  1. Thank you for your post Dave. As a person who just got the band 8 days ago, I'm not interested in reading anything remotely hostile at this point (I'm just trying to settle in and adjust to my body's changes) and your response was kind and informative.
  2. I just got my band on 12/31 and I feel really tight in the chest too, even though all I've had is some pudding, a protein shake and water. There's a pain that comes and goes with it. as well. Did you experience this? I'm eating some gasx strips right now in case that's its just gas. I really cannot tell....
  3. I just got my band 12/31/2010 and today I'm having semi-sharp pains in the center of my chest that come and go. Doesn't seem like gas but who knows, I've had plenty of that. What it does feel like is that my esophogus down by the band is trying to push something down, or digest something. All I've had is pudding, a Protein shake and broth today so it's not anything solid. Its not killing me but it is irritating. Anyone else go through this?

    Muscle Milk....

I have tried the Muscle Milk Lite in chocolate in the past, and just bought some today because I'm going back to work tomorrow. I got my band on 12/31/10. I've not found any protein drink that I will say that I LIKE however MM lite is drinkable for me.

    Nervous and Excited Newbie

I just got my band on 12/31/2010 and after two days I'm doing okay. The left side where the port sits is pretty painful and it does hurt a bit to get up from my bed or out of a chair. I have not experienced any vomiting and have been really careful to follow directions give to me by my doctor of what I should eat right now. Like I'm sure you've been told, the lap band is there to help a person lose weight and is not a cure-all. One still has to work by eating right and exercising. Some of the negative stories I've read on this site are due to people "pushing limits" with respect to food. In fact, I know a friend who continues to try eat bread - when he knows he cannot. With the money I spent on my lap band (I did not use insurance) I am driven to make this work for me. I think that if you go in with that mindset and you follow directions from your doctor, you'll be successful. Good luck to you!
  6. I told people in my family that I had a hiatal hernia repair and that was it. My mother is the only one who knows about the lap band. I also told one person at my work and one person within my inner circle of friends. That way, if family or friends mention that I'm not eating enough, blah blah blah, I have at least one person within the groups I interact with to defend me (she's fine, she's just eating smaller portions - we should all be eating smaller portions, etc). I may tell others one day that I had the lap band and not just a hernia repair, but for now I want to keep it personal. Just until I see that its working for me and I'm working for it.
  7. Hello, I had my lap band put on yesterday (12/31/2010) and it feels weird. I am drinking broth, crystal light, Water and eating some Jello. My stomach feels so empty that when I drink I SWEAR I can feel and hear it it going down from the small pouch into my larger stomach. I don't feel nauseous at all, but my stomach sure is painful. My muscles hurt getting out of bed and out of a chair. And lastly I cannot tell from the pain in my stomach if its gas or its just sore from being manipulated. Anyone sharing these issues with me?
