    February 2007 bandsters!

I tried to take my pills crushed yesterday in a little chocolate spread but they tasted disgusting and it lingered for 2 hours so today I just broke it into smaller pieces and that seemed to work better. As for the other problem the lactulose that I took yesterday morning worked well and I am now taking my Fybogel as a preventative

    February 2007 bandsters!

Hi Charlotte, I have a little over 5 weeks before I see Josh and I can't wait. I'm 4th row from the front and I am literally counting every day!!lol!! I'm sure I will totally freak out when I'm there. What's the set list like for this tour. I keep looking on FOJG but no one says anything about what he sings!

    February 2007 bandsters!

Fantastic!! I still don't wear jeans as I hate the way I look in them I will have to be a US size 12 (UK 16) before I'll wear them.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Thank you so much for the compliment! It really helps to have the photos to look back on. I'm also keeping a spreadsheet of my measurements. Including bust, waist, hips, thighs and upper arms I've lost a of 22" that's nearly 2 feet !!lol!! I finally feel like I'm getting somewhere with this!
  8. It sounds to me as if you are too tight. It could settle down seeing as your fill was so recent. See how you go over the next few days and if it doesn't improve go back to your doctor. In the meantime eat slowing and really chew your food. Hope everything settles down for you.

I usually use GIMP. You can download it for free and then all you do if select scale image from one of the menus. Hope this helps.

    Is the lap band healthy?

To be honest I think it comes down to making comparisions. The lap band is healthier than being morbidly obese and healthier in the long run than a gastric bypass. It was a no brainer for me when making the decision to have the surgery.
  11. I think what you're describing is sliming. You probably ate too fast and didn't chew properly and it got caught on the band. I've done it once and had exactly the same symptoms as you except that I regurgitated everything that was in my pouch. I've slowed my eating right down and I haven't had it happen again.

    This forum is dangerous

I wonder whether her username of dislexi is a clue about why she's so particular about spelling??

    This forum is dangerous

I find this forum invaluable. At home with my family no one can possibly know what it's like going through the surgery and living with the band. This forum makes me feel as if I'm not going through this alone. I use this site as a way of communicating with people who are going through what I am going through; in a way it is like a lifeline. I certainly don't come here for medical advice. I have the intelligence to work out what is right and wrong for myself.

    Have the 1st fills helped?

I didn't feel any difference with my first fill. Fortunately Mr Krysztopik was available to give me another fill 7 days later. I am now optimally restricted and have lost 8lbs in 2 weeks. Don't worry if you don't get perfect restriction from your first fill as most doctors are very conservative when doing band adjustments. Hope all goes well for you!

    February 2007 bandsters!

........to upload my weight journey photos to photobucket. I hate having my photo taken but I really wanted to catalogue my journey. I still have way over 100lbs to lose so I'm still really big but I look a lot better than I did!

    Overnight Stay?

I had to stay overnight as it was standard practice at my hospital. I was actually booked in for two nights but it was just a precautionary measure. As I've mentioned ad nauseum on here I had a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time and required morphine the first night so it was a good job I stayed in.

    So this is pretty cool....

Welcome to the world of restriction. It's fantastic isn't it? I literally struggle to eat 1000 calories a day now whereas before the surgery I'd struggle to keep it below 2000!!lol!! I'm losing at least 3lbs a week at the moment and I haven't even started exercising yet. Best of luck to you!

    February 2007 bandsters!

Thanks for all of your advice. I think to get myself moving I'll use a mild laxative like lactulose and then take Fybogel as a preventative. BTW The pill has passed. The tea didn't work but it passed on its own eventually. I am so relieved I can't begin to tell you. I am also starving now as all I've eaten all day is 1 slice of toast!

    February 2007 bandsters!

Still struggling with the stuck pill. I haven't had lunch yet and it's nearly 4pm but I feel really nauseous. On the bright side I may lose a bit of extra weight from not eating today!!lol!!

    February 2007 bandsters!

We call it Fybogel and yes that's a great idea. I'll pick some up when I'm next in town. I'm currently dealing with getting my medication stuck. I always break it up but one bit is stuck and I've been feeling sick now for about an hour. I'm going to try an extra hot cup of tea to try and shift it. Oh the joys of bandhood!!

    Last straw stories

...........I spent 5 years planning on how I was going to lost weight and every time I tried to start it would last about a week if I was lucky; sometimes I wouldn't make it to lunchtime. Then on December 13th 2006 there was a news item which said that they were going to make the lap band available for teenagers in the UK for the first time. Up until then I had never considered WLS as an option for me. It was always something somebody else did. It was like a light went on in my head; why not me? Within a week I'd had my initial assessment with the dietician and been referred on to the consultant. I saw Mr Krysztopik early January and was banded February 13th 2007. I haven't regretted it for a moment and I am the lightest I've been for 3 years.

    February 2007 bandsters!

I've never tried prune juice is it really gross? Babygrl1234 I've never heard of metamucil. I live in the UK so I'm not sure if it goes by a different name over here.

    February 2007 bandsters!

I'm still experiencing optimal restriction following my second fill. I lost 3.5lbs this week (4.5lbs last week). I do seem to be having problems with extreme constipation. I haven't had a BM for a week ! I've been trying to drink more and exercise but nothing is helping. I think I may have to resort to taking something, which I hate as I suffer from IBS and laxatives pay havoc with it. Does anyone have any useful tips for dealing with this?

    I hit 230 this a.m.

Congratulations Julie! You have worked hard and waited a long time for it.

    what I wish I had known/done presurgery

If you're just having the band fitted during surgery the pain afterwards is not supposed to be too bad. I had a hiatal hernia repaired as well which meant I was in a lot of pain afterwards and required morphine the first night. I'm sure you will be fine and get through it. Most of us have on here Best of luck with your forthcoming surgery!
