    Discouraged

Wow just based on your ticker you are fairly small to begin with for weightless surgery. When were you banded? I thought the exact same thing when I was banded but now after my first fill I'm feeling better and looking forward to my second fill so it is defiantly a slower process than gastric bypass but it is a process you work at and takes time to change your habits and your life. That is what I keep telling myself anyway...hope it helps!
  2. Well I got my fill...had my first stuck experience with a bite of a sandwich and not chewing well enough. Diet...well I have been out of town almost since then and all my meals have basically been catered out out to eat. So when I get home on Monday my diet focus will be 60-80g of protein and low carb. That seems to be the best way that I drop pounds. How you doing?

    Fill under Floroscopy

True, I would eat light though like mushy foods, yogurt etc. I went in the morning and she say to just take it easy with yogurt or cottege cheese for breakfast. It was all good.

    Looking for advice

Like she said all doctors plans are different. I was only on liquids for 24 hours after surgery then moved right to pureed foods for 2 weeks, then soft foods for 2 weeks. Best to call your doctor and make sure you are following their plan correctly!!

    Two post op questions

Your first question is yes! You can be sore on and off for a while. I am over 4 weeks out and just got done being sore around my port. Completely normal!! Question 2... liquids in equals Liquids OUT! Yes normal again! I had my first fill today and been on Clear Liquids and I can concur it happens anytime you go on just liquids. It will get better when you start mushies!! You are doing great!

    Got my First Fill!!!

Why do you want to not get fill's? At my office they say it is pretty typical to need a3-6 fills to achieve the "sweet spot", but everyone is different. My nutritionst said today that one patient she has lost over 100lbs in a year with only 1 fill but that is not typical. My energy level is actually pretty good. You might ty and up your protein intake. I am eating mostly protein and for the first time in a long time I feel like I am getting my swagger back! LOL Just have to put that energy in to some exercise now and I will be good to go!

    Got my First Fill!!!

I can feel a difference. I have had a cup of coffee and I am drinking water now and I am not hungry in the least and I was hungry going in to my appointment so yes I think the swelling has begun and I am all good!! They made me make 3 addtional appointments for 3 more fills. So I go back on April 19th for my second fill. Then 5 weeks after that and then another 6 weeks after that one. I have to say I am finally getting excited about this. I had lost enthusiasm for this the last 2 weeks since it felt like I was just on another diet. Now just have to get busy on the exercising!!!
  9. Check out my gallery... got my first fill today! 4cc's added to my 10cc band! What a weird process, but so neat to watch on the xray!

    Memorial Day Challenge

Frustrated! Need a fill bad! I have ZERO restriction and feel like nothing hass changed. I go for my first fill this friday. I hope that will help.
  14. Well as I spent the day carrying around and playing with my 10 month old I have not thought much about my surgery tomorrow morning!! I enjoyed 2 diet cokes today and I am weirdly calm about everything. Is that weird? Have to be there at 7:30am tomorrow morning and I am not nervous at all. Is that strange? Shouldn't I be?
  15. Ok I am 18 days post op and I feel absolutely normal. I have ZERO restriction and I am wondering what people are eating at about this time. No really what you are eating but how much. If I keep my food to a cup or less I am hungry still when I leave the table. So I have just been trying to focus on eating Protein and if I am over indulging it is on protein and mainly dinner cause I go all day white nuckling through and when it comes to dinner I am starving. I really hope it gets better. Otherwise what did I do this for? Should I be measuring my food and only eating a cup or less and just be hungry. I go for my first fill on the 25th, but is one fill really going to do that much when right now I feel like I do not even have a band in me? Also I am having pain or a soreness at my port site. Is that normal? I am a MESS!

    18 Days Post Op- HELP

I am on regular food now. I am not eating raw veges or steak yet, but basically everything else I am eating. I do try and eat a little all day and at first that was working great. I would have a Atkins shake on the way to work then a yogurt a couple hours later then lunch and another yogurt or something in the afternoon and then dinner. For the most part I am ok doing this and I am not chowing down at dinner, just eating more than a cup of food. Probably between 1 and 2 cups at dinner. I was expecting to eat like a half cup to a cup and be satified. Well it is not cutting it! I guess I just feel like I did before surgery and my weight loss has been at a standstill for the last week so I am wondering when things will feel different. And should I only eat a cup of food even if I am still hungry?

    No one told me....

My doctor said I can take any pill that is the size of an M&M or smaller just fine. I have been taking Aleve since surgery with no problem.

    Down 2.6lbs! WooHOO!
  19. Ok I was banded this past Monday and I am back to work today. My biggest complaint it I am SO TIRED. Like can't keep my eyes open tired. I know it is because of not having coffee or caffiene. Can someone give me tips? I have to make it through work and right now all I would liek is a corner to go curl up in and take a nap!! Help!!
  20. I was banded on Feb 28th and feel GREAT!! I just had my forst follow up appointment and aside from a little pain at my belly button incision I am doing great. Down 26lbs so far, but 10 were from the 6 month supervised diet then 10 on my 2 week pre op diet and 6lbs lost since surgery. I am now moved to soft foods which is so much better because the thought and even the word pureed makes me want to barf! Ready to start kicking Fat's ass and get some cardio in. Way to go Feb bandsters!! Keep on keepin on!

    feeling guilty

I was banded in 2/28 and I have been ok with my hunger. I think my trick is I eat a little bit all day. Like for example today, I had a Protein shake on my way in to work, then at 9am I had a yogurt, then at 11:45 I had some chicken salad and a sugar free pudding, then at 2:30 I had another yogurt (carrot cake flavor, yum) and then at 3:45 I had another sugar free pudding. In between all that I was chugging Water. I have been sticking to that kind of eating pattern since surgery and I have lost 5lbs since surgery. Believe me I have wanted french fries and ice cream too, but I watch a lap band sugery on youtube.com yesterday and seeing the brutal things that were done inside me I have refrained from eating solid foods because it needs to heal. Try drinking more water or crystal light. I have seen this post many times on this site, so you are not alone. I have heard this is the time you have to white knuckle through it. Remember that tummy of yours was just put through hell and back so be nice to it. Good Luck!!

Thank god for the lap band

WOW!! You are a rockstar! Congrats on such a great accomplishment! I was just banded last Monday and hope to lose 100lbs by this time next year or sooner!!!
  24. I just had my surgery on Feb 28th, this past monday and I had the same concern. I will tell you that after surgery you aren't in the mood to eat. Today I am 4 days out and I can tell I am healing fast. My doctor only required me to be on liquids the day of surgery and then move to a puree diet. I have been able to eat ham salad, egg salad, yogurt, soup, etc. The amazing thing is that after 1/2 cup to a cup you are full and satisfied. You still have yourold head playing tricks on you and wanting you to eat more so I suggest you measure your food and keep it at a 1/2 cup total at a sitting or it will not be comfortable!! So far I have been able to stay satisfied and not feel hungrey all the time. You have to make smart choices and it is hard in the puree stage because you can't eat a normal healthy diet. It is wonderful I must say and congrats on your up coming banding!! Time to start feeling good again!

When to plan to return to work

I was banded on Monday and returned to my desk job today. I will say in my dress clothes I was very uncomfortable with my pants and my incisions. I would recommend taking off longer if you are a flight attendant. There is no way you will be ok tugging your luggage around and all the bending and maneuvering you will have to do. Amanda, you will be good having surgery on a monday and returning on Thursday like me. I would recommend one more day though. I wanted to come home at lunch today. Good luck!
