I found out I was approved on last Thursday. It only took 2 days to get the approval....being banded on 12/9!!

I have been through all the pre-op steps and insurance approval and have a surgery date of 12/9. My problem is I quit smoking on 10/19 and I have gained 7-8lbs from that. I didnt even realize that I was overeating. Now of course I'm worried that I may run into problems with surgery. My surgeon's office made it clear that weight gain before surgery is not acceptable. Any one else have this problem? Starting today I'm going to the gym and watch what I eat....

Thanks ladies!! I was approved yesterday. I found out when I called BCBS, I still havent heard anything from the doctor's office. I'm assuming they are still planning on the 12/9 date. That will be fine with me since I need to lose some weight pre op anyway.

I have BCBSNC also! Mine was submitted yesterday, so I'm hoping i will hear something very soon. Let me know when you hear something and I will let you know about mine. When was your submitted?

If so...how long did it take to get approval? I'm currently waiting on their decision. I'm getting nervous. I dont want to come this far to be denied!

oxy...not really much more to tell. My story is very similar to yours. Back and forth with my weight until it gets to a point that I HAVE to do something. I was put on BP meds last year and after my physical in August, my doc said I needed to go on cholesterol meds. I think that was my breaking point. I'm 38 years old, and having to take meds for obesity related issues. I want to be around for my kids and increase my quality of life. I was a smoker for years...and I have been smoke free since 10/19. I'm serious about becoming healthier!!! Good luck on your surgery 11/15!! Nervous? What state are you in?

Hello, I have been lurking here for a few months now and decided to post something. Something about me....I have been overweight all my life and have decided to have the lapband surgery. I have completed all my pre op testing and my paper work is being submitted to the ins company as we speak. I have BCBS PPO State Employees, my dr office assures me that this process wont take too long....I hope now! Wish me luck!!

Hopefully they will approve it!! They have already give me a tentative surgery date of 12/9/2010...Keep your fingers crossed for me!
