  1. I saw my dr once a month after surgery and for 22 months during my losing stage. Having him out of state would have been very inconvenient for the monthly appointments depending on how far you would have to travel. I was self pay since my insurance didn't cover the procedure or aftercare but my appoints cost $25 without and $50 with a fill. He has gone up to $50/$100 now... But $180 is outrageous in my opinion.

  2. I am only eating 600 because I feel so full afterwards. I'm going to read my information book tonight and see us it tells me in there what they suggest. But my doctor told me on Tuesday on my post op call that my meals should fit into one cup...

My dr gave me the same advice about the one cup rule but he also said I should have no less than 1000 calories...so I would check with yours just to be sure. You will lose eventually on 600 but that's really starving yourself....

  3. That is very low... Does that include the food?

Is that what your dr suggests? In time you will lose but right now at 600 ... it's storing everything you are eating and holding on to every calorie.

I am asking because its common once you get off liquid to gain a little because your body is finally getting fed and it's storing all the food. But to only eat 600 calories... Seems low. I would ask the dr how many you should be taking in.

  4. I could care less what they call it. Reconstructive, Plastic, cosmetic, elective... I was against it from the start. Every other time I lost weight it wasn't an issue.,.., of course every other time I didn't lose 224 lbs!!!

Fast forward to the end of my losing journey and see how i changed my mind...check out my Tummy Tuck pics and you will understand why I did it and paid hard earned cash for it. Was it vain... Maybe. Am I embarrassed about it...absolutely not. Would I love to do my thighs and arms....yes. Will I... I don't think so because I am not at the point of hating it.... I don't love it but I can live with it...unlike my tummy and tubular flaps I used to call breasts. Having the procedures I did really made me feel like I finally had the body I worked so hard to get.

  5. We just cancelled our premium stations because the cost didn't justify the entertainment... And saving $50 bucks a month makes more sense. and we still have a bizillion other selections to chose from.

  6. The dr might know better because I cannot think or any correlation between eating and your port. The port is just a vehicle to transfer saline to the band and isn't located near or on your band..... I would ask at your next appointment or call the office if you are concerned

    Best wishes

  7. I personally feel that any designer plan which costs money isn't any better than basic nutritional info I can get on line . Also I tracked my calories with my phone ap which made me realize the right and wrong foods to eat.... And since I am not a joiner of those sort of things it's not the best resource for me.

If you feel you need to have the structure then I would say to go for it but the Internet is a free bottomless pit of information about menu planning.... And the phone ap is also free ..

  8. Thanks all! This all helps because like I said I know activities come up in life where fast food or drinking is involved and all the advise helps. :)

Just because times come up doesn't mean you have to induldge. My losing stage was 22 months and I might have had 5 drinks during that time..not because ii wanted to but because I didn't NOT want to lose that day!!. Most often I drank Water with lots of lemon in a pretty glass. No one cared.

As far as fast food... Usually I would select a salad...maybe with grilled chicken on it or in times where the choices are limited like taco bell.... I would have a chicken burrito and eat the Insides with a fork. Way too many calories in the tortilla. As for burger places... Some now offer chicken without the breading so that's a good choice...or check out the kids meals and stay away from the bread.< /p>

Life doesn't stop because you are dieting.... There are always good choices to make.

  9. I love Reruns of Brady Bunch, Mary Tyler Moore and the Cosby Show. I wouldn't know one of the new shows if I fell over them...lol. Except Sister Wives which I am obsessed with... I have no idea why....

  10. Wow! You're doing great! I started at 263 and my scale told me this morning that I am now 239. I was waiting to see that 3!! Next goal is the 220's.

I just thought 20lbs would be obvious--- guess ill work for 50+.

I'm what you'd call "big boned" so my doctors goal for me is 145-165, my goal for myself is anything under 200!!!

    Thanks

I am 5'9" and was always told I was big boned.... Granted I am too tall to ever be petite but you may find like I did that my bones aren't as big as we once thought. LOL. However since I am in a size 6 now... Losing anymore then 5/10 more lbs wont look well on me I fear..

I took this journey 10 lbs at a time and one day I woke up and I was down 224 lbs...

    Best of luck to you!!

  11. I ate 1/4 c of startch at every meal during my losing stage so there was nothing to get down on myself about. That. Combiined with 3 oz of protien and 1/2 veggies was a satisfying meal for 22 months. And now maintaining I have the same basic portions which include a starch. It's a healthy balanced meal and nothing you should feel guilty about.

  12. In my case when You are 377 lbs 20 lbs lost is nothing noticeable .... When you are 155 lbs ...people will notice 5 lbs loss.. I think I lost 100 lbs before people really started noticing. Yet just recently someone who saw me last year in April when I was 205 saw me over the weekend and couldn't get over how small I had become since then. And that was only 58 lbs loss..... But the difference from a size 14 to a 6

  13. I don't see where anyone was rude but I am with other posters.... If you confess your sins on a public forum you'd better expect all sorts of responses.... This isn't church where they Tell you to confess and you will be absolved.

It could be very serious to the health of your band, not to mention your loss of motivation and not keeping on the straight an narrow worries us.
