  1. i had my seminar at the begining of august, pysch eval on the 31rst of august, fitness eval on the 4th of september and dietition on the 8th of september. I met with my surgeon for the first time on the 20th of september. I did all of my required stuff in October such as ekg, chest x-ray and bloodwork. I had my pre-op physical on the 29th of Nov along with my dietition follow up and I have my surgery on the 8th of december. i just had my second set of bloodwork done today. just enought time for the results to get back before surgery :)

It all really depends on insurance though. Good Luck!!!

  2. I have not done my pre op diet yet, but from the postings I feel like I am lucky that my Dr. only requires 1 week. I think I'd go crazy with 2. I think it is 4 days shakes and 3 days clear liquids. I was just curious though, during the pre op diet phase, does anyone have energy to exercise? Or do you just concentrate on the not feeling sick to your stomach, I know when I get to hungry I start getting nauseaus.

i have the energy to, it's hard not to focus on being hungry, all weekend to keep my mind off it i have been playing my computer game. accidentaly stayed up till 2 am last night i was so engrossed lol

  3. Ok I am on a 2 week liquid diet and down to my 6th day...and I am having some serious food cravings...I have been strictly doing my clear liquid diet for 4 days, had a small portion on Turkey day and then back to the diet..It is hard, but I am wondering how long does it really take to shrink you liver. :o I know that this is a new journey and I am up for the change that is coming, but eating nothing for 2 weeks but sf Jello, popsicles, and drinking broth, Protein Shakes, and crystal light is giving me the worse head aches..

I have 8 days to go and my surgery is on Dec. 6 so it is all down hill and I will do my best to stay to the liquids for the remainder of these days...

Nothing that we really want comes easy in life...stay strong everyone...let's support one another thru this part of our new journey....:D

the first day was horrible for me! i had a horrible headache, i was nauseous all day and almost pucked once from being so hungry and then my body just hurt all over. it sucked so bad even my hubby was feeling sorry for me. the second day i woke up and felt great though! it was a real shocker to me, i was expecting misery for at least the first week. Also today on day 3 i still feel great!

  4. What help me was the 80/20 rule;) I was good most of the time but I did allow myself to cheat not the whole day but one meal and then I was back on track. My last meal before my band was Chick fil a meal number one lol but i never had soda, Oh yea an I had pumkin cheesecake:lol: Trust me this is how to make it. Because after the band nothing but liquid So I thank God I did it:D

    when was your surgery?

  5. My husband is in the Navy and we use tricare, they are covering my surgery. I will have to pay $100 a fill according to the surgeon office. Has anyone heard different that tricare will cover the fills? Also has anyone had to change providers yet due to a move? How do you switch after your move?

    Thanks for any information :)

Good morning all, I was wondering if anyone else had used the FMLA (family medical leave act) to cover the time you need off for your surgery? My curiosity lies in how much did your provider charge you to get this form filled out? I was charged $20 for a nurse to look in my file and check yes or no questions. I can understand why allot of medical stuff is expensive, but I don't charge someone $20 extra dollars to fill out something that took all of two minutes. I wish I got paid like that lol

  8. The fact that you didn't know any of this was going to happen means that you didn't listen to your provider or your provider didn't inform you of what was going to happen. I just went to my nutritionist last night and she went over everything step by step. They should have told you this wasn't an outpatient procedure. Also that fact that you can't eat allot should have been evident, after all you just had a gastric band put in. I think this comes down to a lack of research on the part of the patient. <_<

  9. my goals aren't measured by height and weight, I just want to go to six flags with my hubby and fit on the roller coasters again, and fit into my wedding dress for our recommitment cermony, or go into a store that isn't strickly for the plus size lot and buy an outfit. I guess my goal is to enjoy life again and feel comfortable in my own skin :)

  10. food was my friend too, my comforter, but just like in an abusive realtionship you would not stay and take the abuse. food allows you to do the same thing . . . move on and let a hot bath comfort you, a good book and chat with a friend on the phone. We all know we never felt better really when we ate for comfort. No guilt in a hot bath or good book.

I never looked at it that way before, your right. Food just makes it worse in the long run. Thanks for your 2 cents :)

  11. I am in the same boat as you, although I work in the medical field and I see alot of this type of thing. patients lose weight and they get pregnant like nothing was ever wrong with them. My husband didn't support me in the surgery until he new it safe to have children after the 2 year mark with the band. This is one of the main reasons I am having the band put in because not only do I want to get pregnant but I want a healthy pregnancy when I get to that point. I have my surgery on the 8th of December

this is a link to a blog for a woman who had a baby after surgery. i don't think she had issues with PCOS but it was insitful to read her journey to this point after the baby is here. although it is a very quite blog these days, here journey is still there to read.

  12. I am still pre-surgery, I was doing good and eating right staying at a constant weight. not losing but not gaining either, then I got my surgery date and I can't seem to stop eating everything in site. I really don't know how to put into words what going on in my head but I will try. food has always been the center of everything I do, from clothes that don't fit to feeling guilty even after eating a salad. Now that I will be restricted in my eating, I feel almost as if I am losing a huge part of me, like I'm losing a friend. I know that this is a huge life change and I am just curious if anyone else has gone through this sort thing pre-surgery? :blushing:
