Hello,
My name is Cecelia and I am in the mist of my LapBand Journey. I have jumped through all of the hoops and I am currently waiting for insurance Approval. I had to do six months of doctor supervised diet (which is 7 actually), lap work, EKG, psychological test, physical and nutrition assestments, and meet with a dietician. I submitted all of the papers on Friday, September 25th. I can honestly say that this has been a somewhat smooth journey because my aunt had the surgery 7 months ago and I had her to lean on. My mother was on the wagon from the moment I told her, but my father and grand mother were a little bit hesitant. I now know why people keep their journey to themselves. I heard a lot of bad things and people trying to talk me out of it, but at the end of the day it was my decision and my decision alone.
As of this post, I weigh 307 lbs with a BMI of 52. This is the heavist that I have ever been and I am praying for a fast approval. I have joint pain and hypertension, which should be an added bonus for approval if you look at it that way. I found out a lot about myself through my pre-op process and most of them pushed me to make a change. I know that I have always been an emotional eater, but with school, work, and family it got worse. I would lose weight and gain it back. I felt like I was on a weight roller coaster. The LapBand System is the perfect tool for me after months of research.
I attended a seminar that Dr. Andrew DeWitt had on March 26, 2011 and I was sold on the surgery. I knew that I needed to have the surgery to survive. Being this heavy and this short is too much. I have always loved myself, but after I found out that I had high blood pressure and the added effects of being Mobid Obest I knew something had to give. So here I am, waiting, anxious, nervous, and anticipating the birth of a new me.

**UPDATE**
I got my approval today (September 26, 2011) and I am excited. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow and waiting on a surgery date to be confirmed. Wish me luck.

**UPDATE**
Pre-Op class out of the way and surgery is on September 30th. I'm a little drained from this pre-op diet, but I will survive.
Post-Op day 11, I weighed myself and I weigh 282 and thats down from 307. yay!!!
