Today, November 19th 2013 marks one year since my sleeve gastrectomy! I am 140 pounds down and without any regrets! I am so grateful that I had this second chance at a healthy life!!!!! I took some time today to recognize my friends and family for all of the incredible support and encouragement that I've been provided with during this amazing journey. Nothing about this adventure has been easy, but it certainly has been worthwhile. <3
The picture left is me BEFORE, one year ago at my highest weight- 296 pounds. The right is me NOW at 156 pounds. I still want to lose about 16 more to weigh in at 140 pounds

I am reposting this Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that another sleever posted. I don't remember her name and it's not on the sheet, but she posted it for everyone.

I can't wait to start logging numbers into it. At the bottom, there are 2 tabs. The second one has the directions on it.

The numbers plugged in are mine but I think you just click in that first box on the top (follow the directions) and put your own starting weight and it changes everything for you.

I got a food scale and some cute little 3 ounce "dishes" from Rachel Ray off Amazon. I figured if I was going to eat that small amount of food, I wanted cute dishes!
Do you hae a blender, stick blender or shaker bottles? I've been told the protein powders don't mix well with stirring.
Along with the Gas-X, a heating pad to also help with gas.
A small pillow to hold against your stomach on the way home (between you and the seatbelt) and also to press against your stomach if/when you need to cough.
I also got a body composition scale to hopefully show weight loss, water gain/loss and muscle gain...in hopes of helping through the dreaded stalls!
Also a good measuring tape to measure different areas, again to help with the stall, to show you that you really are losing inches if not pounds!
Also some Crystal light powders? Some people add those to Isopure or other Protein Drinks to help cover the protein taste.

Day 1 of my pre-op diet wasn't bad. I expected it to be much worse.
I'm really looking forward to the pounds falling off me - both pre-op and post-op.

Made it through my executive board management lunch meeting today!! Phew! Tons of food all around. There was a fantastic spread of all the wrong kinds of food for me! But there was big tossed salad, so I had some with light dressing. Gosh there was 3 trays of desserts! I only had a cup of hot tea for dessert. Of course, everyone looked at me and said, you're really serious about this surgery and pre-op stuff, huh? I said yep. So go ahead and enjoy your treats, I'm fine.
Everyone just laughed and said, you're doing the right thing, we support you. It's nice to have support all around me, at work, at home and at play. I haven't had anyone doubt it or bad mouth the surgery yet.
Okay day 2 of pre-op almost over. I'm feeling pretty strong about sailing through this.. My sister is already making special arrangements for me for Thanksgiving. Just Love HER!

Only thing I would suggest would be to enjoy Thanksgiving day, have some cake for your birthday and then strictly low carb it the rest of the time andwatch your empty calories with sodas.

First day of pre-op went pretty good. Two Premier chocolate shakes, one for Breakfast, one lunch; two sugar free popsicles for Snacks and for dinner, 3 oz of tuna and a small salad with cucumbers and light dressing.
Drank about 60 oz of Water (pretty much my usual), hard part was not drinking with my dinner meal and waiting 30 min before an after before I could have some diet ice-tea, also chewing every bite approx. 20x.
Tomorrow. Temptation! Day 2. I have a lunch meeting, gonna do small salad and that's it.. (fingers crossed)...lol

Hello Everyone! I will be sleeved on Dec. 3!! I can't believe it is only two weeks away. I am nervous, overwhelmed and feeling about 50 other different emotions lol! I start my Pre Op two week liquid diet tomorrow...just so happens to fall on Thanksgiving so no Turkey for me but I am ok with that. I have had enough amazing Thanksgiving to last a lifetime... and I am trying to get away with it being my favorite holiday lol.
Its been a crazy month trying to fit these pre surgical testing and appointments, as well as tying up loose ends at work while I will be out. But its all going to be worth it...I can't wait to get things moving and start living a new life. This summer I will be beach ready!!!
Good luck to everyone out there and the start of our new journey!!!

I am so excited! My preop starts right after tgiving. I was somewhat sad that I wouldn't get to have a peppermint milkshake before preop because I hadn't seen any advertisements. BUT today, I get an email that they are now available! Woo hoo! I will have one or 2 between this week and next. Will be so satisfying! I am savoring every last bite between now and then!

Hi Robin! You and I share similar stats! It will be neat going through this together! I am 5"4 and about 306. I would also hope to get to about 145 (have no recollection of being that weight so I have NO idea what that would be like but I'm excited to find out!!)
Welcome to the group! My surgery date is the 13th

    Hi everyone!
For those of you (like me) who can't wait to get our own manuals/plans from our surgeons or for those who have gone to Mexico and/or otherwise feel they did not get enough information for aftercare, I found an online PDF to a patient care manual from Peachtree Bariatrics here in GA. Several people on this board have used this doctor, Dr. Titus Duncan.
Although I will certainly follow MY surgeon's plan, it is nice to see a complete example of what to expect.
It has useful info for before and after surgery. It gives food plans for the different stages. It also lists different medications that are okay or not okay.
    It is in PDF form.
Hope others find this as helpful as I do!

Hi! My name is Robin. I'm 5'5 and 300 pds. My goal weight is between 140-150 pds. I am soo happy to be able to say I have a scheduled date!! I'm due to be operated on Dec 16th. My doctor is Dr. Yatco at Lenox Hill Hospital in Nyc. I have a few tests to complete which should be done after tomorrow with my primary doctor and then I meet with the surgeon on the 20th. I'm excited and nervous. I love reading about other people's successes and drawbacks. I've been going to youtube increasingly these days to follow other people's video journeys as well. I think it's a great resource.
    Welcome Everybody!!
