Any March Sleevers?
missmeow replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I need to measure/track better because it seems I can drink a bit faster than that. That could just be in my mind. I kind of lose interest when drinking my protein drinks. I have not had any pain except at first at the hernia site and later when I forgot and drank a normal drink (not a gulp). It was fleeting but i Didn't do that again. Otherwise I kind of feel it slide right through? My surgeon did not give any rules just said to drink slow and get fluids in. My nut has 80g protein and 64oz combined fluids. I haven't quite gotten to the protein goal yet. -

Are most Sleevers Women? If so Why?
missmeow replied to MidnightBinger's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it is cultural. More women get cosmetic surgery too. Women, I think, have a bigger burden when it comes to being obese in terms of how were perceived and treated. Also, as others have stated, women are more likely to find social outlets to discuss things. The question really is if you want surgery or not. -

My surgery was around 1:30 Monday. I was home by 1100 today. Yesterday was not a great day but I'm feeling pretty good today. I just took a half dose of pain meds but otherwise have been pain free. I ended up having a hiatal hernia that didnt show up in the endoscopy. That has been what has been the most painful. I have found that drinking goes better when I stand up. I'm sure I looked funny eating my "lunch" of chicken broth and snapple standing up but I had too much gas pain in my upper abdomen so sitting just hurt. I'm glad to hear everyones story and wish you guys a speedy recovery. -

My neighbor and I have had moments of groaning duets, so day 2 does seem a big PITA. Not to mention my nurse didnt understand that I wasnt hitting the dillaudid button bcuz it was giving me some serious nausea. I finally got some other pain meds so its been sorted. The stomach gas is killing me. Im staying another night so I'm hoping tomorrow will be better. Hope everyone is sipping and feeling good. -

I got up and walked. It helped. I brushed my hair first since I look and probably smell like something else. My gas pains have kicked in. You me might see mec wandering the halls. Sorry they couldn't get it done for you this time. But I am sure they will find a way! -

I go in at 0730. I'm 4th. So there is someone in between us. -
I have standard and was told its one of the easiest to get approval for. Mine took a couple days. The office I go to does a good job of ensuring that they get approval, so talk with the insurance team at your office. You may need to just send in 3 years instead of 2 showing your typical weight.

Korean tofu soup is a good way to eat tofu. My favorite is silken tofu with chopped green onion tops, grated fresh ginger, and ponzu drizzled on it. It is low carb, low cal, and soft. I hope when I am sleeved I will be able to tolerate it bcuz its one of my favorite foods.

What did you tell people?

Because not everyone has supportive people around them or wants to share? Why is that so hard for some to understand? -
"Head Hunger"
missmeow replied to ..................'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it really head hunger or just the fact your diet is extremely limited at this point? Later on you will g et to eat those thibgs but right now youre healing so you can't. I think of head hunger more as habitual urges to eat based on previous patterns (e.g. feeling hungry at a movie because you associate movies with popvorn) -

If you're ever ready to tell people, most of us do end up having that repair. I'm not really big on lying but its really no one's business and if you have to tell a minor fib to keep someone from probing, then that's your decision. I have been telling people at work that I am goIng to be off (employees) or having abdominal surgery (supervisor). Most have left it at that. I'm a private person, especially at work, so it has not been an issue. My immediate family knows. -

We don't have a puree stage, just full liquids then soft foods and solids if tolerated at 4 weeks. Have you guys gone shopping? (New program folks) -

What did you tell people?
missmeow replied to jmendezrn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm saying I am having a hiatal hernia repair and using the healing time to jump start a liquid diet with my doctor--IF anyone has the nerve to ask. Post-op hernia repair looks about the same anyway--liquids and soft foods for a month or so. It shouldn't be too strange. I don't eat out with anyone except one friend infrequently so it shouldn't be an issue. I'm sure people will talk when the weight falls off but big deal. By that time I will be healed and not as worried about negativity. -

I'm pretty calm right now. I'm scared to death that I'm going to flip out in the hospital and regret it afterwards.
