Finally it is impossible to be able to take only one bite of anything without barfing to not to lose weight. I request a copy of the digital file of your 9-1-1 call, I request pictures.I request a scanned copy of letters the lawyers used to turn you down. Internal bleeding is a risk of any abdominal surgery, so please prove neglect by hospital (they did take you to ICU) and malpractice by the doctor. I do believe you will find Internal bleeding as one of the MANY risks involved in VSG you signed a consent for, oh and since you paid 350.00 for your records I also request a scanned copy of that document. Enough said. When and only when you can provide this I will be more than happy to say sorry.

    Eating Out - Embarrasing???

    I have never worried about what others think at a restaurant. I am 9 months post op and for the first time ever I pulled the " I had wls card" with the other night. We were at an all you could eat buffet of seafood and I could not see paying 39.99 when I would not go up more than once. I very quietly told the waitress I had wls and could not eat more that 3 to 4 ounces at a time and then asked for the children's price on the buffet and to my amazement she did not even blink or make a face, she said SURE you can! I then went on to grab just a little bit of everything I liked and enjoyed my whole one trip to the buffet. Crab legs! Well the whole point here is my husband is huge! and went up like 5 times for more. I am sure some folks wondered why I was sitting there not eating and getting more while he was gorging himself, but I did not even notice if anyone is looking,,, and why? BECAUSE I look GOOD now and I really don't care what others think about what I eat or don't eat or how I eat it,,, it all so worth it to be of "normal" weight today!

  7. Caffeine is a part of the Breakfast meal of many Americans. Many also take a Multivitamin supplement daily as a part of their morning routine. Not many people are aware that taking Vitamins at the same time as a cup of coffee or tea can interfere with the body’s absorption of many necessary nutrients. Calcium Caffeine causes calcium to be excreted in the urine and feces. For every 150 mg of caffeine ingested, about the amount in one cup of coffee, 5 mg of calcium is lost. This effect occurs even hours after the consumption of caffeine. One study of postmenopausal women found that those who consumed more than 300 mg of caffeine lost more bone in the spine than women who consumed less. Caffeine also inhibits the amount of calcium that is absorbed through the intestinal tract and depletes the amount retained by the bones. Studies have shown that women with high caffeine intake suffer more hip fractures than those who avoid caffeine or drink in moderation (1 to 2 cups per day). Vitamin D Caffeine inhibits Vitamin D receptors, which limit the amount that will be absorbed. Because vitamin D is important in the absorption and use of calcium in building bone, this could also decrease bone mineral density, resulting in an increased risk for osteoporosis. Iron Caffeine interferes with the body’s absorption of iron, which is necessary for red blood cell production. Drinking caffeine at the same time as an iron source can reduce absorption by up to 80%, according to the Nutrition Desk Reference. Any beverage containing caffeine should be separated from iron-containing foods or supplements by at least one hour. B Vitamins Caffeine has a mild diuretic effect, which increases urination. Water soluble vitamins, such as the B-vitamins, can be depleted as a result of the Fluid loss. In addition, it interferes with the metabolism of some B-vitamins, such as thiamine (vitamin B1). The one exception to this rule appears to be vitamin B12. Caffeine stimulates the production of stomach acid, which actually helps the body absorb B12. Other Vitamins and Minerals Caffeine may reduce the absorption of manganese, zinc and copper. It also increases the excretion of the minerals magnesium, potassium, sodium and phosphate. There is also evidence that caffeine interferes with the action of Vitamin A. Sources of Caffeine Coffee and tea are obvious sources of caffeine. Even decaffeinated versions contain a little residual caffeine. Other sources include soft drinks, chocolate, cocoa and some energy drinks. Some supplements and medications, such as those that promote wakefulness, along with pain relievers for headaches, contain caffeine anhydrous, which is the dried, powdery form of caffeine. Dietary supplements sometimes use a natural ingredient called guarana, which is another form of caffeine. A cup of coffee or green tea a day is not likely to have a negative effect on your overall health. However, in excess, caffeine can cause nutrient deficiencies that can affect both health and quality of life. As with most dietary factors, moderation and balance are key in optimal nutrition intake.   8. My US surgeon held up a pen,,, be it one of those printed with his offices name of it and said this will be the size of of your stomach. That, plus swelling after trauma to the body and stomach says a lot!

    FOR ME,,, this surgery was about changing former bad habits as well as eating less. Lets not pick each other apart, lets us best support one another to do what is right for each of is. Truth is you can cheat the sleeve by putting down high calorie, high carb, high fat food. Did any of go through this surgery to fail?????? The sleeve is not a miracle, it is a tool. We still have a life time of better food choices ahead of us. As my surgeon put it, sweets are slippery slope! I personally had my fist piece of ice cream b day cake in a over year, and well because I restricted myself the first 8 months it was not even appealing any more, Give me some fresh fruit and Greek Yogurt!

    Sorry, some days it is reflux, some days spasm. Like last night the hubby wanted Olive Garden. I chose all cream type sauces. However I do not deny the urge to go "empty" due stuff burning and spasm while I made all look normal to him.

    Tiff, I had spams since day one, kept me in hospital post op ean extra day. I take Nexium every day 9 months post yet. What are you referring to?
  13. I have heard of folks using ankle weights and sand bags in their privates( ie bra, underwear,ect) but how fast and how soon????? I was lucky, very lucky to not have to do a pre op. I just jumped through the testing hoops, which took 3 months alone! So push, push, push, push that insurance coordinator! I do not support fraud, but I support going around insurance to get healthy! How ironic!
