  2. (*in my Rob Schneider voice) You can do it!

    [obscure Waterboy reference, LMAO!!!]

But I mean it! you really can. start out slow, learning the game as a non-skating official and then tryout when you feel comfortable. The best part is, there's a Team in almost every city! Even in Australia!!!

Woohoo for roller derby! Roller derby is totally badass! I would do it if I wasn't such a puss, lol

  3. OMG I just marched with my Roller Derby team in the Pride Parade, here in Chicago on Sunday. I walked about 4.5 miles!!! I didn't get too winded cause we stopped a lot. But MAN my thighs were swollen and bruised when I got home!!! I had to use cortisone and and ice pack. So I wanna add the thighs to my list.

  4. Im only about 6 - 10 lbs heavier than you, same height, BMI barely 35. Im getting the band. My goal is about 140-150. I get the same reaction from people who say "your not even that heavy" but im at the same time, people refer to me as "that heavy girl".

I love steak, am I am willing to accept the change in what I eat because it is these foods and lack of adequate exercise that keeps me at this weight. So keep that in mind. Ive also been on a diet for the last 5 months and havent really lost any weight. Ive been up and down. Hopefully the pre-diet will help you gradually adjust to the new eating lifestyle.

Hello I am looking for anyone who has gotten the lapband to loose 50 pounds, I am 5'5 weight 204 pounds My BMI is a 33.9

I have been over weight for the past 7 years, After a whole 1 1/2 year (16 months) I finally got approve, I was denied the first time, then the 2nd time I got approve, I am excited and bless, however I feel so confused :(

dont have no support, all my family is against me getting the lapband , telling me I am crazy, to get that just to loose 50 pounds, I have

excercise, eating healty, diet pills and once I get tired of dieting it all comes back, I LOVE food, I love to cook for my family, love having family over and bbq, and love to go out for dinner with my family, however It just freaks me out, that you can have nothing, after you get the band, It freaks me out, to know I have to chew chew and chew everything so it will go down one thing i hate is puking food, , I love steak I have heard you can even have that! or Pasta or pizza, I also love to drink beer, dont know just so confused :(

IF ANYONE OUT THERE COULD PLEASE GIVE ME AND ADVICE

    Thanks :)

  5. Awesome! You can do it! And you'll have so much fun too! BTW here's my list:

    1. Do the Susan G Komen breast Cancer walk

    2. Go swimming at least once a month in the summer

    3. Ride in the World Naked Bike Ride in protest of oil dependency

    4. Become a skating referee for my Roller Derby team

  6. I love that you have a weekly sport on your list. For the same Reason, I joined My local Roller Derby team, as an official. I thought is was a good way to be social (Im a bit introvert) and its a good opportunity to do something that is both fun and NOT SEDENTARY.

I get a lot of exercise in Derby because it requires you move around. Girls of all shapes and sizes participate as skaters or officials. You should consider the Awesomeness of Roller Derby.

So, I was thinking today about all the things that I want to be able to do once i reach my goal, and these are things that i'm not even going to try until then, so that its sooooo much more enjoyable.....

    Heres my list:

    - Horse back riding

    - rock climbing

    - go on rides at Canada's Wonderland and not get kicked off (believe me, this happened, and it was mortifying!!)

    - run 10km race

    - start a weekly sport to meet new people

    - get a head to toe makeover

    - surprise someone i haven't seen in years

    - try on my wedding dress (haven't put it on since that day, and its a size 26.... right now i'm about an 18!)

    Whats on YOUR list??

  7. The only problem I am having is with my psych. Supposedly they are experts at dealing with United healthcare. The website says my eval will be at their office. But I was given a referral to 2 doctors, who didn't take my insurance and costs $300. So I tell them and im referred to two more with the same issue. So I called my insurance for a referral, a giant hassle. I am still trying to get it scheduled.

  8. Hi! Im also going to Day One Health, but my insurance required a 6 month diet. Im on month 4 and Dr Elli was really great when I met him. I have heard/read good things about him.

  9. OMG i Know how u feel! 3 people at my job with the same insurance plan did not have to do a 6 month. Of course I did. =( i was so sad for abt 3 weeks. Im on my 4th month and i have been researching and getting other stuff done (like sleep studies, pych eval, etc.) you will appreciate this time. I should have all these things in time for my 6 month dietician appt. Dont worry, it will be worth it in the end! =)

  10. Thanks so much for the response! I was hoping some one would respond.

May I ask you, was he the only doctor you consulted with? How long did it take you from consult to surgery. i have a lot of time to think about this so Im keeping a list of questions, but more keep coming up... LOL!

    Thanks,

Hi - I just had my lap band surgery with Dr. Elli on 1/17/11 - and i saw him on Friday for a follow-up. I have had a very positive experience with Dr. Elli and his staff as well. I didn't want to miss a lot of work or have to stay in the hospital - so Day One was the perfect choice for me. It will be one week tomorrow - i am having normal stuff like soreness at the port site and a little nausea. Overall, i am progressing well. Day One has a monthly support group too on Tuesday evenings - it might be a good idea to attend to get more feedback from his patients. I have to say that I have been impressed and very pleased with Dr. Elli and his staff - you will have to deal with his staff as well! Good luck - I support you -

  11. I bought an E-Cigarette from 7Eleven and it was a starter pack with non-menthol for $20. it had the battery and 2 filters (equal to 2 packs). Then I bought Methol filters and That was $10 (equal to 5 packs for 5 filter). It feels very close to the same thing and its a good substitute.

Hehehe. I don't really even remember where I heard of it, but somehow I did. I've been thinking about it for a few months so just went online and typed into Google, electronic cigarette. A BUNCH of different ones came up, so I did some research and went with the one that seemed to suit me best.

The one I have is black, approx the same size of a cigarette, and a bit heavier, it looks like a Clove cig if you've ever seen one of those. It is essentially (forgive me...this will be VERY simplistic..) a battery with a light at one end that glows red when you inhale, I'm guessing they wanted to make it as much like a cig as possible. The battery twists into a heating element. The heating element twists into a cartridge that is filled with some type of fiber that is soaked in menthol flavored liquid nicotine. You charge the battery in the wall, or your pc via a USB cord. The battery charges the heating element, the heating element vaporizes the liquid, and you inhale menthol nicotine vapor.

Its pretty nifty. All the benefits of appeasing a smoking addiciton, without all the negatives. Plus, you can "vape" it anywhere. (Although, to be honest, I still get weird looks from people, and have since quit smoking it anywhere I felt like it..plus it fools my mind into thinking it is a "real" cigarette when I tell myself I can only smoke it outside, etc.)
