  1. Welcome to the site everyone! This can be a great resource and support tool. I started out at over 280 pounds (I'm also only 5'2) and am now down to 196. I felt pretty hopeless about my weight but now I know there is no doubt I can lose this weight! My suggestion would be to start taking care of your relationship with food (especially if you are a binge eater) before you get your band. I didn't really do that and did great initially with my band but then regained almost 50 pounds bingeing on slider foods (foods that go right through...like ice cream and milkshakes). Ive since lost all that I regained plus more and am seeing an eating disorder therapist which is really helping me work through my food issues. Good luck to everyone considering wls!

Hi My name is Eileen, And thank you for your awesome entry. I was banded om 12/30/10. I am 53 yrs old and my highest weight was 384 lbs in september 2010. Ive lost 45 lbs so far with prep and my surgery. I was also feeling pretty hopeless. I remmember when I was 50, I had really talked myself into the fact that I was grossly over weight and that there was nothing

I could do. So i acutually was just going to eat myself into my grave. thank god that didnt last long someone introduced to me the Idea that I could have the lapband surgery. Well it took me three years to get up the nerve to do it. And I am so happy that I did.. Just remember your are never alone... Thanks Eileen:)

  2. I will get my first fill tomorrow, I am very excited. I have been eating more lately. Trying to take it one day at a time!unsure.gif

Good luck. I was banded on 12/30/10. My first fill is in two weeks im excited for it. I feel like Im eating more than I should also, So I can't

    wait for my first fill.

  3. I was banded on Wed and didn't really have much to complain about until this afternoon. I think I tried to do too much, too soon....we went house hunting and I was trudgin around in acre back yards in my snow boots! I found taking some tylenol and sitting quietly with a heating pad made me feel much better, very quickly.

Wearing a bra is still very uncomfortable...so thank goodness it's the weekend and I can just go without while at home :-)

Wow you are off to a great start. I just read your blog, You had amazing control for those two weeks on shakes. I didnt do that well the cravings were out of control. My surgery was 12/30/10 so I was supposed to be on the shakes all through christmas and it was hard i cheated alot. But reading your blog has given me the strenght to keep my eye on the reward at

    the end.

    Thanks Eileen

  4. Hi Mangie, I'm also new here and it is extremely confusing at times..lol. I was banded on 12/30/10 and have lost nine lbs. since surgery. Its

all so different. the liquid, the puree, the soft, and then back to regular foods...... It is a journey that I am excited and happy to be on... And I know you will be to.

I try to write everything down and make sure I at least get the Protein in everyday. Some time it is difficult, especially when your working or out shopping and stuff so

its good that you took your Protein with you... But i'm just going to take it one step at a time and I know I can make this work for me. Good luck...

Rachel, your so funny!!!! Good luck to you also...

    Humming Bird, You are awesome!!!!

  5. The pain from gas after this sugery is painful and yes you do have pain when you try to take a deep breath. A heating pad works good for this. But........... 10 days post-op I feel the same as alot of the others that have posted and you should seek some help. not to scare you but I had a Pulmonary Embolus after I had my hysterectomy and it wasnt fun. Good luck hope you feel better soon.

  6. Hello all! I was banded on December, 14 2010 so I'm a "newbie" :)

I actually am going for my first fill today and really excited about it!!!

I started my journey at 346lbs and currently at 320 4 weeks post op.

Hi! Looks like your doing well. I was banded on 12/30/10. Looking foward to my first fill. Keep up the good work..

  7. Congratulations on your surgery. Hope all is well and you are doing great. This site was a God send for me as well. Anything I could think of that I felt like I needed to ask, miraculousy had a thread about it somewhere. I continue to come almost daily and read up on other peoples successes, slips and methods for using their band.

Good luck and welcome to the best support place there is!

Hi mountainmama, I'm new to this site, could you t ell me how to get the ticker factory on my page. It usually takes me a long time to get to figure these things out.. lol

    Thanks,

  8. hi i just got banded on jan 3rd 2011. so far ive lost 8 lbs. but im losing interest in my foods. i am getting dehydrated. i just cant seem to drink enough. i was so into it and i dunno what happened. i just keep thinking of the foods i cant eat anymore. it hasnt even been 2 weeks. i feel like a failure already.

Hi catblueluvsyou! i was just banded on 12/30/10. And am also very new to this website, today as a matter of fact. I dont have a lot to tell you because we are both about the same

minus a few days. But i will tell you on my second day of liquids I had thoughts that I was going to starve to death and it made me very anxious. But thank God I was also able to talk

myself out of that thought process.. Its not easy , but it is doable and I know your having a shakey time now , so am I. We made this commitment to ourselves. And you know what we will

make it. Just keep sipping on liquids to get your fluids in. I did liqiuds for a week and am now on puree/mushee phase and its not bad I just put everything in the magic bullett and puree it

Hope you feel better soon. And you are not a failure you should be so proud of your self for going through this surgery and taking the right steps to get healthy for you. Hang in.

    Eileen

  9. Hi My name is Eileen. I just joined and am trying to learn how to use this website so bare with me lol.

I was banded on 12/30/10. I am 13 days post op and have lost 9 lbs. I am in the mushie stage for another two weeks.

I have been over weight my whole life since I'm about 11 years old. It has been a long hard road till now. Im excited that I made

this choice to try the lap band to assist me in losing this weight. I started in september 2010 at 384 lbs the day of my surgery

I weighed 346. So I have a long way to go but I'm glad I found this site, I know I will find some awesome supporters here.
