Changing beliefs to fit behaviors

It is now when some go over the top to be "right" to "prove" others wrong, just to be right that newbies end up confused, afraid to ask the "stupid:" questions. And there they sit hurting alone and needing someone to help them process what is going on,. Then if they were so very unlucky to get one of the "bad docs" where do they go then. There should be a group of loving/caring and sharing going on here. It would seem that we are all on one type of journey or another just to get healthly, to fight the mental issues that we have allowed our weight to put us through for the last "XXX " years (insert your specific numbers) me it has been a lifelong security. If i was "fat, obese, MO," I didni't have to worry anylonger about being abused by my grandfather, my mothers boyfriends, or raped. You know that was a good thought, just made me less likely to fight back. But God healed the issues filled the hurt/ pain, and allowed me to live again. Then he brought my DH to me that has loved me from a 22 to a 34 and now going back down to 26. I just don't see why that on the fourm where others are fighting to find themselves and a way to health that we cannot take the information given, give it in a postive way and enocurage each person to do the best they can. If they are screwing up by eating "steak" on day 3 or 4 we need to tell them they are screwing up. it may not show right now, but... look at this "thread" and see what "sally" went through the pain and dissapointment. I have not been perfect by any means following the diet... LB way but i try my hardest. I have paid privately for this and that is not the issue. What is the issue is i am tired of not living. Not having a life and i want to live and would like to see this forum back to where it was when i started searching it for answers. Back in april i was at the end of my rope, i didn't want to continue and it was there i met one of the know it alls and one of the long posts that they had put out made a connection with me. i saw myself in one of their er patients. there is a place and time for each of our input and they are put out there for the benifit on maybe only 1 person. But if that 1 person is saved from suicide, a feeling of never getting it, then isn't that what this forum is for. Each person should be able to reason if what is being said is a bunch of CRAP and can pm that person and tell them so. Be adults.... and be respectful. If we as adults would try to do this just think what the world could / would become. I apologize for rambling. I just wanted you to know that while i have been recovering from Hospitlization and being BORED with my DH tv selections that you have been my sanity and i felt sad for us that we are so busy trying to tear each other down instead of supporting our community. Isn't the WORLD already busy tearing down, discriminating againinst the Fat, fluffy, obsese, MO people , why in my Great Saviors Name would we want to shoot our own wounded. As my DH would say, step away from the soap box. May God Bless you each and may this not of been ugly because this is not what was intended. thank you for listening/reading. now off for a try a partical day of work. I miss my senior population. again sorry for the rambling. but why cannot this be a positive place for all to come. get information and make great informed decisions.:rain:

    Terrified Newbie

. Great advise. The side effects from MO, far out weigh the LB surgery. Just be confident that you are ready to make a change and this is the choice that you have made. YOu have done your research on the doctor that you are having do the LB and everything else will fall into place. Follow YOUR docs directions and everything else should fall into place. It is normal to get the jitters but keep focused on what your goal is "to be healthy?" to live life ? take care keep us posted i am 6 months out and have had MANY struggles, broken foot 2 days home, been on meds since August that increase my drive for food, and now been in hospital for pnenomoina but i am going to get on track... it is the journey not the end and i can move now and have more life to live. good luck !

    Changing beliefs to fit behaviors

You are the best! I want my 1 # prime rib... and i am 6months out and do miss the Quest for the BEST and Biggest Prime Rib but not enough for a slip, erosion... or to be on your d.a. list keep up the great job.. It is out there let the information fall where it is - accurate, specific. We are not this way because we have taken care of ourself. We have to learn how to do that again. Take care

    Skany Evil Repulsive Patient Coordinators

If people on this board would just be honest, it would make it agreat place. I would think should be the sight for good, specific and correct information, so each and every person that searches for a way to get themselves healthy, they could find it and not be afraide of loosing their band, or even more importantly their life due to some yayhoo. It would also be nice to be able, if like i was eager to make a change and needed "help" in the research due to my time schedule, would be able to come here and know that a coordinator was not going to send me to their "shoddy" doc so they could make some extra Christmas cash. It is still amazing to me they could put a small price on someones life. Even if i didn't some one i could never do this to them. So like the ones above, thank you for your continued diligence, and continued dedication. We appreciate you!!! :clap2::clap2:
  7. Dont be afraid. Great Job on starting the pre opt early... I am unsure what metal thing your are talking about Which band are you getting maybe that is it. I was at 60.8 bmi and i too started early b/c i wanted to give doc the best chance to work his magic. Good luck and best wishes My mom lives in PHX and i have a good friend their toos met her here on this forum) I had my band in MX and love Dr. A and that is where i go for my fills and also get to see my mom and dad Great bonus getting a fill while seeing my mom:clap2:
  8. Tom from what i am reading you are not on the "liver shrinking diet" correct. I would do whatever "diet plan that as given you quick start" we have all had or gone through one of those. I did atkins/south beach. i started at 424 and bmi of 60.8 There was no threat of getting to a "special weight" however the more one can loose before does help during the surgery time. The walking is great. I myself, since having surgery have been "blessed" by one trial to another 1 day back i broke my foot and was down/well off of it for 4 months so just now getting around to thinking i need to be doing something. I know you can do this if you choose the path to get you there. But my simple thought would be to use a diet that has worked "quickly" in the past and then slide quickly into the dr office and get er done! good luck!

