    no carbonatation?

You may be ok with carbonated drinks until you have your first fill. I was and then it changed. I now find when I burp after having a carbonated drink I tend to regurgitate it. It's not very pleasant but if you can live with that I see no reason why you shouldn't have one occasionally.

    February 2007 bandsters!

While I agree with the exercise regime; trying to eat less than 800 kcal a day is too extreme. In the long term it's not sustainable and will lead to the eating you're trying to avoid. Try to aim for 1000 kcal; you'll still lose weight. I eat between 900 - 1200 kcal a day and I am losing well despite being unable to exercise yet. I lost 4.5lbs last week and 3lbs so far this week. Hope all goes well and don't beat yourself up about the slip!

    Google and your privacy

While I agree that LBT should come up on a Google search; I've found that individual topics are flagged. When I've searched for my consultant on Google; topics that I've posted in have been hit just because his name is in my signature. I think this is going a bit too far and constitutes an invasion of privacy!

    How about PF-ing?

I love the term PFing!!lol!! It describes the incident wonderfully!

    Crushing Meds right after surgery

I've had no problems taking my medication since being banded. I was told to make sure I took it with plenty of water.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Luckily there is a private health club where I live and they have a lovely heated pool. It only costs £30 (about $50) a month and I can swim as often as I want to!

    February 2007 bandsters!

I'm not allowed to exercise for another week due to the extra hiatal hernia repair. I intend start swimming as soon as I am able. It hasn't affected my weight loss so far though.
  12. I think your Mom's problems are down to her insecurities about her weight. She's probably been consoling herself over the years with the thought that at least she's smaller than you. Well that's not going to be the case for much longer is it? I think you just need to tell her how hurtful she's being and that you are doing this for the benefit of your health. As a mother she should understand that!
  13. I've completely lost my taste for diet coke which is a real plus. I seem to enjoy my food much more now and I make sure that everything I eat is of really good quality. Everything tastes so much better when you really slow down and savour it.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Andrea, My PBing episode was my fault. I ate far too quickly and suffered the consequences. I've stopped feeling sore now. I still seem to be losing really well at the moment. I lost 3.5lbs last week and I have lost another 2.5lbs since Saturday. I think I am playing catch up from staying the same for a while!

Sara, I've had two fills and Mr Krysztopik uses a local anaesthetic so neither fill was particularly painful. The first didn't have any effect but the second has given me restriction. I did feel a weird sensation around my stomach the second time. I was a little worried about eating afterwards but I just stuck to fluid for the rest of the day and I was fine. You will be too!

6 small meals verses 3 regular meals

I thinks there's a tendency to eat more that way. I'm sticking to 3 meals and losing fine! You can keep your metabolism going through activity and exercise!

    Lap band and volume eaters.

I was a volume eater before the band. I could eat a huge roast dinner and two desserts and still have room to spare. Since the band I can only eat a couple of ounces at a time. The one time I ate much I PBed!
  18. I'm no longer able to drink coke following my second fill. It just bubbles up my oesophagus.

    Who Drinks soda?

I haven't been able to drink soda since my second fill. When I burp afterwards the soda just comes up as well. I was a diet coke addict before but I seem to have been able to give it up without too much trouble!

    February 2007 bandsters!

I'm not getting enough protein and I am losing hair! I have loads to spare though so I'm not too worried at the moment!

    Sara; you have a pm!
  22. I had my first PB today and needless to say it wasn't a pleasant experience. Now 3 hours later I'm still feeling sore in my chest and throat. Is this a normal occurence? I haven't eaten anything solid since and won't until tomorrow. To think I was contemplating have another fill as I wasn't getting any sensations from my pouch!

    Constipation? TMI

I'm 8 weeks post op and I'm still having problems with constipation; I just don't drink enough water. I had 3 hours of excruciating cramps this afternoon and finally managed 'to go'. I can't take any laxatives as they aggravate my IBS. Once on solids drinking lots of water is the key!

    Nausea

I experience extreme nausea about 4 days post op and ended up having to get a prescription for anti nausea medication. It worked a treat and I was able to stop taking it after 48 hours. I think it's a side effect of having the stomach interfered with during the surgery.
  25. Until this afternoon I would have agreed with you!!lol!! I had my first PB after eating one and a half cold chipolata sausages. The pain in my chest was really bad and I was very surprised and how violent the PB was! It wasn't the amount I ate but the speed and lack of chewing that caused it. I know better now and won't be repeating the experience if I can help it! As for my band size; I have an 8cc band filled with 5cc of saline and I think for now I'm about right. It sounds to me as if you're too tight and may need an unfill. If you can't eat normally and you're surviving on sweet Desserts that isn't going to help your weight loss. I think you need to be able to eat healthier food for a more sustained weight loss. Hope all goes well!
