  1. Hi everyone just wondering if anyone has experienced whats happening to me. I was banded Jan 2007 and have really struggled to get the band to work. I lost 3 1/2 stone in the first year but have never had proper restriction since. I'm either way overfilled or not enough of a fill.

Anyway I haven't had a fill in months and the last few days I could feel the band getting tighter (as in what I could eat). Yesterday I could not keep food or liquid down and today its even worse. Everything I put in my from Water to tea is coming back up and out my nose. This has happened me before and the surgeon took some Fluid out and it settled down.

Anybody have any ideas why this keeps happening? I have been doing really well last couple of weeks have been really watching what I eat, joined and gym and out walking every day. Could exercise make this happen does anyone know?

I really don't want to have to get a defill again but I will I it doesn't settle down.

    Would love some advice please

    Thanks a million

  2. Speak to Dr Chris De Bruyne he is located in Belgium but well up to speed on all of this.

I have flown to Belgium on a return flight for under £30, he also does a clinic in UK but will give you advice anyway. He did my OP and is really good and very approachable.

Thanks a million for replying. Does he do xray fills in the UK or Belgium? As far as I know he doesn't do xray in Ireland

    Thanks

  3. Sorry for hijacking your thread girls, just wondering if anyone knows where I could get xray fills in the UK? I was banded in Ireland but my provider went bust and we were left with no aftercare. I can get fills in Ireland but they're not xray and I have yet to reach my sweet spot. I'm banded over 2 years now and have still weight I need to lose

    Thankyou

  4. Hi

I was wondering if anyone knows what is going on with ACS, I understand that ACS is being liquidated and that the Hospital Group has taken it over but when I ask how that effects my after care which I paid in good faith and getting more fills I can't get a straight answer. The receptionist was going to put me on to Kim but I have always found her unhelpful. I have been reading your posts and everyone seems to be going to Chirs De Bruin, he did my last fill with ACS, is he will ACS still or has he moved. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards

    candy

As far as I know they've basically washed their hands of us. I haven't been in touch with them, don't really see the point. Last time I heard from them I had my appointment cancelled like many others and was told they'd be in touch in 2 weeks that was months ago. From what I hear anyway they're as bad as ACS so I will steering well clear of them. I personally am just cutting my losses

  5. Flirtylass I was banded by Jerome Manuceau and we didn't have to do a pre-op diet. All surgeons are different. I'm sure if you needed to do one your surgeon would have given you the info.

Girls just to let you all know I heard today that 2 girls who were filled by the Belgian nurses last week are very badly overfilled. One girl ended up in Loughlinstown yesterday, all they did was put her on a drip, shes flying to Paris today to have a de-fill she's in a very bad way. Just to warn you to be careful how much of a fill you get because if your overfilled theres nowhere in this country to be defilled. Having been in the situation myself its horrific and I'd be very careful how much of a fill you let the nurses give. They give this girl a 2ml fill

  6. Edel thanks for that:thumbup:

Thanks Gerri I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. Do you know will do the fill up in Belfast? I haven't been in touch with ACS since they rang and cancelled my last fill, don't know if I've the energy to contact them again I'm so sick of it. I badly need a fill though so will think about it. I'm worried about whats gonna happen after they give us our last visit, where do we turn then if we've a problem and stuff.

Everyone else hope your all doing well

  7. Hi Gerri thanks a million for that. I'm not sure what to do, think I'll give them a ring and might make the trip to Belfast. I'm sick of it at this stage. Glad the rain held off for you. My sons 9 today so myself and hubby are heading off to McDonalds and the cinema with 11 boys God help us:eek:

  8. Hi girls haven't posted in so long because I'm so fed up at the minute. I really need a fill, put 7 1/2lb up on my hols:mad: and can't shift it. I'm so fed up of the ACS situation. Gerri can you give me the number you got through to ACS or whoever they are now please. So are people going up to Belfast for fills or whats everyone upto?? Haven't read back through the posts so hope everyones doing well

  10. Hi guys had a call from ACS yesterday, to say they have moved shop. Did any one hear anything?. They are now at 30 Pembrook Street Upper. The 7b bus takes you from O' Connell st if anyone's intreste.

Are you mad I never got a call after my last fill like a few people to see how I was (wonder what those calls were for:huh2:) and I certainly haven't been told they've moved sure they won't give me an appointment for a fill til 29th May. I'm getting suspicious now Roe are you on their books:biggrin::smile2:

  11. Does this mean that Chris de Bruyne is going to be doing surgery for ACS in Belgium? I really didn't think he would want to be associated with them after all the problems. Are the two nurses, Chris and Frederick working for Chris de Bruyne? Its all very confusing:huh2:

I still think our main worry is what happens during the 3 weeks that the Belgian nurses aren't here if someone is overfilled or has an emergency. Even if Chris de Bruyne is going to be working with ACS, he is not going to be available here all the time. I agree with you Coco about the fills until you hit your "sweet spot". As you know well, it has taken me a whole year to get here. Although, we do need to be careful about not getting overfilled with no-one here to defill us!

