    Just banded and really suffering!

Hang in there, life does get better!!! I was banded Dec. 29th and stayed in the hospital for the night (Dr.'s gave me the option) Went home with pain in my port area. I really tought I was going to go back to work in a week but my port inscision got infected from inside and that caused a lot of pain. Went to see the Dr. and he prescribe atibiotics. I had to take a week and a half off work. I am now close to four weeks post op and I feel great. I lost 28 pounds and feel great. Don't worry, the pain will go away and pretty soon you'll be doing your normal things. Make sure you drink your protein because that's going to help you heal.
  4. How long did it take you to loose your first 30 or 50 pounds? How long after you had the surgery did you notice the weight loss?
  5. After reading other postings, I came across one that caught my attention. For those of you that need to re-start or need a jumpstart other members are sugesting the 5 day pouch test diet. The diet is for five days and they guarantee you loose between five and ten pounds. Check it out! google : five day pouch test diet

    I messed up on pre-op!

I did a two week liquid diet before my surgery and the day of my surgery I had a really bad cold and I was sent home from the hospital. I called the Dr.'s office the next day to reschedule my surgery and they told me to stop the liquid diet and to eat healthy for the next two weeks. I ate regular food up to the day before the surgery and the results were the same. Don't overstress about the liquid diet, it is a good practice for what will come after the surgery!
  8. The good thing is that you are loosing and at the end that's all it matters. Having the band is a hope that some day we will be close to or at our ideal weight. Keep it up because aside from loosing the weight you are helping your body to become more healty. The changes you have made after the band will help you live longer and enjoy life to the fullest. Think about it, did you use to measure your proteing intake or escersise months prior to the surgery??? Probably not but I truly believe that those changes in your lifestyle will help your heart, and all important and vital organs to work to thier capacity for you to live a better life. Congratulations!
  9. Congratulations!!!!!!! You are truly a motivation for those who are struggling!!!
  10. Good Point bandsters!! I agree 100% with your postings. I believe it's better to loose the weight slow and keep it off than loose it fast and have a rebound. Our body needs to adjust as we are loosing the weight. I was banded Dec. 29th and have lost about 23 pound. I feel great with the weight off. I don't think it is a matter of comparing ourselves to others who have lost the weight fast or slow but rather a motivation that keeps us focus on our goal without really worrying about the time we take to get there. My intention of posting this questions was for everyone to see that no matter how much time it takes to get to 30 or 50 we have a hope of getting there. It could be in a matter of weeks, months or even a year but the good thing is that we will get there just like it happened the fast loosers or the slow loosers. The band has given me that hope that had been fading with every failed attempt. I know now that I will loose the excess weight and reading your posts motivates me and helps me reasure that my descision of having this surgery will work for me as it has worked for the majority of people. Thank you for your postings and keep them coming!!!!!!! With lots of loveeee Chicaband
  11. I am at this stage right now and to me it was easier the liquid part because it was no liquid and no cretivity. I have been eating greek yogourt with 14gm of Protein, smash or puree Beans, riccotta cheese, I have blended regular food and it's not that bad. I have another week to go and then I will move in to soft food.
  12. I was banded seven days ago and I started with diarrhea and some stomach ache. Is this normal? Is this part of the healing process? I'm still on liquids and will be starting puree on Thursday.

    HELP Liquid Diet!!!!!!

Liquid Diet was so much easier for me than the puree stage. For the liquid diet I had three protein shakes during the day. I bought the new Monavie protein shake and added chia seeds to the blender. Just make your own chicken and beef broth at home. My mom made chicke soup with vegetables but I only had the broth and the same thing with the beef. She used beef shanks to make caldo de res but I just had the broth. Sanapple and muscle milk protein water helped during the day. You can also have jello any flavor as long as it is sugar free.
  14. I just started phase 2 of the post op diet. I been running out of creativity to make my puree foods. Please be kind and share what you made or any ideas on how to make these next 2 weeks a success!!! Thank You!

    Incision ?'s

I was banded on Dec. 29th and was put on antibiotics for the two days I was in the hospital after the surgery. My port incision was very painful, very tender and very swollen. After five days I the area started to change to a redish color and the texture of the skin started to look like the one of the orage peel. I called the Dr. and first they told me to start taking iboprufen 800mg every six hours. His nurse called me a few minutest later to tell me that the surgeon wanted to see me the next day. I went and he look at it and didn't seem concerned. I am concerned because I had an infection with both of my C-sections and the first one was really really bad. He prescribed antibiotics and the same day I started taking them the pain was gone. I have to take them for seven days and the port site seems to be better. It still has that weir texture but the rednes has diminish. I just hope that it doesn't get worse.
  16. Are you experiencing any kind of pain in the port area???? Were you able to go back to work?
  17. First of all, this forum has helped me a great deal!!!! Thanks everyone because I've found my confort, help, advice, and a place to vent and I know that you understand me because you are in the same path. Well, I was banded six days ago and I still have pain inside where the port is located. The area in wich the port is seems to be swollen and the wound has some rednes on the bottom part. I have no feever but feel very very tired and with no energy. I was supposed to go back to work on Thursday but I'm gonna have to call and change my start day to next Monday. Can you please share your experience with the port, the wound and the muscle used to attach the port???? Should I be worrying?
  18. I called the Dr. today and explained my concern. First I was told to just take some ibopruphen 800ml every 6 hrs but they they called me back and said that the Surgeon wanted to see me tomorrow morning to look at the wound. The pain has increased instead of decrease and I feel like a hard thinkg inside that pulls down when I get up or when I sit down.
  19. I was banded on the 26 and have pain in the port iscision. It is swollen and when I touch it there is a bump inside. How long does it take for the port inscision to go away. Should I go se the doc?

    HELP Liquid Diet!!!!!!

For my shakes, I bought the Monavie shake wich has about 18 gm of protein and many other nutrients. I made my shake with soy milk which added more protein to the shake and to change flavor added cherries or bannanas. I also bought chia seed which gave it some texture and added more protein. I used the blender to make it and the flavor was a lot better. I had three shakes a day and lost 16 pounds on the two week diet. I also made some shrimp soup and ate just the broth, beef broth with shank beef and vegetables and had just the broth, chicken soup with vegetables and had just the broth.

    Surgery date

I think is normal to have second thoughts. I even cancelled my original date and called the dr. office to change it to two day later. I was extremely nervous and scared becuase I thought that something bad was going to happend the day of the surgery. I even told my husband that if he said NO I was not going to do it. Well, I after a long talk to myself and God I decided to give it a try because If I hadn't done it I would have lived with the "WHAT IF" thought for the rest of my life. NOW, I am seven days post op and feel great except for some pain in the port area. I don't regret it and I'm happy to be able to say " Been there, Done that" Looking forward to more weight loss!!
  23. I was banded las Wednesday Dec. 29th. I know I have to be taking vitamins but are there any supplements that can help us feel better throughout this journey? I know some people are taking fiber chewables, papaya enzymes etc..
