Not Sure What Is Going On???

I have been wondering the same thing. Mine does it all the time now. I throw up now the same way you described 3 out of 4 meals I eat. If I try to drink anything...I will throw up what ever I eat. The only difference is that now my body forces whatever I have eaten up. There are times I have not even been able to make it to the restroom. I just Projectile Vomit. Once the Food comes up I am fine. i have asked around and No one else seems to have this problem. My Family Dr. told me I need to see the Dr. that did the Lap Band...But, he seems to think I may have a Hytal Hernia. Have not made it to Lap Band Surgeon yet.

Is it what you eat or how much?

I do not know how you can eat 3000 calories with a band that is adjusted tight. I could not eat that many calories if I tried. I would be throwing up. My Dr. is totally against Protien Shakes...He says anything you put in your Mouth should come off of the table and be eaten with a fork. He also said not to drink fruit or Vegitable Juices. He says to eat the Vegitables or Fruit...Do not make them into Juice. I do vary my Caloric intake from day to day. I have a friend that has had her Band for 5 years and has been at Goal weight for 4 of them. She told me she basically eats what she wants...Making sure she gets enough Protein. She said she has always eaten that way since her band. Her theory is people make it harder than it needs to be. I have followed her advice and I am not losing all my weight over night...But, have lost 40lbs in 3 1/2 Mos. My Dr. told me that was really good. He said the average weight loss with a lapband is about 2lbs a week. I cannot eat more than 4 oz @ a time and I usually eat 2 meals a day and one snack...sometimes I only eat one meal and one snack. I eat when I am hungry...eat very slowly and stop when I get full. There are times I cannot eat more than 2 oz. Until I started reading everyone on heres post...No one else I have talked to eats as much as You guys do. Yes your body does adapt...that is why bands are adjustable...so you can tighten them up as you go. My friend that is 5 yrs out...just got another adjustment about 6 mos. ago...her band was no longer tight enough.
  5. Does anyone Know anyone that has had Apron on Tummy, and Arms done that is on Medicare? Medicare was really good about covering 80% of Lapband. Was not sure if they are as Cooperative about covering PS that is Medically necissary after all weight is lost,

No 2-week liquid pre-op diet required!

My Surgeon required 2 wks liquid diet. He said the larger the liver the higher the risk of it being accidently knicked during surgery. I also lost 10 lbs during the 2 week liquid diet...Which gives you a nice jump start on the weight loss process. Everyone I have talked to said their Dr. required the 2 weeks liquid. I always tend to go with better safe than sorry...I would probably go on 2 weeks liquid anyway. But, it is entirely up to You. Best of Luck with Your surgery!!

No 2-week liquid pre-op diet required!

My Dr. did require 2 wk. liquid diet. Until reading posts on here I had never heard of a Dr. that did not require it. The good thing about the liquid diet is I lost 10lbs before my surgery. A nice jump start. My Dr. said the larger the liver...the greater risk of accidently knicking it. I tend to side on better safe than sorry...So, I would probably do the 2 wks liquid anyway. It is entirely up to You. Best of Luck with Your Surgery!!
  10. I had one preop appointment with Dr. Hoehn and found him extremely cold. I could not see myself in an on going relationship with him. I chose to go with a different surgeon and am very happy with my choice. He is very Kind and Caring. I see him at every Dr.s appointment I have. He does all my fills and sees me for any complications I have. I have talked to several other people that chose to use my surgeon that first saw Dr. Hoehn...and all of them had the same experience I did and chose not to use him for the same reasons. I also have several friends that used other Surgeons besides the one I used for their Lapband and each and everyone of them see their Surgeons at every Appt. I think Dr. Hoehn is the only Lapband Surgeon that does not see his patients PostOp. Digging Deep...Gaining Strength!! Vickie
  11. I had one Preop appointment with Dr. Hoehn and then chose to use another surgeon. The Dr. that did my Surgery sees me at every Dr.s Appt. Does Dr. Hoehn do your fills? I find it very strange that you are not seeing him at each appointment. I know others that have used other Dr.s besides the one that did my surgery and all of them see their Dr. at each appointment. This is the only Dr. I have heard of that does not see his patients at each visit. This makes me even more assured I made the correct decision with going to a different surgeon. Sorry you are experiencing this. Digging Deep...Gaining Strength!! Vickie

    Introduction

Hi my Name is Vickie. I have been Banded for 3 1/2 mos. I have lost 40lbs so far. I had a rough start..Diarreah caused Dehydration which I had to be Hospitalized for. I have since learned how to manage the Diarreah to prevent Dehydration. At first I was not sure I had made the right decission due to this Complication. But, I now know without a Doubt I DID make the correct decision and would do it again in a Spit Second!! The first two Pictures were taken the Day after my Lapband Surgery. The third Picture was taken at my last Drs. Appt. 40 lbs lighter!! Digging Deep...Gaining Strength!! Vickie
