  1. i am going to buy one when i start pre op diet. mine broke quite awhile ago. i know i can be obsessed but i will need to see the pounds coming off so it will keep my psyched!

    i cannot believe yours is less than a week away!

    I can't believe it either...well, at least I sure hope my surgery is on friday...cuz I've eaten some meat and eggs.. seriously, a completely liquid diet for 2 weeks...I feel like I'm in a concentration camp..:lol: I just couldn't take it! My pre-op is today at 2 so hopefully it goes well!!

    Come on over to the February 2011 banders board.. it will be easier for us to communicate!! http://www.lapbandta...2011-bandsters/

  2. Tom you are so funny! You have my kind of personality..that crack about the Involuntary Bulemia...:lol::lol::lol: LOL

    Have you tried those Patches behind the ear or those C-bands at all??

    @Readi4anewme What an AWESOME goal...to teach Zumba some day..that's AWESOME girl.. I don't doubt you will do it. I joined a workout place...I haven't gone yet...:blink::lol: but they have a ton of classes including Zumba... did you get really winded the first time you did it??

  3. Is here anywhere on this site where ev'ery month could have a forum. I could swear I saw it somewhere. Then each person could post topics and we'd be able to see them. It wouldn't clog up this forum for others. I dunno...just thinking out loud. What do you think?

    Congrats to everyone else who has a date and is approved. The time is going by fast!

    Yes, pretty weird being told to just maintain. I am by no means thin or fit! I am miserable with my cpap mask and for that reason alone, I'm desperate to lose so I can get off this miserable thing! Not to mention, I'm uncomfortable, unhappy with my appearance...want off BP meds, etc.

    I was LOL at one of the other posters who said..."let's kick fat's ass!" LOVE IT!!!

    I didn't know that there was something like that on here.. hmmm... I wonder how we find it on here or set it up? That would be so much easier than this!

    I'm uncomfortable and unhappy with my appearance also. Can't wait to not look in the mirror and think "GROSS" LOL

    Congrats to everyone else with their new dates and getting approved!! SOOOOO EXCITING!!

  4. Welcome everyone! I'm so happy to see our February group growing. I wish there was an easier way to post instead of in one single topic thread. Does anyone have any ideas?

    I just got GREAT NEWS! I got approved!! Yippee! I will be getting my surgery on 2/11/11. I'm very excited and anxious. I need to get going on this. I cannot stand myself anymore at this weight and I want to feel better!!! I was told by the NUT that I had to just maintain my weight until I was approved because I am a 35.9 BMI (with a number of cmorbidities) and didn't want to run the risk of being rejected by insurance if I dropped below a 35. It is funny...someone tells me to keep eating and I'm anxious to diet! GO FIGURE!

    I think this board is wonderful. The support is great and I know it will help me as I continue with this journey.

    GOOD LUCK TO US ALL!!

    Congrats girl! THat is funny to make sure you don't lose weight.. but after being on this sucky liquid diet.. YOU GO GIRL!:lol:

    We could create our own Yahoo Group does Google do groups too? That way we could just get them via email and respond right from our emails? What do you guys think? I could set it up... or does anyone have any other ideas? LMK

    @Polly...welcome to the group hon!!

  5. I'm having surgery Friday and no pre-op diet was required. I started dieting a couple of days ago voluntarily, however, and started all clear liquids today. I figured it would help me get past the cravings early and start disciplining myself.

    Well, I'm HUNGRY (of course)! Should I just eat and enjoy these last few days of good food, or am I making the right decision?

    I'm seeing this late...but what did you wind up doing? Personally, if my doc didn't require it.. I sure as hell wouldn't have done it! :lol: Goodl luck with surgery tomorrow hon!!

  6. Ugh I'm only almost done with day 2 on my pre op diet and I'm alrdy stressing out so bad! I know my fiance has good intentions by stopping to eat before he gets home but I want so badly to be able to go eat with him and have dinner with him and I can't! Its really starting to make me mad!!!!! I'm starting to think I got myself into something I'm never goin to like! :(

    Seriously...I'm on day like 6 and I just couldn't take it anymore... I'm cold all the time, I'm hardly drinking any Water..whereas before I drank Water all the time.. I'm miserable..and it just sucks.. period! So I feel ya sister girl! So...I did a ton of research myself... read about everyone else's pre op diets on here and another site and googled "liver shrinking diet", etc... at the end of the day..the main focus of the diet is to shrink your liver...and the what of the diets have are high Protein, no carb, no sugars, etc... I even found some post where a woman's husband had the surgery a week after hers so he was on whatever day of the liquid diet when she had her surgery and he or she told the doc that he hated the liquid diet and then the doc said that he could cheat but don't eat any cheeseburgers..lol The woman said after that.. her husband had tuna sandwiches with mayo and cream of chicken Soup everyday until the last 2 days before surgery...he did only liquids for those..and he was just fine... So you know what.. after reading all that.. You do whatever you think is best for yourself.. but I'm not gonna lie.. I'm still doing my Protein shakes but I've also been having a few slices of ham and a few slices of cheese.. for the last 2 days. I'm sure I'll still be fine.. 2 days before the surgery.. I'll do just liquids... I understand why we have to do it.. but it just sucks when you see other people that their docs let them at least just do a low carb diet for 2 weeks or some only 2 days of a liquid diet..ya know.

