to me. I have had my surgery done on 1/31/2011 and have lost a total of 19 lbs, go in for my first fill on the 9th of March. Will I start to feel some resistance.

    Thank you

  5. Maybe if you change the way you do things it will kick your metabolism in the rear, I heard that if you get out of your regular routine and add something different you will get it going again. Don't get frustrated because we are all going through it. Just do something different, like only taking walks instead of working out at the gym, and make sure to drink you 64 oz of Water and your Vitamins.

  6. Hello all my name is Dora and I was banded on January 31, 2011 and I go for my first fill on March 9th. I though my surgery went well, I checked in at 6:00am went in to surgery at 8:00 am. Don't remember anything execept them reeling me in to OR and moving me to a table after that I woke up in recovery. Woke up took me a while to get some Water down as my stomach was still bloated from the gas they put in me to do the surgery. But once I walked around the gas started coming out and I felt better, so they released me to go home at 3:00pm, but really did not leave until 5:00. I still have some pain where my port is, but other than that I am doing fine. Couple days after my surgery I was on the road traveling to a meeting out of town, making sure to keep water and Protein with me at all time. My appetite was not that good, so I just made sure to drink 3 to 4 Protein Shakes a day as I did not feel like I was getting enough nourishment in my body. To this day I am still having a problem of getting enough water in my body, but I will just have to make sure I carry water with me all the time. Nice to know about this thread as I did not know if anyone else had the surgery around the time I did. Good luck everyone on your new and improved way of living. :)

  7. I had my surgery on 1/31/2011 and I go for my first fill on 3/9/2011 and so far went in weighting 212lbs and to date I weight 193lbs. I followed the instructions that was given to me by my surgeon and the recovery was not to bad. Most of my pain was where the incisions where and a little gas problem, I walked a lot to take care of the gas and the incisions are healing great.

Congratulations on taking the first step to a new and healthy life.

  8. Hi all I am glad a came to this forum. I had my surgery done on 1/31/2011 and I do not get my first fill until 3/9/11. I am really wanting a cup of coffee I have been with out for about a month and I am missing that one cup. Does anyone else out there miss that one cup of coffee. My swelling has went down and I an feeling a lot more hungrey, but I only eat a small amount and then I make sure to put the food away. I have been eating mush with Protein in it, Soups, yogurts, jell-o and popcicles. It does get hard when I travel to make sure that I can find something to keep me on track, I do make it to the fitness centers that the motels offer and I work out for about 30 minutes whether it is on the cycle or the tredmill but I push myself to do that. I am starting to get more hungrey.

    Thank you

  9. I am scheduled to get my surgery done on January 31st in Medford, OR. I have been waiting for insurance approval for three years and it is grear to know I do not have to wait any longer. I have had so many test and appointments, that I will be glad when the surgery is over and I can start my new life adjustment. Geez think about it we have a second chance in our life to make better choices to keep ourselves healthy.

Good luck on your surgery if you havent had it yet.

    Dora

If you're planning on being banded in January your either half way thru your 6 month wait or you've just recently met with your surgeon and you're beginning your 3 month wait filled with dr appts and nutrition classes.

I have aetna and I only have to wait three months but it'll be filled jam packed w/ dr appts and classes, etc...

I went to see a pulmonologist last week and he wants me to get a breathing test, chest x-ray and sleep study. Saw the GI yesterday and my endoscopy is set for 11/5 and my cardiologist is Friday - can't wait to see what HE has in store for me - haha --- I'm actually excited to get this "work up of the stars" --- how many others are thankful for all these tests (cause when else would we get them done??)

My BMI is under 40 and my last two years worth of weights was around a 35 but I have diabetes and high triglicerides...hoping that this is acceptable for aetna approval cause I'm gaining and not losing no matter what I do - I presently need to lose 80-90 pounds and there is no way I could do it on my own with the diabetes and hypo-thyroidism.

I'm curious to know who is getting banded in January (My surgery date is 1/18/11 if approved). I'd love to hear your stories and concerns - anything at all --- just want to put together a group for those that are planning a new life style come January - I can't think of a better new years resolution!!!! ~Renee

  10. I understand everyones concern on who to tell and how people would react, but remember we are all doing this for ourselves. Each of us that has choosen to do the surgery has tried a dozen of diets before even considering this surgery. I know I have spent so much money on trying different diets and the most I have lost on the diets were about 10 to 15 lbs.

Having this surgery is stressful enough for us all, because believe it or not it is a big life change for us all. Just worrying about that is enough than to worry about what everyone is going to say about us having surgery. Also, remember that this surgery is only a tool we have to change our way of eating to make this a success and not forget about the exercise on a dailu basis.

Good luck everyone it is hard enough to put our life through this and then have to worry about what other people are thinking.

  11. Thank you all for your stories of surgery, it sure gives us all a little feedback of what to expect on our surgery day. After 3 years of trying to get my insurance to cover this surgery, my day has came. I am going in for surgery on Jan. 31, 2011 @ 8 am in Medford, Or., my doctor is Dr. Mark Eaton. It sure seems like from all of the stories the main problem is gas, nice to hear what you guys did in this case.

    Thank you

    Dora

  12. I feel what you are going through, I am on my second day of the liquid diet and it is getting hard I have been having headaches and I continue to do what my doctor says. I am scheudled for Jan. 31 @ 8 am in Medford, Or. I know it is a challenge and I knew it was going to be a challenge so I am not surprised this is how I feel. I drink four Protein drinks a day and I have chicken broth for dinner and it seems to get me through the day, I just hope it doesn't get old fast.

Good luck you can do it, because it is going to be well worth it......

  13. Hi Dani,

I to am getting ready for my lap band, I am scheduled for Monday, Jan. 31, 2011 @ 8 am in Medford, Or. I am on my 8 days of liquid diet and it is really hard, trying to make sur e to find the right Protein drink to use with a good taste not like a Vitamin taste. I am so excited and scared of this new change, but I am excited because I will be able to have enough energy to spend with my husband and children. Not only that will be able to look in the mirror and like what I see. Good luck in on your surgery I know it will all go well, I am sure you have a good surgeon like I do with well knowledgeable assistances to help with the whole procedure.

So it's Sunday already and that means I make the 4 hour journey to Phoenix later this evening! I'll be meeting up with an old friend and staying in a Motel for that night at the next night. My surgery is Tuesday at 2:00 pm and check-in is at 12:00 noon. =) I cant believe that 8 months of hard work to get this lap band is finally paying off! I've been picturing myself thinner and healthier and more active for a LONG time and I am SO thankful that I have been lucky enough to have everything go through with my surgery!

I'll be taking a robe, slippers, chapstick, tampons (i was advised to bring them just in case), some baby wipes, a camera, a hair tye, my incentive*sp* spirometer I was given at the hospital during testing, and of course my fiance and friend. I AM SO HAPPY!!!!! I can be healthier for my son! I can be thinner on my wedding day! I can be confident in everyday life!

I may not know all of you, or any of you personally, but I want each and every one of you to know that you're doing great! Whether you're going through the motions with your Doctor to have the surgery, pre-op dieting, post-op recently, or for years! We should all be proud that we've made a commitment to even get the band! I pray that my surgery and recovery will go well as well as everyone else being banded on Tuesday or thereafter!

Thank you ALL for your advice, support, words of wisdom, and stories of encouragement! One way or another your posts or replies have helped someone, somewhere!

    Love,

    Dani.
