It took me awhile from when I began(my seminar was in Aug) but,,,my dr wanted me to have tests done before he sent in "his" approval. He wanted to check my heart out and that took 2 weeks to do. I'm thankful it went well after that! I will be at hospital tomorrow at 6:30am!!

I quit the diet coke and all sodas. I have gotten used to crystal light and I think it feels better without the bubbles! I hope I don't have any different sense of taste but looks like it is common. I enjoyed reading this post and hope we can learn more from each other!! I come from a coffee family! Once my brother said...as long as there's coffee in the pot I'm drinking coffee!! I do switch to tea some days and enjoy the green tea. I wonder if how and what we taste is affected by what we eat? I mean if we have cut down on carbs will that change our sense of taste? or could it? It's like we can start all over and try things we didn't think we would like before! lol I'll be looking for Dave's wisdom after tomorrow.....surgery day for me!! take care!

Did anyone wish they thought of bringing anything after they got to hospital? Something you wish you had after the surgery? I'm preparing what I will be bringing on Tuesday when I go.

I guess that might be one more thing that changes with everyone or that we need to do without! In past years I hven't used a straw that much ......except in milkshakes. That was a treat since I don't drink em like I used to! Maybe one a year now! But I had increased ice cream cones........Some of the ice cream flavors were irresistable! Sparkplug...do you now eat as usual or in small meals through the day? You look like you have worked well with the band.

Hi Ashley! Welcome to our group! I am Linda and will be banded this Tuesday. I am trying not to be too nervous for the waiting....I used to grab the sweets at this point!! I'm going to try to stay busy tomorrow to help the wait. Can't wait to share my experience and hear from others of their's. Good luck to you!

That's great.....How do we know if we need a fill? How is it determined...by dr? I will be banded Tuesday and am gathering all the info I can!

Thanks star, and thanks everyone for all the help. I think I will take enough for one night just in case. Maybe at the pre-op on Monday they will give me a better idea of my stay. I've got my pantry ready for a start anyway! Now the days need to go by quicker! lol

Hi! I hopefully will join you this Tuesday when I get banded! I have been enduring the wait before I got my date and now can't wait for the days to go by! I had to stop and remember tomorrow is only Sunday lol. I am 54 and 5'9' and have been on my low carb diet for just more than 3 wks. I wanted to be ready! Everyone is saying why don't I be on the diet since I've lost 25 lbs on it......because I want to eat fruit and bread again! .....at least there was sf jello at my brothers today that I had for dessert! Had to put that pecan pie out of mind.:nono: I too worry about everything working correctly after surgery. I work in a day program for learning disabled individuals so it depends on who I have that day if I'm very active or not. But, I have the week off and can take more if necessary. The staff works very well with each other there. I have been grateful to hear about your experiences. That helps alot. Yes, we can help each other get thru this. :party:

Hey, looking good! I can see why you're so excited even after the surgery. I hope I am like that too. So many people are so excited to have the surgery and then don't keep that feeling after. I think we start thinking about food in a different way while we are on the pre diet....We then find new energy and do the things we like to do instead of eating or planning our next meal, like you said you did with a new hobby. Congrats on reversing the diabetes!! I hope to do same for high blood pressure.

Wow, that's great! Good for you! I hope to be saying that in a year!!

The surgeons office called this afternoon and I go to pre op on Monday and be at the hospital at 6:30am Tuesday for the surgery. I think I'm still numb from hearing! Like they said on the phone...I got lucky!

We can all get on after our surgery to compare notes and help each other! See ya then! Merry Christmas!

Hi Everyone! I will be banded in 5 days! I have been on the 2 week diet we have for 3 weeks. Started early so I would be ready if they called. I have lost 21 lbs! I'm getting used to not having the carbs, some days I think "wow, it's been a while since I've eaten but I dont really feel it!" I'm trying to make sure I get what I need when I come home. And getting started on packing a bag to bring with me. I can't wait to feel better when i'm exercising! And go for longer walks........my dog will like that! But, I know I will like looking for "nice" clothes that don't hang on me!

You recognized that you slipped and that's half the battle. Move on and continue your journey...why did they tell you not to use a straw??

I just found out that my surgery will be on the 28th! It's a good idea to get together.....helps with answers and emotional support. I wonder if the weekend will seem long....I was on the 2 wk diet here for 3 weeks just in case I got a call ! lol It surprised me that I don't miss carbs like I thought I might.

Having the band is going to let you have more fun......instead of focusing on food you can focus on the fun!

I got a call today that I am approved to go! That felt good! Now I wait for the surgeon's office to call and we set up a date! Hopefully the middle of next week I'll know(and everyone else) lol. I'm beginning to want the surgery even more so I can eat some of the foods I've been missing....I started diet 2 1/2 weeks ago. I'm ready when they are! Today at work an employee came in with 2 big plates of cookies!! Oh, they looked good! I gave them to our individuals and focused on something else. I'm motivated now to do some cleaning and get ready....

Ok, I just got done making a batch of cookies for christmas. I realized how much sugar you can eat just by baking the cookies! Everytime you drop batter on pans it gets on your fingers and .....lick ....it gone! I didn't let that happen this time. I was washing my hands alot! I'm sticking with the 2 wk diet and it's great to lose pounds but hard unless you see an end to it somewhere! Frosting next!! lol:o