    I feel better I got that off my chest..LOL :lol:

  7. Hi CincyUdy,

    Had my surgery 1/14/11, so far I have lost about 25llbs. My doctor wants post surgery, 2wks liquid 2wks musy foods and then solids, so one thing I have found out by being on this sight is everyone is different, how they lose and doctors require different diets.

    But I would think if most people who stick to the above restrictions they should definitely loose weight. But the band is to be used as a tool to loose, but slowly so you can remain healthy. I am about where you are now, and need to get down to 150llbs also, but I feel like with time and work, I will "DEFINITELY" reach my goal! Best of Luck :rolleyes:

    WOW you're doing really good hon! Doctors sure do require different diets all for the same outcome...ya know? I wonder if anyone was supposed to do one diet..but from doing alot of research..just did something else and was okay??

    Keep up the good work Lori!

  8. I think I'm going to stroke out! I am still waiting on a response from my surgeons office...something tells me I won't be able to be banded in February...I can't even get them to tell me if the sun is shinning outside! Please return a call respond to an email....dag!

    LOL You're funny! Hopefully they will call you soon... that sucks waiting to hear when you are expecting to hear!

    @duffy777 Glad they found your blod clots before you had the surgery. THat's really scary..but glad to hear you are okay hon!

  9. Yikes! Just got a booklet from my Dr. outlining what will happen post-op. I have to do liquid diet for 4 weeks post op! I guess that is my payback for not having a preop liquid diet. So, it says clear liquids for 4 weeks, Purees/mushies for another 2 weeks and then after 6 weeks I can move on to normal foods. I'm getting nervous!

    That does suck!! But at least afterwards you might not want to eat as much anyway.

  10. Thanks hon! I'm actually a patient at Mercy but she was looking for somewhere different... I have heard that they are really conservative with people getting fills and I told her that I had read about people leaving that program so she wants to go somewhere else because of the information I had found lol So I'm trying to find her somewhere else to go...she doesn't have internet access right now

  11. Okay I went to my first appt on Dec 7, they called yesterday 1/13 saying I was approved then 2hours later they called back to schedule my pre op, So now that is scheduled for 1/21 following all is well I will get banded the next Friday she stat ed which would be 1/28 okay I have not had a chance to tell my family Im 36 I dont want them to talk me out of this an Im not sure if im being fair to tell or not to tell, things are going so fast whaat do you think when everyone else around you is skinny or healthy an makes like it is all so easy who needs this type of help how do you deal with them or do you shut them out "including hubby"

    Hey hon! First of all congrats on the Sx date! My pre-op is on the 24th and my Sx date is the same as yours....the 28th. My first appt. was on Jan 3rd. Honestly, you don't have to tell anyone who you don't want to tell. I've told like 4 close friends and that's it. My p's will never know and I probably won't tell my kids for quite a while.

    What's the whole dark liquid thing?

  12. Yep get it from those German ancestors big strong strapping lads and stout women able to pull the plow don't ya know. Saw a photo of my GG Granddad taken in Prussia 1840's 6'6" and almost as round so the fat gene is there too (Darn it). I have already lived longer than he did the poor soul didn't make it to be 50. I hope to hang in for another 15-20 years but I won't make it carrying around the weight of a whole nother person all the time, that's why I am doing this, I want to live and live well for the remainer of my time on earth. I guess thats the goal of all of us here though. It's great that you have a date set, ( down you beastly jealousy, you'll get your time) sorry had to subdue the green eyed monster :P So, good luck Smokey and I hope we'er two almost skinny people by next year or sooner :)

    Those German ancestors will do it that's for sure!! I have a sibling who is the same height as you..and my son who is 15 is about 6ft tall now and wears a size 16 shoe so I always wonder how tall he will be. LOL

    I hope you get your date oon...I'm sure you will! Thanks and by next year or sooner we WILL be skinny...shit..I'm gonna be a size 4 or 6! ROCK ON!!!:lol:

    @blondeej That's my surgery date...the one you had to cancel..and I live in Chicago...LOL Lots of good food here..LOL

    @SashaFierce.. we are about the same weight..but I want to lose 125. I'm not a teacher..but I'm an old student!:D

    @Shalimar Congrats on getting a date...and wasn't that a band/group back in the day?

    @getitgirl Glad the gall bladder surgery went well!!!

  13. Okay, I haven't tried this yet but my friend SWEARS it is delicious. She makes "spaghetti" but instead of the noodles she cuts up thin strips of cabbage and cooks it til not crunchy and nice and soft. She makes the sauce like normal, adds ground turkey if meat is desired.

    I know it sounds odd, but so far the recipes she's given me are the bomb! So I'm going to try this soon!

    You can also use sphagetti squash instead of cabbage!
