Congrats! Of course it is normal to freak out before any surgery. From my experience, what you can expect after surgery is what you already posted. You may or may not be sore. You may or may not have gas pain. You may or may not leave the hospital immediately following surgery. Every person is different and how every person responds to surgery is different. I had a lot of pain after surgery and had to stay an additional night in the hospital. I had my surgery 12/28/2010 and my only regret about the surgery is that I did not do it sooner. I began my journey in January 2010 at 251 lbs and as of today I am 206. This is the longest period of continuous loss that I have experienced in my life and I am very thankful for this wonderful tool that was placed inside of me. Best of luck to you with your surgery tomorrow. You will not regret it. I highly recommend GasX strips for after surgery!

I was also banded on the 28th. I did not feel anywhere close to normal until yesterday. I woke up in alot of pain at the incision site and I had gas on my chest that would take my breath away. It was not until Sunday that I felt comfortable sitting and standing but after that I felt great. I found that the GasX strips felt well for me too. I did not have any appetite at all until today but I was only allowed clear liquids for the first weeks anyway. Tonight I was able to have a bowl of cream of chicken soup and I loved it. As far as protein goes, I cannot say enough for the EAS Whey Chocolate protein. I found that it was much better than anything else that I tried and it has 23 grams of protein a serving and tastes just fine mixed with water. Keep up the great work.

I was banded on 12/28/2010. It was supposed to be same day surgery but the doctor discovered a small hernia during surgery and repaired it. I was in so much pain when I woke up that they decided to keep me overnight. I am still having a great deal of pain on my right side just below my right breast. If it were not for this pain I would be doing fantastic. I am very thankful that I was able to have the surgery. I was just not prepared for the amount of pain I would experience. Occasionally the pain subsides but not often and at times it takes my breath away, as though there is a gas bubble in my stomach that needs to come up and I try to make that happen but it usually does not and then the sharp pain subsides. I have no idea if this is normal or not but after 4 days it is starting to concern me. I am very excited that I am finally loosing weight. I even went through all of my summer clothes today and threw out all of my 22/24 shorts from last summer. I just pray that this pain is temporary and passes soon.
