  1. Since my revision surgery in may, i have had zero motivation to work out. I try my best to eat good, but it seems like every weekend its someones birthday or some event that i have to attend, and eating out is difficult for me. I choose bad things like spinach and artichoke dip over a salad because i know it goes down easier. I also havea hard time not drinking while eating! I need to find motivation somehow.. i paid too much money to have this surgery and for it not to work for me is just a shame. So if anyone has any tips for motivation or anything please let me know :)

    Thanks!!

  2. Not to freak you out, but when I lost restriction suddenly, and could eat whatever I wanted the bands latch had come undone from "scar tissue". I had to have revision surgery which was done just last week and now im back to liquids for a while. i hope that its just a phaze of tight and loose for you! good luck!

Hi to all I was banded Dec 13th 2010 and have done rather well i think.....I as of last night feel like my restriction is gone.....i for the first time can eat a little more an I feel no restriction like previously.....is it possible my band moved or something....do u think its possible something happened??? could it have broke??? or leaked out.....what should i do.....thanks

  3. So I had my surgery November 10th, 2010. From day one after the surgery I was able to eat chicken salad and smushy things with no problems, i went right past the liquid stage because apparently they said eat what you can tolerate. So its been 6 months, i was able to eat anything i wanted in pretty decent amounts and never had anything stuck or anything like that. I was almost at full capacity. 13.5 cc in a 14 cc band, and only at a 20lb loss. i knew something wasnt right. I had an x-ray and apparently the band became "un-latched". the part that held it together was not in place and had to be fixed. They immediately set me up for revision surgery .I had the surgery yesterday and boy what a difference! i get full after a popsicle, or 2 bites of applesauce and i only have 4 cc's in there. Im so happy that i can finally be on my way to getting healthy and losing weight! :D

  4. Breakfast:

I had 2 eggs sunny side up, with 1 light english muffin

    Lunch:

Should be the left over chicken salad in my fridge with 2 flat bread crackers

    dinner

Either a lean cuisine pizza (omg these are good I'm obsessed with them), or 4 turkey meatballs with mozzarella cheese and marinara

and knowing me, probably a stop for some Pinkberry somewhere in there :D

Do you eat the entire lean cuisine pizza? those are my favorite!!

  5. Its interesting to see that most of you cant tolerate bread or pasta! I do eat subwa,y not very often ,but i can finish most of a 6 inch veggie! i think the surgeons used to big of a band on me cause i have never had anything stuck or had any pain when swallowing and im about at max capacity. I sort of wish i couldnt eat bread or crackers cause then maybe id see the scale move. i am a carboholic!

  6. So I got my 5th fill this morning.. my doc says 5 lbs in one month is not very good and that at 10cc's in a 14cc band, I should not be able to eat an entire lean cuisine/frozen dinner type thing. I dont have an answer for him! Ive never had a stuck episode and yet i do feel some retriction, i am only satisfied for 2 hours or so. I get my Protein in and all that fun stuff but i just dont get it. He added two more cc's and wants me to have a video swallow on friday because he thinks my band may have slipped up. Wouldnt I have pain or some indicator that the band was out of place?

    Advice please! :)

  8. in weight watchers its 3 points for 4 melba toasts and a wedge of laughing cow.. sooo good for that afternoon crunchy salty snack! and skinny cow ice cream sandwiches are amazing too!

The growling stomach part is exactly what I am experiencing, and what moves me to eat. I'm pretty good at not eating "just because" -- the times when I find it hardest are late afternoon -- which is also when I get the growling tummy stuff...and late evening, when I see my husband going for the dessert and dammit, I want something. I'm not big on sweets, generally, but a little cheese with a few crackers is pretty appealing. I think I'm going to try having a Laughing Cow lite cheese and apple or pear ready and see how that does...other suggestions welcome!

  9. I also have about 10.2cc in a 13cc band. I feel like that should make me not hungry at all! and i still can eat everything, only thing that seems to get stuck is celery.

