    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Hi! MinWin started that thread. You can do a search for her threads or posts. I'm not at my computer so don't have access to link it for you.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Thank you so much for the well wishes. The pain meds do seem to be helping but I'm having terrible nausea, burping and burning. I'm on protonix and now carafate to help with reflux and zofran for the nausea but having a hard time getting it to ease. Hoping things calm overnight for a brand new day!

Thank you so much. You are always right there with positive words and thoughts for everyone. I don't have regrets. Just hoping to move past this phase. Hopefully thus round if meds will do the trick.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

So I saw my surgeon today concerning pain control. I had asked him to have a backup plan as I have known issues with pain meds not working. He didn't have a bakup plan and I think there was a misunderstanding and they thought I had taken all of the dilaudid and wanted more. I gold him I still had half a bottle left and showed him. So I have been in a decline since the initial numbing from surgery started wearing off Tuesday. I can recline (pushed way back)and I can lay flat but sitting up, standing, getting up and down, hurts! So I haven't been able to sit up for more than 15 min but because he didn't have a backup plan, I had to drive 1 hour to his office, sit 30 min in the waiting room and then sit 15 in the exam room. Then he gave me new meds, told us to drop off the scripts and go to lunch. I said, lunch? He said, or a smoothie or protein drink. Drove another hour towards home. Went in to fill meds and Wal-Mart didn't have 2. Had to go to an apothecary shop and sit 20 min then drive home. By the time I got home, it had been 5 hours! For the first time, I was starving! I ate a couple of bites of applesauce and then took the carafate, roxicet and oxycontin. Hoping this helps and hoping I fall asleep and start all over.

Mine gave a generic "more than 60 g". Using your method, I'm glad I'm short! Lol. Mine would be 81. Mi premier protein has 30 so if I could finally get in 3 like I'm supposed to, that would be 90. Right now I'm just doing 2.

Mine still hurts (13th) I don't even try to bend over. Too afraid of popping a stitch somewhere. Standing and sitting are the worst. Sorry, I'm no help. I do know that I'm not usual so I wouldn't base anything in my experience. Hope you feel better soon!

The most common reason for the shoulder pain is trapped gas from surgery. Walking is supposed to help but since you're not getting a lot in, I've seen others talk about using a heating pad to the area. I'm 6 days out and declining in recovery (not serious, just feeling worse than better). Drinking the fluids seems like a full time job. Just today I started with the suggestion of literally setting a timer on my phone to take in 2 oz every 15 minutes. I've been feeling so full and didn't know if I was drinking too fast or too much, so following the timer guideline, I feel better about that.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Okay, so I've decided on a theory. My theory is that whatever they numbed me with for surgery started wearing off Tuesday evening. That's when my pain started increasing. I got out of the house fir the first time yesterday, took 2 dilaudid before going, didn't last very long and had increased pain for the rest of the day. Also, had originally tolerated my vitamins and am no longer. This is frustrating as my 2 appts w my surgeon focused on pain control as I have issues with pain meds not working. I begged him to have a backup plan in case the dilaudid didn't work. He us an hour away and I told him my pcp was willing to help prescribe meds at his request because clearly if I was calling due to pain, I wouldnt really be looming to drive for 2 hours while my pcp is around the corner. So, now I have to go to his office tomorrow and bring my meds so he can see that I haven't taken them all and am asking for more! My pcp could do that too. I can't get my walks because I'm in too much pain when not reclined. I can barely sit jingle any time. I wasn't even going to get time off if work (working from home 4 hours each night) but got off a week. Supposed to start back Sunday. So frustrated as he told me he believed me about pain control and it wouldn't be a problem.

You can also look up recipes for meatzza where the "crust" is made of meat! Some non-low carbers (just meat lovers) tried it and loved it!

I'm in decent pain. Pain meds don't generally work for me like they do most people. If I'm still, almost no pain. Getting up and down, terrible pain! Buy, I'm unusual, so don't let me scare you! Otherwise, I'm getting fluids in easily and not hungry at all. Down 21 pounds, 15 preop.

So sorry you are not supported at home. That can make things so much harder. Sometimes it is a fear that you may lose weight and no longer want him. Weight loss can definitely break up couples. Good luck tomorrow and remember you are doing this for you!
  20. I was told we're not supposed to take NSAIDS due to the fact that they can cause ulcers in anybody but with our stomachs being so small, there us less room for us to develop an ulcer. We were told we could take it vert, very sparingly but definitely not regularly.

Thank you! I will see tomorrow. I hadn't been taking much. The only difference today is that I tried the Wal-Mart brand water flavor drops in my water. I'm going to eliminate that and continue on the constipation angle (although I did go yesterday, all day!).

That's wonderful! I haven't been tired throughout thus either. Just have the terrible muscle pain behind the big incision. Glad I got a week off after all.

I'm supposed to count everything without caffeine as a fluid.
