  1. yep it does -- I just got a tummy tuck and breast lift/augmentation -- down here in Paraguay they don't do the lower body lift -- just the tt and breast stuff -- thighs and butt are separate -- I think I'll be doing that in about 6 months.

    I am pregnant!!!!

So so sorry for your loss -- big hugs
  3. As I said on FB, yep, yep yep! I've been there for about a month -- not wanting to do the "diet" thang. It doesn't mean that I won't eat well or exercise (when I get permission from the dr.) -- but I am not going to stress over the last 4 to 6 pounds that I have till I reach goal. I mean, seriously, I weighed 304 pounds -- 4 pounds a year ago would have been like swatting a fly! So, I'm taking it as it comes now. And I'm sooooo much happier for it. I think I will also lose more than my goal, and that's ok. But there is no stress that I need to lose it NOW. So hooray for you!!

4th of July - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???

Ok, I'm still 6 pounds away -- sigh. And then I had plastics which made me swell and gain - double sigh. But that's ok -- it's still a journey. SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal Juliarh............187................171.4..............165..........6.4
  5. Coops, you look absolutely fantastic!!! Truthfully, I would not have recognized the "old" Coops if you had walked past me on the street -- I cannot believe the difference!! Incredible! Biggggg hugs
  6. Congratulations!! You look gorgeous and amazing! Doesn't a size 8 just blow your mind!!??! So happy for you

What does "full" feel like now?

I have 2 full signals -- first one is nausea -- I learned that FAST within the first month post op -- 2 one is a hiccup. I really don't have a full feeling other than the nausea -- and the nausea comes on pretty quickly. I learned pretty fast after my surgery that if I didn't listen, I was going to vomit. So, I tend to undereat so I don't get that nausea or vomit feeling. But it's all good -- I've gotten very good and determining how much I can eat at one time.
  8. You look absolutely amazing -- your face is radiating happiness! I think 130 pounds lost in 9 months is absolutely fantastic! Don't beat yourself up for not being super strict -- I don't know if that would have necessarily helped -- but you look really great -- keep up the good work!!
  9. Patti, that is so AWESOME!! so happy for you Since it's winter here, I haven't had the chance to do any kind of bathing suit, but I will come September!! So excited!! and you've given me hope that I can look normal in a suit too! Doing the happy dance with you!
  10. Hi I'm 10 months out -- the first 6 weeks were hell for me. I don't know that I regretted it, but I definitely was not recovering as fast as others. I think I went into detail about it sometime afterwards in a post if you want to search my user name. But I do not regret it at all -- I've lost nearly 135 pounds and am active and healthier than I have been in decades. Nope, I can't eat what I used to eat, but that's what I signed up for. I don't regret not being able to eat the same amounts, but right now, 10 months out, I can eat pretty much anything, but just not quantities. Now, I choose not to eat certain foods, but that's okay too. I wouldn't change this for the world and just wish I had done it sooner.

Oh, so THAT's what dumping feels like

When I went to Buenos Aires on my "eat what I want to eat" vacation, I too had dumping -- was not pleasant and I found that I just couldn't eat whatever I wanted to . . . it was easier eating the new normal. High fat and sugar seem to be the culprit, so I stay away now -- now that's not to say that I don't have a bite of something sugary here and there, but I just can't have and entire piece of something if I wanted it. But I'm ok with that -- keeps me from bingeing on those things that I used to binge on
  12. Hey Pamela -- I'm eating what I ate from the beginning -- between 800 - 1000 calories, under 40 carbs a day, 60 - 80 grams of Protein, at least 96 oz. of Water. I've been losing fairly well lately, some days I definitely struggle to see any movement, but then once in a while I'll lose big. I plan on doing this until I get to goal weight and then slowly increase the carbs and calories until I stop. Hope that helps!

4th of July - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???

SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal Juliarh............187................174..............165...........9 It's interesting to see how far I've come -- I don't feel like I've been in the 180s for a while, but yet, I started out the challenge there -- so that's pretty good! Hopefully, I'll reach my goal, but if not, that's ok, because it's not a race, it's a journey!

    the dreaded stall

Hey everyone -- take it from someone who is almost 9 months post-op. You will stall. Trust me. At least once, probably more. I've done it 3 or 4 times now. A stall is defined as not losing weight for at least 2 or 3 weeks. If you didn't lose for one week, sorry to say this, but that's not such a big deal. You WILL lose weight (if you follow the rules, of course). If you are in your first month, your body is still recovering. Give it time. No, you will not lose a pound a day for 3 months. That's crazy. That's 90 lbs in 3 months. Nope, no way, UNLESS you have A LOT to lose. I have currently lost 130 lbs. I did NOT lose 90 lbs in 3 months. I did lose 100 in just under 6 months. Remember, this is a surgery -- you have to recover from it first, and then follow the rules so that you can lose at a steady pace. DON'T WORRY, YOU WILL LOSE!

    9 months AND....

Congratulations!! 100 pounds (better yet 101!) is a huge accomplishment! Doing the happy dance with you!

    2 days post op

Everyone is right -- make sure you're getting in your fluids now -- that's most important. I was the same as you -- I was miserable after surgery (some people fly right through, but not me) -- it took me a good 3 weeks to feel almost human. I had horrible gas pains, bad dreams, I could hardly drink . . . I was miserable. But all of that is mostly from your stomach being swelled. When the swelling decreases, you'll start to feel better. For now, just sip, sip, sip.
  18. I loved food too. It was my best friend and my worst friend at the same time. I could eat anything and everything and in mass quantities. Do I miss it? Hell no. It's there for one reason only now -- to live. I don't obsess about it, I don't care about it. Yes, I enjoy a good meal when I have it. But that's it. IT'S BEING NORMAL. And frankly, it's wonderful. I get to enjoy the food that I eat, but after I'm done, I'm truly done -- mentally and physically. So, you will still get to enjoy food (maybe not right away, but when you're down the road a bit) but just not in the mass quantities or the number of times you currently eat. I can eat anything now (I'm almost 9 mos. post op) -- there are somethings that I don't eat because I'm reluctant to try them (alcohol being one), but I'm sure I'll get over that hurdle someday too. But really, I can eat ANYTHING. The thing is, is that I really don't WANT to eat everything like I used to. For instance, yesterday, we went to a BBQ -- I ate steak and salad. I was happy. I didn't really have room or the desire for dessert, so I had coffee. I was happy. For dinner we went out, and I had steak again (it was a steak day) -- I was really really happy. I came home and made us all a low carb dessert with Jello pudding and real whipped cream -- it was great, but I couldn't finish it all. So I didn't feel deprived, I ate what I wanted and then stopped when I was full. And that's what will happen to you too. Hope that helps!

    I am hungry..should I eat?

You know what? The few times that I am hungry and I've tried everything as you seem to have tried, I do have the high Protein, low carb snack like Meggie suggested. Two oz. of mozzarella cheese is a great snack (and it really fills you up) -- I eat that A LOT! And there are not many calories in low fat mozzarella cheese, but it's great in protein If you've drunk all your Water, eaten all your protein for the day, tried an antacid, then I think you should go ahead and eat because, frankly, 80 or so calories is not going to be the end of you (really) and this is the time to really listen to your body. And it seems like you went the extra mile to make sure it wasn't head hunger. I think if you deprive yourself, you're more likely to get back into bad habits . . . Just my 2 cents.
  20. I remember even though the food smelled great, when I finally was able to eat something, it made me so nauseated, I couldn't bear the smell of food -- even to this day if I get full, the smell of food makes me leave the table because I no longer want it or can stand to be around it. So as Meggie says, wait for the ghrelin to leave your system -- you really won't want to eat much afterwards
  21. Well, you know what I caught myself saying to myself JUST YESTERDAY?? "Well, if you weren't so fat . . . " And then I stopped and said, wait a minute, I'm not fat anymore, and it's not my fault, and . . . . it was really eye-opening. When I get stressed, I tend to turn on myself and then because I turn on myself, I usually ate. Now that I can't eat, that awful voice is louder and I have to slap it down Maybe one day it will go away completely . . . .

    Not hungry, still naucious

Purdy -- Everyone is really right when they say that the more important thing right now is just to get in your fluids. If your doctor says it's ok, you might even try some broth with Protein powder mixed in -- but really just drink your Water. Your tummy has to heal and it will take some time. I don't think I felt like I could eat anything until I was about 3 or 4 weeks out -- because I really couldn't stomach anything -- so take it sloooowly. You've just had major surgery and it will take some time. Keep us posted on how you're doing -- Take care!
