  1. I am doing the Carnation Breakfast Protien shake. Mixed with Healthy Checked Fat Free Milk. I didnt like smell. Then I used my Bullet (Blender) and added ice. Now it is my favorite. Like a milk shake.< /p>

Lean Cusine has 170ish calorie meals. I space those out one for lunch and one for dinner to make my 300-400 calorie meal.

Im getting banded on the 11th.

    Good luck...Keep in touch

I am on day 6 of pre op diet. I was doing the same diet as you and I was satisfied. Then when I told my Surgeon about it - he told me not to eat that - to switch to the Bariatric Advantage Protein shakes and bars. 3 shakes and 2 bars daily. he said becase of having to defat and shrink the liver. I absolutely hate the Bariatric Advantage Protein Shakes and bars. They are HORIBLE!!!!

  2. Yes he did back in April of 2008. Just had to have a cc of Fluid removed last week due to vomitting but will go back this week and get Fluid back in. I just love him he is soooo nice.

HI! I AM FROM JOHNSTOWN AND AM TO BE BANDED ON 1/17 BY DR. MARLEY. I AM ON DAY 2 OF PRE OP DIET. I AM LOOKING FOR FRIENDS TO SHARE THOUGHTS AND INFO. THANK YOU! :)

  3. Ive suffered from sleep Apnea for over 20 years - about the same period of time that I have suffered from obesity. At times I have had to use a CPAP machine to assist breathing at nite

I advised the surgeon about it prior to undertaking banding and I discussed it with the anaesthesiologist when she visited for her consultation the day before surgery

My surgery took 7 hours from the time I left the ward until the time I returned - there were a few small complications during surgery but nothing very dramatic according to my Doctor

I had no problems waking up.

6 weeks into banding and the apnea has almost gone - as has over 15 kg (30 lbs) of excess fat.

Im sleeping better and can get thru the day easily without a sleep or even feeling tired. In fact I am starting to get into a REM sleep pattern and am dreaming again - something I have not done in years because of the apnea

I am more alert and active as well.

    Blood pressure returning to normal.

Emphysema much better now that some pressure is off my lungs

and my clothes are fitting easier (refer my story about losing my pants on the plane back to Yogyakarta after my first checkup)

Quality of life is so much better after banding - and will only get better with each reduced kilogram

  4. hey I don't have a date yet I'm waiting for insurance approval but I had to get a whole load of tests done. lets see...barium swallow, psych eval, diet eval, cardiac clearance, pulmonary clearance, sleep apnea test, chest x ray, primary doc letter of support and quit smoking.

wow - that is alot of test. That is good though. I would feel better having the tests done first. I heard that if you have an ulcer, you can't have the lap band done? I don't know???? Where are you from?

  5. Hello! I just joined the group. I am scheduled to be banded mid January. I have much apprehension to say the least. I guess I fear the unknown. I will be on liquid Protein Shakes 2 wks. pre op and then 1 week post op. I don't know if I can do this? I was also wondering if what the protocol for pre op testing has been for others. I have heard from another Dr. that it is the norm to have upper GI and barium swallow and an EGD done pre op to rule out any ulcer first. My Dr. has not ordered any such test and I am concerned. Any info given will be greatly appreciated.. Thank you kindly.
