hoping for lap band to sleeve

Sorry. I guess i didn't explain myself very well. I don't think that you should have a problem with the insurance company as long as you have a doctor that is willing to support you and it sound like you do. I believe that I never had a slipped band. I don’t know why the 1st doctor told me that. The 2nd doctor is willing to fight the insurance company to get the reversion or band fixed but I don’t have one. Sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you in any way.

hoping for lap band to sleeve

I don't think you should have a problem if you have a good doctor that is willing to fight for you!! I found out that the doctor who told me he could do anything was wrong. My new doctor said my BMI would not be an issue if there is something wrong with the band. I believe that I never had a slipped band. I will find out on Thursday. I am not sure what the reason was for the doctor to tell me my band slipped. All I can think of is that he didn’t want anything to do with me and my band. There is another patient that is having similar problems with this doctor but so far, we are the only two. Everyone just loves this doctor. It almost like cult and he is the profit. I am so angry that he has put me through all this stress!!!! Good Luck!!! I know that it will all work out for you!

    Band Slipped and unfilled

GOOD NEWS!!!!!!! I decided to go get a second opinion on my slipped band because I did not like what the 1st doctor told me. (All he could do is take it out because my BMI is 23.) I went to the doctor that original did my surgery. (She left the clinic where she did my surgery and works at another practice.) She did a fluoroscopy and told me that my band was not slipped. She said that I could get a fill now if I wanted. I don’t know if my band went back into place or my first two fluoroscopies were read wrong. All I know is that I don’t need surgery!!!! And my band is okay!!! I am so so happy about this.

Lauriearnold I am happy that you’re able to get everything resolved at your clinic. That was what I wanted to hear from my Baratric clinic.

I am with you Laurie, I have plastic surgery as well and i don't want to gain back the weight. I am so heart broken. I am hoping and praying that my band will go back in place. I am so scared to go to Mexico but I don’t want to leave without any restriction either.

    Why Band to Sleeve?

My band slipped after a tummy tuck. I have been banded for three years with no complications. My BMI is 23 (5’3, 130lbs). I was told that my only option is to have the band taken out. No surgeon will perform any bariatric surgery on me because the FDA will not allow any bariatric surgery on anyone with a BMI 30 or lower. I am so devastated.

hoping for lap band to sleeve

Aww man!!!! I am so sorry!!! As you know I am in the same situation. They will only remove my band because my BMI is 23. No reversion to sleeve. I have had my band for three years with no complications until I got a tummy tuck. I am soo disappointed!!!!! Keep informed on what they tell you.

I would love to hear about your experience. I am seriously considering going to Mexico. When are you having surgery?

    Band Slipped and unfilled

Sad news! I will not be a band to sleever. FDA requires BMI to be above 30 for any Bariatric surgery. Mine is 23. I can have the band removed but I do not want that!!!!! I am absolutely heart broken. I can either gain 40lbs to be considered, have it removed or live on soft foods and liquids. I guess that I will live on soft foods and liquids. Sooo disappointed!!!!! I am considering going to Mexico for the reversion but we will see. right now, i am just sooo sad and disappointed.

    revision waiting period

BUT..... It is done in one sugery.

    revision waiting period

My band has to be deflated for 3 months. I have to do everything as if I was having surgery for the 1st time. Seminar, consult with the doctor and three months of nutrition classes. I am going to have to wait 4 months to have my reversion. I am very concerned about gaining wait. So far, I have been tracking what I eat using MYFITNESSPAL. I am at goal weight right now but the doctor requires his patent’s to lose weight before they have surgery so it very important to me to maintain. I don’t want to be denied my surgery because I have gained weight.

    Band Slipped and unfilled

Update.... I had an appoinment with the doctor on March 26 about my slipped band. After being on a full liquied diet for 1 month, my band did not correct itself. I was old that I would have to have surgery. The baratric clinic does not fix the band. They will remove it and i will be reversion to the sleeve. I am glad about that But disapointed about having to do it all over again. I have to do the whole process over again, as if i were a new patient e.g. seminar, nutrition classes. I also have to be deflated for 3 months. I am so disappointed. This has been a BIG bump in the road! It looks like my sugery will be in late June, early July. Ugg. Good news.... I lost 7lbs being on the liquied diet. I have been tracking what I eat on MYFITNESSPAL and making sure that I keep my proteins up.

at goal weight band to sleeve

I was just wondering if anyone was at goal weight when they had their revisions from band to sleeve? What was the process like for you? Were you treated as if you were a new patient? I was banded 3 years ago. I have lost 100+ lbs and have gained a love for fitness. I am 5’3 and 130lbs. I feel that I have been very successful with the band. In December I got a lower body lift and tummy tuck. I got sick coming out of surgery and vomited several times. My band has slipped. I was on full liquids for a month and my band did not correct itself. The Bariatric clinic will not do surgery to fix the band they will revisions to a sleeve and I am okay with that. I don’t like that I have to do the whole process over again as if I am a new patient. My band has to be deflated for 3 months, I have to attend group and see the nutritionist for three months.
