    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I've decided to make a poster board to hand INSIDE my closet door (so no one sees it but me!). I will take a picture once a month in the same clothes (hopefully can find some tight workout clothes that I can still put on). Then behind the picture for each month, I will write the weight, measurements and BMI so I can see them. My hubby has no idea what I weigh. My mom will help with the measurements. Even though all he would have to do would be to lift up the photo, he wouldn't. Maybe on my own computer, I will keep a weekly log of numbers, but I don't think I will need to take a picture every single week. Can't wait to get all of that started!

I got a food scale and some cute little 3 ounce "dishes" from Rachel Ray off Amazon. I figured if I was going to eat that small amount of food, I wanted cute dishes! Do you hae a blender, stick blender or shaker bottles? I've been told the protein powders don't mix well with stirring. Along with the Gas-X, a heating pad to also help with gas. A small pillow to hold against your stomach on the way home (between you and the seatbelt) and also to press against your stomach if/when you need to cough. I also got a body composition scale to hopefully show weight loss, water gain/loss and muscle gain...in hopes of helping through the dreaded stalls! Also a good measuring tape to measure different areas, again to help with the stall, to show you that you really are losing inches if not pounds! Also some Crystal light powders? Some people add those to Isopure or other protein drinks to help cover the protein taste.

Only thing I would suggest would be to enjoy Thanksgiving day, have some cake for your birthday and then strictly low carb it the rest of the time andwatch your empty calories with sodas.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I am very excited and very ready for this surgery and lifestyle change! I am self pay and could have had the surgery earlier in November but I do not recover well from procedures. I had laparoscopic gallbladder removal last year and couldn't stand up straight for 2 weeks! This surgery will be similar. Pain meds just don't work for me. I host all holidays at my house. Last year, we were between houses, and had no room in that house to host anything!! So, I have to celebrate the holidays this year. I would have been perfectly fine with not eating Thanksgiving dinner even if everyone else was, but I didn't want to be miserable trying to cook it! I have been practicing, though. I am very aware of chewing my food. I already don't drink much during my meal unless I haven't chewed well, so that's not as big of an issue for me. I'm cutting out caffeine and soda gradually. I've also been leaving food on my plate. I grew up with the "clean your plate" demands and I have issues with that. I'm not going out of my way to eat things I know I can't or shouldn't eat later on, but I am enjoying what I do eat! My 2 week preop starts right after Thanksgiving so I will send leftovers home with folks instead of keeping them! I will stock the kitchen with self serve foods for my Mom and hubby. So excited to get this done!

I am so excited! My preop starts right after tgiving. I was somewhat sad that I wouldn't get to have a peppermint milkshake before preop because I hadn't seen any advertisements. BUT today, I get an email that they are now available! Woo hoo! I will have one or 2 between this week and next. Will be so satisfying! I am savoring every last bite between now and then!

Hi Robin! You and I share similar stats! It will be neat going through this together! I am 5"4 and about 306. I would also hope to get to about 145 (have no recollection of being that weight so I have NO idea what that would be like but I'm excited to find out!!) Welcome to the group! My surgery date is the 13th

  9. Hi everyone! For those of you (like me) who can't wait to get our own manuals/plans from our surgeons or for those who have gone to Mexico and/or otherwise feel they did not get enough information for aftercare, I found an online PDF to a patient care manual from Peachtree Bariatrics here in GA. Several people on this board have used this doctor, Dr. Titus Duncan. Although I will certainly follow MY surgeon's plan, it is nice to see a complete example of what to expect. It has useful info for before and after surgery. It gives food plans for the different stages. It also lists different medications that are okay or not okay. It is in PDF form. Hope others find this as helpful as I do! http://www.peachtree...ient-Manual.pdf

I think that's what this one was supposed to be, following each other from before, during and on to meeting goals and maintenance.

    Let's Talk Fashion

I just did a store locator and there are about 13 in Washington. Not sure if any are near you. It appears that they have Miss Me jeans too. I just know they are big on finding the right fit and putting outfits together for you. They will even "pull" outfits for you. We took my 16 yo stepson in there to look for a shirt and it was like Pretty Woman where different associates were just bringing shirts to him!

I've been whiney about not having any time off after the surgery. I work part time and already took my 1 week of vacation. It never occurred to me to ask, especially since its medical! So I asked what my options were and was told to go ahead and fill out paperwork for FMLA "just in case" I need an unexpected extended time off. I got all of that taken care of and now will have about 9 days off! So glad to know I can at least recover for just a bit!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Welcome brennalynn! Even though we think of 72 hours as 3 days, I think in hospital speak, 72 hours is anything less then 96 hours, you know what I mean? So, overnight is less than 24 hours (usually 23 hours). One day in the hospital is over 24 hours but under 48. So technically you could be in 2 nights (depending on the time of your surgery). Hope that helps! Glad to have you in our group! I have 150 to lose! Looking forward to our big losses! Good luck to you, Baeball Mom! Glad to have you in here with us! Fingers crossed, Jenny! Nice start to the new year!

    Gossip About The New Neighbors

Not sure if this helps anyone but I found that if I go on the main site and click on new content (all the lap band new content comes up) but on the right it says "filter by forums." When I clicked on that, I was able to uncheck the lap band forums and click only the sleeve forums that I wanted to follow. Once I did that, it was consistent on my iPad, with new content only showing the sleeve forums that I selected! Hope that helps someone!

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I've heard of others having only clears for at least a week after surgery. It does seem odd to have basically no calories or protein for so long. I wonder if the Unjury chicken broth protein would be ok?
