  1. I'm 8 mos. post op. I have lost 48 lbs. I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes years ago. I am now off my medication. I have hypertension, I am off one medication completely and have decreased dosages on the other. My blood pressure has been in the normal range. I have dropped in pant size from a 26 wp to a 18. I have gone down 2 bra sizes and 2 shirt sizes. I am about to go on vacation to play golf. I am so excited. I feel energized and fit enough to get out and walk the courses. I have improved my golf swing because I have less body to work around! I am so glad I have gone through this surgery. There has been times I thought what the hell did I do to myself but now I am 'on schedule' with my weight loss. My doctor told me that I should expect 1/4 to 1/2 lbs weight loss per week. I have stopped looking at the numbers. I am working on my activity and food intake according to what I am supposed to do. I was skipping the daily protein snacks but found that's not the right thing to do. So now I am back on track and doing very well. To those who get discouraged (like I did) hang in there! Remember it took years to put it on and it will take time to take it off. Be patient! I am on the 2-3 year plan. I am in no hurry to get to my goal ( which is 40 more lbs) but I will get there. This is hard work, I am a stronger person! I am thankful for all the encouragement from my family and friends.
  2. 7 months post surgery and I have lost 50 lbs. I feel great. I was a size 26w now reaching size 18. I am so glad I did this. I have more energy, have not needed any diabetic medications and decreased my blood pressure medication to half. What a great summer I am having!

  3. With all the other advice you received, which were all excellent, I would also suggest that watch the medications you may be taking. Pain medications are notorious for giving people nausea simply because your are suppose to have food in your stomach before taking them. I was on liquid Percocet after my lap band and it made me awfully nauseous and didn't figure it out until I stopped taking it. I also am a diabetic and by the time I was more than 2 weeks post op I found out that my blood sugars were bottoming out and that was part of my nausea and dizziness. Hang in there.. once you get pass this it's all worth it. Sip, sip, sip your fluids.. try gatorade .. and if nothing helps get in touch with your doctor. Hope this helps!
  4. I am 56 yr old female, professional dieter, finally wanted to do something for me. Have all the 'nasties', type II diabetes, hypertension, and BMI of 45. Had my Lap band done on 1/10/11 in Pittsfield, Ma. Consider this the first day of my new life. Of course nothing went without a hitch. Had hiatal hernia repair along with procedure and then respiratory distress after being extubated from general anesthesia. Now I am 10 days post op. How am I feeling? Well, I trying the best I can on the liquid diet. I have no pain or discomfort. I am sometimes hungry, but am I? I have wicked nausea, lightheadedness and no energy. Of course, having surgery this time of the year is no help living in the Berkshires. It has snowed or something practically every day since and I am stuck inside. I sip, sip, sip Water throughout the day. Don't feel hydrated at all. The 30 - 30 - 30 rule is ridiculously hard. I am following the bariatric bible word for word. My blood sugars are lower than they ever have been. Just waiting to feel myself again.
