  5. Today was the day!!!! When I stepped on the scale this morning, for my "Weekly Wednesday Weigh-in" I had finally reached my first goal!!! I OFFICIALLY WEIGH LESS THAN MY DRIVER’S LICENSE SAYS I DO!!! Can’t really believe that I lied by about 40lbs, but it doesn’t matter anymore because now it is wrong in the other direction. I was pretty confident that I was going to meet my goal of 250, but much to my surprise – I murdered it!!! My official weight this morning was 246.6 that means that I am down 43.4lbs since my surgery on January 12th (just 10 weeks ago). I am elated! On a side note last Friday was the day that I really noticed that my boobs had shrunk. It was just like junior high all over again . . . I woke up one morning and they were there . . . then I went to sleep 16 years later and they were gone again. I am not unhappy about this – they were definitely well above average, I just hope that when this is all said and done I am left with something. Well, I am having a great day today!!!! I wish you all the same! Jessi

    Finally broke my stall!!

Yea Genepha!!!! I remember my how horrible it felt when I was trapped in my 3 week long stall, I thought "jeez not even surgery can me". However, I remember even more clearly when the stall finally broke and I was back on the downward slope, what a relief!!! Congratulations on your loss, best wishes for continued success
  7. So sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems. I find that if I don’t actually sit down and have a formal meal time, then I am likely to eat a lot more!!! Just the other day I wasn’t unable to take a lunch break at work, so I ate at my desk taking a bite here or a bite there whenever I had a moment to pick up my sandwich. I continued to eat my meal for over an hour, and when I finally had a moment to stop and think I realized that I had eaten an entire 6" sub and a small bag of baked chips - this is nearly twice as much as I would normally eat!!!! I was so upset - I talked to a nurse at my doctor’s office today and she assured me that everything was fine. She said that when you take so long to eat, your stomach has time to process part of the food before you are finished, so there is more room for additional food. She advised me that no meal should take longer than 15 - 20 min to eat. I'm not sure how long you were on the phone or how long it took you to eat those tacos; but if your work is anything like mine that call may have been pretty lengthy, and that may be the explanation for why you were able to eat so much. Also, I should point out that that evening for supper and every meal since I have eaten a regular amount and felt just as satisfied as I did before I tried to O.D. on Subway! I wish you all the best!!!!
  8. I took antibiotics and some other misc prescriptions for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I had my surgery with Dr. Watkins, and I beleive that this is a standard request that he makes.

    plication

I had my plication with Doctor Watkins. I couldn't have asked for a better experience!!! I know that a LOT of people have had great success with surgery in Mexico, but it was something that I was just never comfortable with. I think in the end that choosing a doctor is more of an emotional choice; either way you go you will be happy!

    Surgery scheduled for Feb. 7

You will do great! I had plication surgery on 01/12/11, and in my experience recovery was a breeze!!! I woke up after surgery and had a little discomfort, but went several hours without even taking any pain medicine. The next morning I felt pretty good, some minor cramps and soreness, but truly 50 times better than I expected. In fact I was discharged from the hospital at 9 o'clock that morning and immediately took the 12 hour car ride home; I will not lie and say that that was fun, but in that 12 hours I didn’t have to take anything for pain. Since I have been home I have only taken pain medicine a couple times, and it was really only to help me sleep through the uncomfortable gas pains that bothered me for the first week. Honestly, I am 20 days out today and I feel 100% - I haven't stepped on the scale for a week (tomorrow is my three week surg-iversary) but as of last Wednesday I have already lost 20 pounds I know that this momentum will slow but just thinking that I have lost that much weight in such a short amount of time fills me with such bliss that I cannot describe it!!!! Genepha - it is totally normal to be nervous, but if your experience is anything like mine you have NOTHING to worry about!!! Keep me posted on your progress, there aren't a lot of plication patients on here and I would love to know how you are doing! Best Wishes, Jessi
  12. It's official - My surgery date is January 12th!!!! I started my pre-op diet today :)

  13. Hey Y’all!!! Wow this is so great – I feel like I already know most of you, I have been loyally reading your posts for quite some time now. I am grateful to each and every one of you for making my decision so much easier, and easing my mind on countless occasions. I have taken the first big step in this process and thought it only fair to introduce myself to y’all and hopefully my experience will be a chance for me to “pay it forward” to some of the other newcomers that are confused. Well let’s see where do I begin . . . My name is Jessi, I am a 27 years old, and I live in SE Georgia. I started battling my weight in junior high; apparently I am not much of a fighter because it has steadily gotten more and more out of control over the last 15 years. I started seriously considering WLS shortly after I lost my mother five years ago. She was only 52 years old, and she sill had so many things that she wanted to do with her life. It really got me thinking about how I needed to make the most of this sort time that I have been given here on earth. It seems that so many of the things that I want to change are connected in some way to my weight (health, energy, confidence, self worth). I have recently started to become more introverted and I find that I am becoming a hermit because I am scared that my weight will get in the way (Will I be able to fit in to booth that the restaurant? If I fly will the seatbelt reach around me? If I go out with my girlfriends will I be stuck sitting there alone when they are dancing with guys who aren’t interested in me? Will I run into that horrible little boy who has no problem loudly pointing out in public that I am fat?) sometimes it just seems easier to stay in, and I am finished feeling like that!!!! Yesterday I took the first step towards the new me – I had my consultation with Dr. Watkins and his staff. Their caring nature put my mind at ease, and confirmed my feeling that this is the right thing for me to do. I will talk to them again on Monday and schedule my surgery date. It feels good to know that I am finally on the correct path. Thanks again to all of you that have been so helpful to me!!!

    January 2011 Sleevers

Hey Y’all! My name is Jessi - and I am excited to say that I am a January sleever as well. Actually I am going to be having the sleeve placation procedure. I am so excited, I can’t wait to start this journey, and to finally start the life that I know I was meant to have. I don’t have an official date yet - still working out some of the scheduling logistics at work, but I feel quite confident that it will be on the 12th!!! Congratulations to all of you, I know that you all must be just as eager as I am!!!
