Aussie Roll Call
They havernt told me to fast for my initial consult so i doubt blood tests will be done on that day. i believe i need chol, fasting sugars etc Id imagin the physician will require my blood test results when i see him on 14/2/07. since im seeing Dr nottle 2 days prior blood test results will not be available by the wednesday so its probably wise to get my GP to organize them. So be it if then Dr Nottle wants them done again.

Aussie Roll Call
Hey fee... your correct im one happy girl and i havernt even had the op yet. I just can visualize a skinnier, healthier me and i cant wait. I went onto dr nottle's website and it gives a list of the blood tests usually required and being a nurse i can add a few others just incase he wants more. Think i will get my GP to do them about a week prior to seeing Dr Nottle.

Aussie Roll Call
Wanted to pass on some info that was passed my direction by a lady on this site 'fee'.... As my appointment for my initial consultation isnt until 12th february she suggested i try to book in to see a dietician and a physician just after that thus saving on being put on a lengthy waiting list to see these professionals. I did just that and will see both on the 14th february. Therefore apart from being sent for a blood test that week i hopefully want have to wait too long for the procedure as im going private. Can i get my local GP to do the blood tests a week or so prior to me seeing Dr Nottle and i'll have the results to show him and the physician?? Is there anyone else id need to see prior to the op??

DR Nottle
Hey fee.... did my homework!!! Will see Dr Nottle on 12th Feb and then a dietician and the physician on february 14th. The Physician in williamstown is fully booked until the end of March so Dr Nottle's receptionist gave me the name of one in spotswood and i got in much earlier. Im aware Dr Nottle will send me for blood tests which i will make sure i have that week. have i missed anything?? Is there anyone else i will need to see?? I hope i dont have to have sleep studies... do you know why some people are sent and some arnt?

DR Nottle

that last surgeon sounds like a drongo!!! I really dont want to do the optifast thing. About 12 months ago i decided to go on it myself.....bad move.... my hair fell out after 3 weeks on it.. seriously i now have really thin hair. I did read that hair loss can happen on any fast trick diet.
-
DR Nottle
thanks for the info... i'll contact Dr Nottle's surgery tomorrow and see if i can grab the name of the physician so i can at least book in for later in the week that i see nottle and also book in to see dietician. did you have to go on a pre-op diet??
-
DR Nottle
so.... i basically need to know the contact details of the physician, ring and book now for a day or two after Dr Nottle. Do i need to see a dietician through him also?? Okay... blood tests can wait. Is there anyone else i need to see??
-
DR Nottle
Hi... do you think Dr Nottles receptionists will give me the details ie dieticians name, what blood tests to have and physicians name? Do i have to see a specific dietician? If i knew all that id definately have it done prior to seeing Dr Nottle on 12th feb

well... i rang Dr Nottle's clinic to see if i can go for my initial consult prior to 14th feb. Great news they can get me in 12th Feb. i was hopeing for mmmm... tomorrow. This waiting is driving me nuts. I want to be banded and now!!!
-
DR Nottle
Thanks Fee..... can i ask what weight you started at pre lap banding? Youve lost heaps. well done. Do you personally have to be very strict with your food intake at this stage?
-
DR Nottle
Hi Cam... thanks so much. I really appreciate all the info. I remember the pain well and if i get it all over again than it was ment to be and i'll try and be big and brave. I dont want to be fat anymore ( oops!! must be getting close to that time of the month as im getting teary writting this). Doesnt help when my 6yo daughter just found the underwear hidden away that i wore on my wedding day in 1994... she just walked out with them on and they nearly fit her. The whole Bra doesnt even fit over one of my boobs now. Just shows that a 40kg weight gain over the past 12 years = HUGE!!! :-(

DR Nottle
Yep!! the needles arnt nice at all. Fingers crossed for an oral med. r/e lap banding.. Thanks for all the info. 3 weeks on a liquid diet sounds just wonderful. Hopefully my surgeon isnt that mean. It will all be worth it down the track.

DR Nottle
what tests did you have to have?Do you have to do a pre-op diet. I heard some surgeons make people go on Optifast for 1-2 weeks prior. Did you go public or through private health insurance? Are you on meds for the MS? Im on Betaferon which may make my blood tests appear a bit out of range in some area's. My neurologist is going to send a letter in support of me having the procedure.
