So irritated from my last fill

before removing my band, even 1cc was too tight. It was decided to take out 5cc's and I felt soooo much relief. No acid reflux, night cough or slimming. It was useless and there was no need to have it in my body.
  2. Hello! I am so afraid to have the VSG done, but heart disease run deeply in my family. My parents died from heart disease young and so did half of my siblings. I am now 60 years young (so I feel) and wonder if I should just leave it all alone and live life as is. I have less than 80 lbs to lose but do have all comorbids. If I go through with it, I will have to do a 3 month nutritional diet and exercise plan for insurance purposes. I'm collecting all opinions before my final decision. Thx!
  3. hello! I weigh 220 right now and had my band removed 12 months ago. I want the sleeve but afraid of the acid reflux that I've heard may accompany it. It was awful with the band. However, I did lose 45 lbs but have regained 15 lbs back. was anyone else a light weight for RNY?
  4. Anyone have heel pain before getting sleeved? My weight started to creep up after having the band removed several months ago. Now I notice that I'm having terrible heel pain in the A.M. After walking or standing, It starts to go away. Anyone experience this?

HELP!! Has anyone had this happen?

Hello, Sorry to hear that. I'm having issues too! did you have any pain in that area?
  7. Thanks for the suggestions. I go to see a dietitian tomorrow to see about getting back on track after 3.5 yrs. I had to have a large un-fill a year ago B/C I was constantly getting fills by my Dr. due to never reaching that sweet spot. It didn't matter what I ate or drank if it was after 6PM, I would have the worse acid reflux imaginable(and I didn't go to bed untill 11:30 or 12). I mean throat burning, vomiting in my sleep, coughing, coughing, coughing and just plain miserable. I have a dilation now and have gained back around 12 lbs. Hopefully I can start anew tomorrow. My stomach is stretched, sitting high and about three times its original size. wish me luck, I don't want another surgery if it could be helped.
  8. I have read here, that if you limit your night time eating and drinking that your night cough, reflux and other terrible symptoms will go away. Well, what about if you're a diabetic as I am. You just cant stop eating 5-6 hours before going to bed. I also bowl twice a week and need some sort of fruit, snack, or even a drink of water before going home to go directly to bed. I've had so many fills and unfills that I cant even count anymore. Some things are easier said then done, and it's not always the sufferers fault.
  9. Hi, I've been there with my Dr too. He would do things such as overfill or constantly jab the needle all around the port as if he can't find it. But it is intentional B/C he only does it if he is annoyed. I would sweat and be in agony. Then he would say AWWW I'm sorry. Needless to say, I stayed away from him and was later told that he was relocating out of town. YAYYY!! I am transfering to another Dr. but have to pay a fee. Hopefully I can get back on track.

    Expecting Lap Band removal

Hi, Yes I've seen my surgeon and he wants me to go to my PCP due to my high B/P. My PCP said he didn't want to alter my meds for that b/c my B/P is not that High whenever they check it. So what do I do? I really don't want the band out, but I can't continue in distress. Whenever I think that I could just eat right and start over,I start having pain and flare ups again. I've gotten tired of the yoyo-ing. Something just have to give. I could change surgeons but I cant afford the expensive fees at this time. I'll have to sacrifice something and soon. I'm in my late fifties.

    Expecting Lap Band removal

I can relate to what you're saying. I've been having a difficult time as well. Pain around the port area and it feels inflamed. It's been 4 years for me and I'm tired of not being able to work out b/c when I do, I have very bad pain in that area one to two days later that lasts for up to 3 weeks. I lost nearly 50 lbs and have gained 8 back. I'm thankful for that but My body need a break and so do I. Trying to have it removed ASAP. It is very painful to even take a deep breath, so I try not to.

    Pain and swelling at port

I've been banded 4 years and YES, I do have pain in that area. I can feel the roundness and firmness of the port as well. I was in very bad pain one night and went to the ER early the next morning. Terrible port pain which revealed nothing on the tests taken. I can hardly breath at times when I have these flare ups. My Dr. says it's due to a tender muscle that it's attached to. I've been posting about it for a while now and trying to have it removed. Good luck to everyone else.
  13. Yes, I can speak from experience too! I lost 45 lbs in 7 months when first banded and nothing else since. That was 4 years ago and have been having issues as well. The band and I quit each other 3 years ago and my Dr has assured me that it will never work for me again despite all of the fills that I was constantly getting and then to be unfilled b/c of being too tight. Good luck to all of you that haven't had any issues with the band and can't understand how this could be. I love my band and will truly miss it after 8-6.

    Removal 6/3/13

Mine is coming out Aug 6th. Aug 4th would be 4 yrs with band and port issues. Not sure what I will convert to if I do at all. My Dr. is telling me either sleeve, or bypass. I'm at 215 now before removal so I would think that bypass is out. good luck to you

    LAPBAND DIDN'T WORK FOR ME

Hello ppl, I'm just reading this post and It appears to me that a lot of you are thinking that the strugglers are the ones that have failed the band. Well, in a way you're right and in a way your wrong and being judgmental. No one wants to hear that this is all their fault "just sayin". I failed with the band only because it failed me. After changing my habits, eating right, exercising and being filled and unfilled several times and only losing 45 lbs in four years that I gave up. So if you still say that everyone that's struggling to make it with the band is all because it's their own fault, then pat yourself on the back. Please don't put others down, you just happen to be one of the few ppl out of thousands that is a little more blessed. Empathize with us and pray that we can find what you have. LOVE

Band has migrated to my bowel!!!

Hi, I'm happy for you. sounds like what I'm afraid of. I go to see my Dr tomorrow and set a date to have band removed after 4 years. I still need to lose another 50 lbs according to my Dr. and lab work, but too afraid to even think about another surgery. Being diabetic, I haven't been able to do it alone and that scares me even more. Like someone said before, We chose this route and for me, it was the wrong choice.

    PORT Causing Pain

No, you're not the only one. Sorry for the late response, but I am nearly 4 years out and I have that pain come and go for 3 years now. I post on it all the time but I'm afraid to just let my band go and gain all of my weight back. I've already gained back 10 of the 48 lost.

I feel like I am starting over

Hi Sandi, Thanks for writing my story for me (LOL). Everyone here has been so supportive. hely88, thanks for the advice that I wanted to do for some time now but never did.
  21. Well, I'm hoping that giving my band another chance will make a difference. So far in the past few days it has. I'm trying hard with my diet and getting in my exercise. I have lost 5 lbs and starting to get motivated again. I know it's too soon to talk, but I feel that's a good start. Thanks for the encouragement.
  22. I was banded four years ago and my band and I both quit on each other. I was thinking of converting to sleeve but have to wait for insurance approval. In the mean time, My new Dr. says to work with the band some more and try to get back on track with it. So that's what we're going to do. He gave me a little fill and I am to start back to eating right with smaller portions. I started yesterday and so far so good. I even went to the gym this morning.
  23. I was looking into the sleeve also. Then my new doctor said to work with the band. So I will be getting a fill on Friday and will be restarting a new.
  24. Hello Everyone, I was wondering if any of you ever had to be rebanded. I lost 48 of the 75 lbs that I wanted to lose before going astray. My band and I stopped working for one another and I do believe that it was due to my own doing. I have fluid taken out of my band at this time, but I'm hoping that being re-positioned or rebanded could put me back on track. My Doc is talking sleeve but I don't want to be cut. I'm hoping that any of you that have had success ever had to be rebanded that helped with your success.