I have a 14cc band and i currently have 10.5 cc in it. sometimes I feel good restriction and sometimes I don't. I'm not sure why. for me personally 7.2 cc was like I didnt have a band. I could eat as much and as fast as I wanted. now I have to eat slow and much much smaller portions. I'd say you need a fill.

  10. I would not be a happy camper with no carbs!! I am doing weight watchers and its helping tremendously. i was stalled at a 10lbs loss for 2 months after surgery and this ww diet jump started it back up again. I can still eat a pretty decent amount, but just recently i started eating only when my stomach growled. In my prebanded days i would eat breakfast right when i woke up whether my stomach was growling or not. Head hunger is my biggest battle. Its confusing to me how some people only needs a few cc's and they are at there "sweet spot", and im almost to my fill max and not satisfied.

I have some restriction, but i wish i had the no hunger part! Its great to see what some of your surgeons tell everyone. I didnt realize that average amount of people lose under 50 lbs the first year. Good luck to everyone and keep up the excellent work! :D

  11. I am having some difficulty in my journey and thought I would turn to all of the pros for advice. I got my band nov 15 2011 and have lost about 25 total. I am glad I lot that but feel that it should be a lot more. I have had three fills and I am now up to 6.5 in a 10 band. I am finding now that it is difficult to eat many things and that they even hurt a little going down, especially in the morning. I also find that when i eat I get a pain in my right shoulder even with the first few bites. Another thing I have found out is that jink food goes down all too easily when the healthy food like carrots goes down painfully. I dont want to give up on my band but I am starting to get frustated and wished i just did this the old fashioned healthy way. Please help!!!

I had my surgery around the same time as you did, and havent lost much either. I recently joined weight watchers since the band has helped with Portion Control, now i need to follow a diet. I dont have difficulty eating anything which kinda sucks, i almost wish i had a stuck feeling so i wouldnt be tempted to eat certain things! My band is always tighter in the morning so i think thats a normal thing ive seen alot on here. I think even if I did this the old fashioned healthy way i wouldnt have lost as much as i have in this time frame. i think it averages to a pound a week which is good, and the slower you lose the less saggy skin problems! so dont be frustrated, keep your chin up and 25lbs is awesome!! maybe if you try your liquid diet for a couple days or get a slight unfill so your not in pain when eating veggies. good luck!

  12. you were banded in may and have already lost over 100lbs??

im only 6 months behind you and have barely made a dent!

    \

Oh. And you were banded this year? I thought they stopped using 4cc bands?

Either way maybe you've just irritated your stomach. Try hot liquids for a few days. Also keep in mind even the littlest things can change your level of restriction. Stress, hormones, the weather, TOM, etc.

    Hope you find restriction soon!

  13. I don't eat 3 bites of food. That's crazy.. 1 cup to 1 cup and a half of food, you should be full. If you aren't satisfied, then you aren't... but you gotta train yourself to stop eating. If you aren't super restricted, you just have to watch what goes in. I can eat anything I want (steak, cupcakes, bread, Pasta...whatever), and I can eat fairly big portions. So I have to watch what I eat and how much. I don't think even if I got more in my band I would be restricted. But I'm NEVER hungry. So the band is working.

What is your calorie intake? If you are 900-1200 a day no reason you shouldn't be losing, exercise or not... be honest with yourself!! know I try to rationalize things, and put blame on something other than myself, but at the end of the day, if I eat bad it's my fault.

If you can go 4 hours without eating you are filled enough. Make sure the mental hunger isn't getting in the way, train your brain.

