  1. I am getting ready to leave work. I'm anxious/nervous and feel silly about feeling so but I can't help it. Today is my post op appointment and 1st fill... as in go into the sorest incision scar I have with a needle appointment . It's the unknown part that is getting to me... I mean, I haven't had this part done before and it involves a V. long needle in a sensative spot so I'm being a baby. I am having to talk myself out of bringing my stuffed moose to cling to desperately as they jab a super long needle into my innards.. Instead, I shall cling to my hubby for dear life, then feel like a two year old when it's over and I discover it wasn't that bad to begin with.:rolleyes I really NEED this appointment because I can EAT:hungry: I really misbehaved this weekend and though I'm still not totally at the quantity of food I can normally have, I'm still ate more than I should have and I had BREAD. I had two biscuits yesterday and perchance a slice of brownie....ok.. I had two hunking big pieces of brownie followed by a glass of milk.. ANYwho... As I sit her typing this my stomach is screaming for me to throw it some food and of course.. I can't. I'm not supposed to eat four hours prior so I ate 'brunch' at 10 a.m. to make extra sure my tummy was empty when I got there. Did I remember to ask if I could drink... NNNOOOOO:huytsao . ok.. assuming I survive and don't faint :faint: and break my neck.. I shall report in more detail than you could ever hope for as soon as I get back. tootles, Tracy

  4. Check this out.. this is so cool! You can print this card up and take it to restaurants so you can order off of the kids menu. There is also a list of places that already allows adults to order kids size meals. http://www.obesityhelp.com/magazine/RestaurantCard.html Basically it explains that you've had surgery that olmits your ability to eat a large amount of food, and it requests that you be premitted to order off the children's menu or to order half portions. Of course, it's up to the retaurant whether it will honor the card. One one side of the card is the name & address of the practice * the surgeon & on the other side is the request information.

Should Pets be more than Property?

FDA: Plastics Chemical In Recalled Pet food PETA Calls For Expanded Recall UPDATED: 9:54 am CDT March 30, 2007 RICHMOND, Va. -- Government testing of recalled pet food linked to dog and cat deaths has found a chemical used to make plastics. The Food and Drug Administration said it found melamine in samples of the Menu Foods pet food, as well as in wheat gluten used as an ingredient. Cornell University scientists also have found the chemical, also used as a fertilizer, in the urine and kidney of a sick cat. Earlier results from a lab in New York had blamed a rodent poison and cancer drug called aminopterin for the deaths. PETA Wants Bigger Recall Meanwhile, some animal rights advocates say a pet-food recall does not go far enough. The group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals called on the government and pet food makers to expand the recall to include dry varieties, too. Nearly 100 brands of pet food were recalled after animals suffered kidney failure. The recall involved "cuts and gravy" style dog and cat food. Some major brands, including Iams, Nutro and Eukanuba, were involved. The Food and Drug Administration said it has no plans to suggest a wider recall and veterinarians said they've seen no trend of dogs and cats getting sick from eating dry food. Should Pets be more than Property?

PET food RECALL UPDATE: OTHER CONTAMINANTS MAY BE INVOLVED </SPAN>Since Menu Foods, Inc. announced its massive pet food recall on March 16, the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center has been flooded with calls from pet parents and animal welfare professionals alike. Based on data from these calls, the ASPCA reports that clinical signs in cats affected by the contaminated foods are not fully consistent with the ingestion of rat poison containing aminopterin which, says Menu Foods, is at the “root” of the contamination issue. Explains the ASPCA’s Dr. Steven Hansen, veterinary toxicologist, “There are so many inconsistencies in the purported link between aminopterin and the animals affected that we urge veterinary toxicologists and veterinary pathologists at diagnostic laboratories to continue looking for additional contaminants.” Pets who are being treated for kidney failure suspected to be related to contaminated food should stay on their treatment. If your pet has eaten contaminated food and shows any signs of illness, including loss of appetite, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, changes in Water consumption and changes in urination, please consult with a veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 immediately. In order to help with your pet’s diagnosis, you are advised to: - retain food samples for analysis - save all packaging and receipts, and document the product name, type of product, date codes and/or production lot numbers - document the dates that the product was fed to your pet, how much was eaten, and the time when you first noticed symptoms Adverse effects or deaths of pets conclusively linked to eating the contaminated foods should be reported to the FDA. Additionally, the American Veterinary Medical Association website contains helpful information for pet parents and veterinarians. For a complete list of recalled pet food brands, please visit http://www.menufoods.com/recall.

    GAY Bandsters

Well if you can't change his mind, I think it will be interesting to have the two different types in the same household. He will probably lose quicker yet in about a few months time you'll catch up and probably be healthier cause you lost yours slower. He also may end up with gall bladder and hair loss issues. Good luck tomorrow.. I'm excited for you! T
  9. I'm a tanner... and I was wondering about what to do about my incisions post op. I ran across this on the internet and am GLAD I did. I will be covering my incisions with those cute little stickers. Better to have shapes all over my belly than to promote the healing of my incisions/scars... I tan and found this to be helpful. Sunning, Tanning Booths, & Surgery While having a golden tan is lovely to look at - it damages the skin. Tanning is a personal choice, but it's important to know the results of doing so in conjunction with your surgery. No one ever healed skin cancer by getting a tan. If tanning improved our skin there would be no need for sunscreens and all the media messages about skin cancer we hear daily. Stay out of the sun before your surgery You want your skin to be in good shape so that you can have the best chances for healing. Suntanned skin does not promote well-healed incisions. Stay out of the sun after your surgery Sun on your new incisions will turn them permanently red. This is not our opinion - it's a fact. Incisions need to stay out of the sun for about a year, and longer if they have not turned white. Once you sun them and turn them red, there is no going back. Only excising them and starting over will get rid of the red, sun damaged incision lines. If you will be in the sun post-operatively (we realize we all have lives and vacations happen), please make sure your suit covers your incisions completely. Depending on how far post-op you are, you should ask your plastic surgeon if you can put sunscreen on your incisions. Sunscreens are chemicals, and it may not be a good idea to put this on your incisions if you are newly post-op, so ask your plastic surgeon. Of course, exposing them to sun would be worse, so do ask your plastic surgeon as he or she might also be able recommend the brand they'd like you to use. Some people have even put surgical adhesive tape over their incisions. This might be a good alternative to the chemical aspects of sunscreen - provided the tape stays on. Again, ask your plastic surgeon.

To Tan or not to Tan....

I went to the pharmacy and bought a roll of paper tape to put directly on my scar then I bought a roll of the thick solid white tape that is hard to tear to put two layers on top. I have discovered that though it's not as much as.. the stickers still allow the light to get through.. sunscreen will as well
