    How often do you PB?

I voted on this poll this morning and was proud to say that I'd never PBed. However I just did and it was a horrible, horrible experience. I hope it was just a one off!

    February 2007 bandsters!

.....that I've PBed. It was so stupid; I went into the kitchen to make some dinner and found that I didn't have what I wanted. I ended up eating some small cold sausages. Half way through the second I got the awful pain in my chest and started sliming. Then I PBed the lot up. Horrible, horrible experience! Note to self: do not eat anything that isn't planned and carefully thought out! :o

    UK Local Lap-Band Support

Hi Sara, I don't usually lose as much as this week every week. I've had 2 periods of 2 weeks when I haven't lost anything at all. I seem to lose in fits and starts but I have some restriction now and struggle to make 1000 calories a day so hopefully that will bode well for my weight loss. I have been very impressed with BMI Healthcare; did you self pay as well? As you live in Winchester which isn't too far from where I live do you fancy meeting up sometime?

    UK Local Lap-Band Support

I know I should only weigh once a week but I weigh morning and evening everyday. It's kind of an obsession and I hope to get it under control. I take my weight loss for the week from Saturday am to Saturday am. I lost 4.5lbs this week so I am well chuffed!

    Ummmmmmmm addiction to this site??

I'm pretty addicted to this site. It makes me feel as if I'm not going through this alone.

Please!! I need help with this!!

I'm not an expert on port infections but Fay (username MrsD) has just had to have her band removed due to MRSA infection in her port. Why don't you send her a pm; she's really nice and friendly and will be able to advise you more than me! Best of luck with clearing the infection!
  7. I was banded around the same time as you and I felt no restriction after my first fill on March 28th; I was even able to eat pizza and drink soda! I have now had fill number 2 and I am starting to feel restriction. Rest assured you have not stretched your pouch or your band. You probably just need another fill!
  8. You are just like I was 3 days post-op. Rest assured within a few days you will be able to drink normally!
  9. It took me a little under a month due to complications with a hiatal hernia having to be repaired before the band could be placed. I tried to go back after two weeks but the pain around my port was too severe and I was dizzy from being unable to breath deeply after the repair. Everyone is different but I think I was the exception rather than the rule!!lol!!

    Hiccup/Burp - 5 days post op - help?

I shouldn't worry too much about hiccuping and burping. I burped a lot after surgery and my band is perfectly intact and doing it's job well. Everything is bound to feel a bit odd for a time as it's probably still very swollen from being being pulled about during the surgery. Your stomach will never feel like it did before the surgery but you will get to learn what is normal and what isn't. Hope this helps put your mind at rest!

    What Keeps You Full/Satisfied?

I find drier foods keep me fuller for longer; crispbreads things like that. I'm also very strict with not drinking while I'm eating as that can speed up the passage of food through the stoma. Hope all goes well with your surgery!

I need honest feedback please but be nice..

    Great words Regina!
  13. I'm sure you haven't done anything to damage your band/pouch. You haven't had a fill yet so shouldn't be experiencing restirction yet anyway. I have only just started to feel a bit of restriction after my second fill! Just keep doing what you're doing and I'm sure you will be fine. If in doubt talk to your surgeon!
  14. I had my second fill yesterday and this is the first day I've had full restriction: Not a very healthy day I'm afraid: Breakfast: Small bowl of cornflakes Lunch: 3/4 sausage; a few chips and Beans -had to eat out at lunchtime so I opted for a childrens meal! Dinner: 3 fish fingers with tartare sauce -very tired after work. I had cooked myself 4 but ended up throwing the last one together with spitting out the last mouthful as I just knew that it wasn't going to go down (sorry I know that's too much info :nervous) I will definitely get some fruit and veges in tomorrow!
  15. There has been some research recently that the band is semi-permeable and that very small amounts of saline leak out over a period of time. This means that even after you think you've had it adjusted just right you may need an annual adjustment. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=11288845&dopt=Abstract I've had two fillls in as many weeks and they are not too traumatic. All I feel is a sharp scratch when the local anaesthetic goes in and then nothing. Best of luck!

    Is this OK help

I was exactly the same and it took two fills for me to feel restriction. I'm now only able to eat very small quantities.

i find im eating allot worse b4 my lap band

I was exactly like that before my surgery. I was fortunate in that I didn't gain too much weight. I think it's only natural when you know you're going to have to restrict your intake later on. Now I'm on the other side food doesn't bother too much and I do have the occasional fast food fix but only a few fries out of my husbands box!!lol!! Best of luck with your surgery!

    Finally down 50 lbs!

Congratulations Julie! 50lbs is awesome; I'm not even halfway to that yet.

    February 2007 bandsters!

I had my second fill today! I didn't get any restriction at all with the first one last week and I was starting to feel as if I the band wasn't going to work!!lol!! I really think I have some restriction now as I can feel a difference even with just drinking water. I'm not brave enough to try anything else just yet.

What does restriction feel like for you???

I finally decided to have another fill. I had an additional 1.25cc added. Apparently there was some air in the band. Hopefully I will start to feel some proper restriction now!
  21. I had my first fill yesterday and have started to eat normally again today. After eating today I get this feeling of pressure in my throat but nothing whatsoever from my stomach. I thought you were supposed to feel a tightness when the pouch became full but I'm feeling nothing at all. Is this feeling in my throat restriction or just a reaction to the fill? I can go back next week for another fill but I don't want to push it if I already have restriction as my consultant will be on holiday the following week if I run into difficulty with being too tight. Any advice from veteran bandsters out there?

    Baby Food??

I ate a lot of the baby cereals post op and they were really nice. I still eat the rusks sometimes as they're fortified with extra Vitamins but I'm trying to eat proper food now as the baby stuff slips down too easily :nervous

    Huge hiatal hernia pic

Do you really class that hernia as huge? My surgeon took a photo of mine and it was about half as much again. No wonder I was in pain and suffering from anaemia!!

    what I wish I had known/done presurgery

I agree with you. Between this site, my consultant and my dietician I was really well informed prior to my surgery!

What does restriction feel like for you???

Congratulations on your loss this week! I'm looking forward to not feeling hungry; that really would be a bonus right now. I seem a average about 1000 calories and I managed to lose 2.5lbs this week but it has been tough.