I dont have problems with any type of meat or bread like you, and i almost wish i did, because those are what get me in trouble! so i have found other ways thru weight watchers with the 100 calorie mini cupcakes and i am satisfied. i usually try and wait until my stomach is growling to eat, even if my head is telling me different. Since i am on weight watchers the new program is carb based, so im really not sure the calorie amount i am getting since its the point system. i just wish it would come off a little faster so i can see results and get motivated, thats all. and working full time and school full time and being a single mom is exhausting!! it leaves little time for exercise

  14. I have a friend who had lost atleast 50lbs by the time 4 months rolled around. I am still stuck at an 18lb loss in 4 months. I walk or jog when i can, not on a schedule or anything, and i do weight watchers. I am restricted somewhat but my friend says i shouldnt be able to finish a lean cuisine or 6oz of grilled chicken and a cup of broccoli, that i should have 3 bites and be satisfied. Im wondering if i need another fill, which would bring me close to maxing out. any advice would be helpful :)

  15. I was banded 11/10/10, and just got another fill yesterday which brings me to 10.2cc in a 13cc band, and am just now starting to get restriction. Everyone is different and I honestly think they used to big of a band on me in the first place. If i would have had a Lap Band small i think i would have had more success.

But oh well! Good luck to you and hopefully they can figure out what is going on :)

I was banded on 11/11/10 during the surgery 4 1/2 cc were placed in the band, I have had 2 fills since and at this time the band has 13 1/2 ccs and no restriction at all. During the 2nd fill the doctor was performing the Water method to get the band as close to good as he could and he stated that when he added an extra cc it was too much, so he withdrew the 1cc back out, in my thoughts I wonder how he could have had a total of 14 1/2 ccs to withdraw 1 cc out. I eat just as I did before the band and have not had any food getting stuck, vomiting, or nausea. I feel like something is not right, after reading all the stories and post, how could I have a full band after 2 post op fills and not feel anything different?

I would be so grateful for any suggestions, words of wisdom or thoughts you might have to offer. Thank you all so much.

  16. I have a 12cc band and im at 9cc's as well. I have never had a sliming incident or vomiting or anything and i can eat whatever i want. I just started weight watchers a week ago in hopes that it will move the weight loss process along since i havent lost nearly as much as other people around my surgery date have.. its a little discouraging, i know its a tool and not magic but i expected a little more out of it. i am going for my next fill next week which will probably bring me to 10ccs. good luck and hopefully the next fill does the trick!

I am just wondering if there are any other women out there who have their bands this full?

I actually STILL do not have enough restriction and will be getting another fill on the 24th.

My band holds 12cc's and with my next fill I'll be at 10cc's, and I don't expect that to even be enough. My portions have gotten smaller but not significantly.

Is there any other FEMALE banders who are this full or fuller?

Thank in advance for responding! :)

  17. I am definatley a slow loser. Even at 9 ccs i dont feel that much restriction, but i feel like 9cc's is a lot compared to all the other people on here. There is nothing that i can't eat, which is probably why i have only lost 12 lbs since November! I just joined weight watchers this week, so i am hoping that this will help me get over my poor eating habits, and i can start to see the results that i want! It amazes me that other people with the same surgery date have lost 60-80lbs! its amazing and inspiring, and i hope that i dont become a failure with this too.

  18. I just got my third fill on tuesday morning. I have 9 ccs in a 12cc band. i feel like that is alot of cc's, and the dr said i should have been ok with 6-7 cc's. with 9cc i get full faster and definatly eat less but i dont have problems with soda or bread and i am hungry again 3 hours later. Does anyone else have 9 or more cc's in their band and have this problem?

  19. I was banded Nov 10th 2010. Had 2 fills since then and i still have little restriction. I do get full faster but am hungry again 2 hours later. Ive never had a PB or slimed or anything like that, there is no food that i have trouble eating. Now i wasnt expecting this to be a miracle, i knew i had to still diet and exercise but that has always been hard for me to do which is why i chose to get the lap band as a last resort.. so basically i want to know if anyone else has not lost any weight this far out from surgery.. ive only lost a total of 10lbs from my preop diet and thats about it!