    Mexico ?

All i can say is you are in for a wonderful experience!!! I was banded 5-24-07, i am down about 70# and that is with a broken foot, medications that cause increased hunger and now with bi lateral pnemonia. I have not been able to exercise like i should.

The band is wonderful. I already feel 100xs better. I can move and feel like moving.

The hospital is AWESOME!!! the staff is even MORE WONDERFUL than the hospital. The DOCS are the most caring, and want you to have all your questions answered and they do not treat you like you are a means to a $$ end.

I went back to MX for my fill from KS, and even got my mother that has NEVER been to MX for fear to go - well my friend i met on line here got her to try and she lived so DH and I and mom are going to Mx in Dec for fill. it is worth the travel to see Doc A and Doc C. and The "team" they are more like family they really care. They are there for the total person not just the surgery.

Take you something to do, after the 1st day you get bored. and take good shoes so you can walk, walk , walk. then get in the shower get cleaned up and go see the next set of "newbies" it is awesome. Don't forget your gas x, they sell Soup in the airports if you are flying. so that is good! I will be down there then maybe i will see you.

    Pretend Banding

Was ABubble Butt - i think you are very positive, to the point, very informative. But that is because i can now call you friend. Before you were that you were VERY honest and that is what these boards need is for people to be honest. I am glad (we found) each other. See ya in a few weeks YAHOOOO i am so excited. But just becasue you are to the point, that isn't a bad thing!
  11. welcome, I am a KS girl and was banded on 5/24, going for fill 8/18. Walk all that you can... i found a lot of the pain was gas. I was very lucky and didn't really have what i would call pain. My worst was my flight home from MX. The altitude really messed with me. I felt like i could go back to work the 2nd day. I am an administrator of an Assisted Living so i can set my job duties... I had been doing well, but now i am in what a friend called Bandster Hell.... Old habbits die hard and i broke my foot the 2nd day home so have NOT been able to walk, and have used that as an excuse not to do ANYTHING. Even with that God has blessed me and i have been able to loose about 50# and gone down from 5x shirt to 3x, i am about clothes sizes more than weight.... although 199 looks good... anyways Welcome and it gets better after the first few weeks of the liquids/mushes... DOB 5/24/07 424/374/199(first long term goal)

    Every day is a choice!

thanks for the post. I really needed this today!!! I am in SE Kansas where it has flooded. My home not hurt however was flooded in town with my Assisted Living, and our church is a Red Cross shelter and we are doing the food. Things have been sooooooooooooo crazy! I told DH tonight on our 1 hour drive around the h20 to get home, i have to get back on schedule.. it has been easy to pick. I have dropped 50# in 7 weeks, which i am very happy with. actually that was in 5 weeks and i haven't weighed since i have to go to drs to be able to weigh. I had a NSV this weekend before the flood, i have gone from 5x shirts to a comfortable 3x yahoo. and down 2 pants sizes. So i am the one that is rambling but thanks for the post on choice.. I choose to live and to make a difference in my life. thank you!!!!!

    Why remove the band!

Had surgery on the 24th, and anniversary the 27th and DH said in hospital that he got me something for anniversary and I was sad b/c I hadn't, it was all about me at that time. Then he said that he got me jewelry, stomach jewelry... Ha too funny... Guess he is going to be one of the people digging up our bones. ha

I live in Kansas, reasearching banding NOW WHAT?

Hi, one of the main things that I would first look at is the doctor and how many LB they have done. If they have only performed 2-3 hundred they may not have the history to see their success rate in this area. Also, what type of medications do they plan to send you home with. If they are using heavy meds as a planned therapy- you might consider another doc. Their skill or lack there of could be the reason for the heavy medications. It is important to know how they do their surgery. Be sure to check their refrences, find people that have used them. One thing with the LB is to know just like other areas of life, it is ONLY a tool. One that you have to work with. You have to know that you are going to need to make good food choices and follow the "rules". The good thing with this though you will be able to loose, and you will be able maintain. I have been banded on May 24th, and with pre opt and Lb i have as of last week lost 35#'s . So i am very pleased. I have broken my foot last week so now have to deal with no exercise. I know this is for a life time. That the weight didn't come on in a day and it surely isn't going to leave in a day. Do your research, Is the bigest suggestion I have. Once you make the choice to change forever then this is the proceedure. It is a lot easier on your body than the bypass. Good luck on your journey.
