  1. I was banded 12/6/2010, I had my first fill in February. I have just 3.3 cc's in my regular lapband. When I had a fill a month ago, she put in just the .3 cc's. Which I thot was odd, up until then I had lost every visit. I have NOT found my sweet spot yet..

I can pretty much eat anything I want, I just eat slowly, taking about 20 minutes for each meal, and yes I feel hungry in between meals. I can eat and drink right after I get up in the morning, not a problem at all.

I have a visit scheduled in the morning, I hope I get a titch more than I got last time. The day after my fill, I called back to the office and told them I felt like I had nothing added, I had to return, my doctor wasn't available, so I saw a colleague. He told me that if I was his patient I would have at least 5 cc's and that I shoudn't be able to eat for at least 4 hrs after waking..

So I need to step up and find out which is the right thinking..

    what do you all think??

  2. B)Hello All..

I was banded on Dec.6. 2010. Pre surigical diet was my biggest loss so far.lol I stared at 235, was 221 on surgery date, gained 10lbs with Fluid from the surgery, lost that too, and am now at 209. I just keep waiting for the losing to kick in..

I have gotten 2.5 cc inserted, just 4 weeks ago.. so far I don't feel much of a restriction. When I went in for my appt , last week, I had lost 4 lbs in 3 weeks, so she didn't add any more fluid. I was kind of disappointed..

I know I have to WORK on exercising, which I am daily, and work on eating habits, which as all of you I struggle with..seems to be a normal thing.

  3. The amount of Fluid in your band would be in your record from surgery, there is NO way that a prudent nurse would not look that up..seriously.

To find out how much was in there would have been the first thing ..the other is she would have to just aspirate the fluid out with a 10 cc syringe and the answer would have been there.

I was banded Dec 6 and have no fluid in my band, I won't have that added until in January AFTER I have healed..

    I wish you LUCK!!

  4. Hello~~

Have you tried broth? I listed some different types of shakes in my blog..sometimes just a change up will halp satisfy you. I havne't felt hungry, just smells make me hungry.LOL like pizza, a hamburger cooking...etc. I just change it up with broth, or watered down creamy Soups to help stave off the craving, not hunger..and it passes..

I was banded Dec. 6 and have my first post op visit next week. I can't go to mushie till then. Making the most of it! My dr allows anything that will flow easily thru a straw as a liquid...

    Hello everyone!!!

I was just banded on December 10th and I'm on the liquid diet. Problem is, I'm always hungry. I do drink my Protein shakes and Water, but I am always hungry!!!! Has anyone else had this problem?

I can go on pureed foods on Saturday and I so want to have just some mushy baby food vegetables now, just to get into my stomach,

    Does anyone have any advice?

  5. Thank you for the replies...I do use the gas x strips..but they seem to Not help! I am walking and doing short work outs on my wii fit. Just to keep active (I am afraid to get pneumonia.

I wasn't sure if it was gas or just from surgery. I never experienced gas pains like that! I have a lot of burping and it relly hurts to burp. Anyone else hurt when they burp.

    Mandy,

I was banded on Dec 6.

Pretty sure it's gas, I still have some there too, and if I don't drink enough fluids in the day, it seems to flair up.

My dr advises not to exercise until at least a month out, just walking around the house, I have a Wii too, and she said NO...don't want to strain and move that band.

So you unless your dr advises to do something other than walk..I wouldn't.

Do some shoulder movements when you walk, when you take your shower let the Water flow on it. I used warm packs also when I was at rest and that helps too.

Do you do an incentive spirometer? that helps too..

Do you take any pain meds?

  7. I was banded on Dec 6th, I haven't had any mushie food, I can't 'start on that til next week.

Have you tried Isopure? it had 40 grams of Protein per serving and is 20 fl ounces, there are different flavors too. I use my Protein Powder in my Fluid, I have recipes that I have added to my blog that are really great tasting. I wouldn't post them if I hadn't tried them.lol each of the servings are 20 grams and if you do morning noon and evenning you have your Protein in. I also change it up and blend Soups in the blender..its amazing that they taste yummy but they do! I just eat 1 serving and count the protein in. That might help you too. As long as it goes thru a straw it is on my liquid diet.