Hiya Holly it is very confusing. Chris Deprez as much as told me he wasn't working with Chris de Bruyne over here, he did say he had worked with him before and ACS keep saying they think CdB is coming over. Your dead right our main concern should the time when theres no-one here to defill us or in an emergency:eek:

  12. I just received an email from my band buddy Jane (from Canada like me) who is currently travelling in Ireland. She forgot her emergency needle and turns out she does indeed need an unfill.

Could anyone help me out with names of surgeons or band nurses who might be able to help her out? She's in such distress that she's willing to travel anywhere.

    Many thanks.

Hi Devana where in Ireland is your friend? She could try the Beacon Clinic in Dublin phone (01) 213 5600 not sure of anywhere else in Dublin doing fills. I know there are others around the country but I'm not sure what they're called. Hopefully someone else will see your post

    Hope this helps

  13. Found an interesting website which compares the lap band which Jerome fits (heliogast) with the original Lap Band. http://www.profweiner.com/PDF/Blanco-Engert.pdf

It shows that the people in the study who had the heliogast band lost weight slower, took longer to get to the right restriction level, had more infections and more slippage!!!! Interesting reading for anyone who is finding it hard to get to the "sweet spot" like me. From reading that, it looks like the Lapband is a better band than the heliogast, I wonder why Jerome chose the heliogast? (Just read that the Heliogast is a French manufactured band - so I suppose that explains it!) It was interesting to see that people were not finding much restriction up to 5mls with the heliogast, so the surgeons contacted the manufacturer who told them to increase the volume from 5 - 9cc. So maybe that's why I have only found restriction now at 6mls? It would explain your case too Allure. Good to hear from you Allure. Haven't seen you since January. Hope you're feeling better soon and we can meet up. Glad you're a bit better Ailbhe. I was going to suggest that you might have a gallstone, because it sounded a bit like the pain I had when I had to have my gallbladder removed, but the pain didn't really ease off, so it sounds like it might just be strain. I think the Belgian Doctors use the Lapband, not the heliogast. Wonder is that why they have less infections!!

Great post Holly wonder why no-one else has commented on it:huh2: I'd say your right about Jerome using the heliogast cause its french. Pity he doesnt use the other one maybe I wouldnt be like I am now:cursing:

  14. Hi all. Just wondering if anyone is up for meeting up on 8th May before fills. Was talking to Elsie (whose broadband is down) and she is so let me know if anyone else is heading for a fill.

On another note I've just been told we have to go to ACS for our fills which (to be 100% honestabout it) has me worried. I specifically didn't want to deal with ACS because of all that went on and now I have to. I know it's only for fills but I don't want it to all go belly up and then be left with no way of getting fills.

I hope it doesn't happen but I am wary of dealing with a company which has, to be frank, such a crap reputation.

I am considering asking if they guy in Galway will do fills only even if not banded by him. Galway would suit me better anyway but I am not one bit happy abou handing over money to a company which provides such poor customer service and after care. :wink2:

    So that's my rant over!

Let me know if anyone is up for a meeting (i promise I won't rant anymore! :biggrin2:)

Ailbhe dont blame you cracking up over having to go to ACS they're aftercare is appaling. It must be true so about Chris de Bruyne coming to ACS so if you've to go there for your fills?

  15. Hi everyone hope your all doing well havent posted in ages I'm so fed up with this band:mad: Weighed myself this morning and I'm up 4lbs since my fill on 18th April :tt2: wasn't great for few days but have been trying really hard the last few days. I have alot on next month between parties, communion and my hols and was worried about getting another fill. Anyway decided today I'd get maybe another small fill that would tide me over so rang ACS and they have nothing til 29th May, I'm going away 10th June so am nervous gettin a fill so close after all my overfills:ohmy: I'm livid she said they're fully booked on 8th May. What kind of a service is this theres no-one to do fills only every few weeks and theres no-one to defill in an emergency. I'm so mad I felt like dragging her the fone:cursing::wink2: When I calm down I'll realise I should have rang last week but will rant on for another while:lol:

If anyone has a fill on 8th May and has to cancel for some reason please dont cancel will you pm me and I can try to get your slot thanks:thumbup:

Well rant over going off to have a big bar of choc now for my troubles:tongue: ah only joking:biggrin:

  16. Hi everyone well I'm worse off now than before I had my tiny fill:eek: wonder if he didn't put it all back in or something. I've very little restriction at all, could even keep Pasta down last night which I haven't been able to do in over a year. I'm paranoid now in case I have a leak or something. I'm getting sick of this bloody band now:cursing::):cursing: I'm eating rings around me, have even put weight UP this week:scared2:
