Constipation

I had dreadful constipation for weeks. I'd literally go for 8 days with a bm. However since taking laxatives to initially clear myself out I've found just eating an apple a day is enough to keep me going 2-3 a week. I also make sure I drink plenty during the day. Hope this helps!

    February 2007 bandsters!

I definitely need another. I managed to eat a load of pasta this evening without any feedback from my band. It's so annoying as I've just broken a plateau and was looking forward to losing again!

    February 2007 bandsters!

I had two fills within a week of each other as the first one didn't do anything. I thought the second one was enough but I was able to eat bread today without any trouble. With my package I can get a fill whenever I need one at no extra cost.

    February 2007 bandsters!

Congratulations on sorting it out!!lol!! I was even beginning to doubt myself there for a while. I don't even know what size band I have just that it can hold 8mls but can be forced to hold 15mls if needed!

    February 2007 bandsters!

I think I need to get another fill; it will be my third. I currently have just under 5ml in my band which is supposed to hold about 8ml. I was experiencing good restriction but that seems to have gone over the past few days. I even managed to eat some white bread today which I couldn't do a week ago. Fortunately I just have to call my doctor tomorrow and he'll do it on Wednesday. I'm so glad I paid for the aftercare!!

    lap band and hiatal hernia

I had an enormous hiatus hernia repaired during my lap band surgery but I knew I had one as I was very symptomatic i.e. chest pain, anaemia, extremely bad reflux. What I wasn't prepared for was how big it was. The hole in my diaphragm was approximately 2" in diameter and half of my stomach was in my chest. Fortunately my oesophagus was in the right place and it didn't affect the placing of the band. It took me about a month to recover and I wasn't allowed to do any exercise for another month in case I ripped the stitches placed in my diaphragm. I am now recovered and feel the best I've done in years.

    February 2007 bandsters!

mls and ccs are exactly the same thing. Here is the UK we tend to say mls and in the US they're usually called ccs.

Here is the proof:

http://mathforum.org/library/drmath/view/58468.html
  9. When you're not taking in enough calories to maintain your current weight your body tries to conserves energy anyway it can. That can mean feeling cold and tired. The way to get round it is to do some cardiovascular exercise which will boost your metabolism and get your body going again. I've been having the same problem for the past couple of weeks so I think it is a common thing.

    February 2007 bandsters!

I have had two fills and now have 5 ml in a 8ml band. I have lost 29lbs but seem to lose it in fits and starts but generally averaging out at 2lbs a week. I haven't started exercising yet but I'm sure that will help.

    UK Local Lap-Band Support

Saggij, No problem, as Sara said maybe we can meet up with you another time! My weight has been all over the place. Despite sticking to 1000 calories I went up 4.5lbs last week. It was just Fluid retention as it disappeared in days. I've now lost 29lbs and have started losing again.

    February 2007 bandsters!

I'm with you on the slow weight loss front. I haven't lost anything for nearly 2 weeks. I'm sure it's my body getting used to the change but it's frustrating all the same.

What size do you want to be?

Pre op I was a UK 28 (US 24). I am currently a UK 24 (US 20) and I hope to get back to UK 12/14 (US 8/10). Clothes sizes vary from shop to shop in the UK. Before my weight gain I could wear a size 12 in TopShop but require a 14 from M&S.

    When stuff gets "stuck"

I've had 3 things get stuck for 3 different reasons: 1. Cold sausage -because I didn't chew it enough. PBed about 10 minutes later. 2. Crusty white bread -I shouldn't have even attempted to eat it. PBed about 10 minutes later. 3. Antidepressant medication -I didn't break it up enough. I didn't PB but felt very sick for about 8 hours and couldn't eat a thing. In short we're all different and you just have to learn what works and doesn't work for you!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

I'm not an April bandster but I went through something similar a few weeks after being banded in February. Every so often I'd bend over or twist and get this intense pain, almost like a ripping sensation where my port was. If it helps at all it did settle down and my port is still well and truly stitched in place. I'm sure everything is fine. If you're really worried call your surgeon!

    February 2007 bandsters!

I have now dropped 3.5lbs of the 4.5lbs that I appeared to gain this week. It was obviously fluid retention so hopefully the rest will disappear just as quickly. I'm planning to start swimming in earnest this week so that can only help!

WHat is a PB?? I need to know please...

PBing can also make you feeling a bit sore afterwards as I have found out! I've only PBed twice since being banded and it is not very pleasant!!lol!!
  18. I just tried to edit a thread and the edit box came up with every character interspersed with a smilie . I tried to correct my typo but on saving it nearly the whole post disappeared. Is this a known glitch?

    When do you feel full?

I usually get a feeling of pressure in my throat; sometimes it can even be painful. I rarely get any sensation from my pouch. I also sometimes sense that the next mouthful won't go down if you know what I mean. It's just a case of learning to listen to the signals your body is giving you.

    Editing of thread error!

    I'm glad it wasn't just me being a numpty!!lol!!

    February 2007 bandsters!

I'm feeling fed up as I'm up 4.5lbs this week despite sticking to 1000 calories all week. I know it's fluid but it's really frustrating.

    Lapband survey

First question: Since your surgery, what have you discovered about your relationship with food? I realise that my relationship with food prior to my surgery was purely emotional. I used it as a way of making myself feel better about anything. Now I use food purely to feed my body. It isn't such a big deal any more. Second question: Did you experience any complications with your procedure, during or after? If so, briefly explain. In order to place the band correctly I had to have a hiatus hernia repaired. This meant that my recovery time was a month instead of a few days. Third question: What are your feelings towards morbidly obese people now, and if you could sit down and talk with them, what one thing would you share with them? I feel desperately sorry for morbidly obese people and regularly tell complete strangers about how the surgery has changed my life. Louise R.

    Really pee-ed off!

Ok that was weird. I just tried to edit this post and ended up deleting it all!!

Anyway to recap despite sticking religiously to 900-1100 calories a day my weight is up 4.5lbs and I can work out why! I know it's fluid retention but can't find the cause. It's driving me crazy as I'm working so hard at eating healthily. I know it not muscle weight as I'm not allowed to exercise heavily yet. I just feel like throwing a full blown tantrum with screaming, yelling and stamping of the feet !

    Spam Threads

Would it be possible to add the verification of a valid email address to the registration process on LBT; like an activation step? As the spam thread posters are banned after a single post surely they'd run out valid email addresses? I know someone can have multiple hotmail addresses but they are a pain to set up so I'm sure this would have an impact on the number of spam threads. Just a thought!