Hello all!! So I was banned on dec 8th.. Here is my 4 day post op update!

Gas pain in my shoulder is gone!! (for the most part) I have been able to get up and walk around. I have gone out to do shopping with no problem BUT I have been taking the liquid pain meds. I have not really been Hungary but I have removed myself from some dinners my family has eaten (crab legs) I can not seem to get 72 oz of liquid in me - which means I am struggling getting 60 - 70 grams of protein in. I have been tired but I am blaming the pain meds that I have been (enjoying) taking. I am sleeping pretty good. I have a full feeling if I drank to much to fast. I can drink about 6oz of a protein shake at one time. Today I had about 2 teaspoons full of mashed potatoes and I also had 2 small bites of cheese cake that went down with no problem (it was my mother-in-law's birthday) Over all I feel good. I started out at 258. I was about 240 for surgery. I am going between 234 and 236 right now. The bloating is still there but not bad. Sooooo over all I think I am doing ok. I need to get my liquids down better but I am not doing bad. I go back to the doctor on Wednesday and start mushie food. I have had my moments when I was scared i was going to F**k up.. I was a little pissed at myself for eating ANY cheesecake and mashed potatoes. In my head I was thinking "Oh my god that was like a 1000 calories" but in reality it w.as just a very small amount. So far I am very happy at the choice I have made but a side of me is scared shitless that I will not have the will power to make good choices. I just have to everyday tell myself that i am VERY luck to have this tool to help me loose weight and use the tool the way it was meant to be used..

Thanks for the rant and the vent!!! It felt good!!

  9. hi all

I know its to soon to judge however my belly looks bigger than before..

its only been two days. Friday i got banded.

But my stomach is like a basketball.

Not to much gas is being released..

How long does it usually take for the the swelling to go down.

and does anyone else feel nausea and some dizziness.

Also..Nausea and dizziness are a sign of dehydration!!

  10. OH yes I had the same bloat as you!

Walk ..walk ...walk...and sip your amount of fluids too, I take in 64oz per day along with 60-80grams of Protein. The walking is what will rid you of the bloat.

They fill your belly with gas so they can see what they are doing when you get your band, and express as much as they can before they seal you up!

My dr requires walking every 2 hours..it also keeps you from getting a DVT, so keep it up!Good luck~

  11. Hello all~

I was banded 12/6/10. I had a large hiatal hernia that also contained a large benign cyst! I had to stay overnight and did fairly well, I also had the Left shoulder pain, which is from the anesthesia. I have had my ups and downs, and feel like I'm on the mend. It amazes me when I read that people went shopping after leaving the hospital..lol I was just SO glad to be home!

I drink 64 oz of Fluid daily and am also on a liquid diet until Dec 22. I see the dr on Dec 21. My first fill will be in January. I work on being creative with it and have had no problems with the liquid diet at all..

    Happy banding all!

  12. I was denied my first time..I jumped through every hoop there was, including a sleep study..twice!!

I was devastated!! But when I called my Dr. they said that it wasn't uncommon to be denied the first time, not to worry..

So I made another appointment, discussed it all with my dr.. and 6 months later was approved.

I just had my surgery on Dec 6.

I can't see where you will have any problems, your ins co covers it, mine however did not. I had to jump thru the hoops to get it pre approved.

Keep a positive outlook, you can do this!!

  13. Hi there,

I was banded on Dec 6, so you are a little ahead of me. Lucky for me my surgeon provided me with a cookbook for different and flavorful additions to the Protein. I just posted one today. All liquid until the 22 of Dec for me so I will be creative. I found sipping on chicken boullion or beef bouillion really helps when the rest of the family is eating chicken of beef, I don't feel SO left out.lol

    Happy banding to you!

  14. HI there,

I too was banded on Dec 6, but had a huge hiatal hernia repair too. So I had to stay an extra day along with extra Fluid due to dehydration..fun stuff.

Still feeling kinda punk, walking every day tho, it's cold and snowy here so just in the house back and forth, but walking every hour for 5-7 minutes so that's helping.

I have between 50-80 to loose, so today is the first day of the rest of our lives!!
