  1. Speak to the surgeon and find out what those charges are for. Maybe it's something you don't need and won't be required to pay. If it is required then find a new surgeon. Good luck! Hope everything goes well in your weight loss journey.
  2. I have been dealing with Dr. Mora since October 2010 and so far I have to say I love him and his staff! I am now 13 days post op and have no complaints.....other than I am starving and can't wait for my first fill lol. And Tara is wonderfull. So helpful and sweet! Great office!

  4. The first few days were the hardest for me. As time went on it got easier. Try not to cheat or you may not get to the point where it is easier. As time goes by and you don't fill you body with junk you will stop craving the junk....well at least that's what happened to me. I'm not saying you won't want it if you look at it or smell it, but you won't crave it. Be stong. I know it's hard, but it's worth it.
  5. That's right! You tell the fat who's the boss! LOL I'm not letting it boss me around anymore. I'm putting it in it's place right now, and that place is anywhere besides inside of me.
  6. Bring a tooth brush and tooth paste. Your mouth will be really dry after surgery and brushing your teeth will help get rid of the cotton mouth feeling. I felt like the mask they make you breathe through (oxygen? anastesia?) left a residue in my mouth and it was soo much better after brushing.
  7. My gas pain lasted about 3 days. When you're not up walking around you can move your arms around while sitting and the movement will help you body to absorb the gas just like when you're up walking around. You can also use a heating pad and keep using the pain meds the doctor gave you too. I noticed I had a hard time burping but found that if I stand up straight or sit up straight and then flex my stomach slightly while slowly bending at the waist it forces out the gas and gave me HUGE relief. Hope this helps.
  8. I had my surgery last Thursday and came back to work on Monday. Monday was very uncomfortable in the office chair. I had to keep getting up and walking around. But it has gotten better each day and today I actually feel great. So yes, ou will be uncomfortable for a little while, but it does go away.
  9. Wow! you were all approved/banded so quickly! It was 10 months for me. My insurance required a 6 month Dr. supervised diet before I would be considered and then they too their sweet a$$ time approving me. Started my process Sept. 2010 and banded on July 28th 2011.
  10. My doctor tells all of his patiens that if he finds a hernia when he goes in that he will repair it and if the fall bladder is bad he will remove it while he's in, but if that's the case, the insurance should have paid for it....unless you were self pay. In any case, if he new that was a possility, he should have told you BEFORE surgery. I would just ask him straight forward if it is a mistake and if it's not then find out why you were not told before surgery.
  11. Sounds like you are following the rules and getting exercise so to that I say WAY TO GO! But it also sounds like you need a larger support group. Are you attending lap band support groups in your local area. That's a great place to meet people face to face that are going through the same thing. And if you befriend someone from that group that lives in your area then you can exercise together and be each others motivation. It's just a suggestion, but I am using this method along with these forums and it really helps me. Good Luck!! And try not to get discouraged, these things take time.

  13. I was banded 7-28-11. Have lost 5 lbs since surgery.
  14. Liquid diet sucks for me. Have found applesauce works well though. Flows through like liquids but a lot more satisfying. I've even had to thoroughly chew some ramen noodles to satisfy the beast a couple of times lol.
  15. I'm on day 4 post op and totally relate about the left shoulder pain. Have been sleeping in a reclined position mostly but trying to sleep on my side tonight. My incision areas are sore if I try to bend over but for the most part I hurt where my hiatal hernia was repaired. Very sore inside. And #2 finally happened for me yesterday. Huge relief. Lol. Can't wait til all the pain is gone and everything is healed. Take a deep breath. This too shall pass.
  16. I'm barely 4 days post op. Been staying at my moms house because I'm a single mom so she could help me with my kids who are 2 & 5 years old. Tonight I decided to come home since mom seemed like she needed a break. My son, the 5 year old, has been sick with fever and upset stomach (getting his 6 year molars in). I was uncomfortable in bed so all 3 of us fell asleep on the couches in the livingroom until I was woke up by my son crying about his stomach hurting. So then we all had to move downstairs so he could go to the bathroom. This is the part where I hurt myself. I had to carry my daughter the 2 year old who weighs 35 pounds and im not supposed to lift more than 20 right now. Now I've noticed some fresh blood under the durabond covering my cuts and it really hurts.
  17. I just had my surgery last Thursday and I'm finding I get hungry about every 3 hours. The thing is though, that by the time I realize I'm hungry, it's more like I'm starving. Maybe I should set a timer to remind myself to eat about every 2 hours and 45 min. It doesn't take much to fill me up, but hunger is a beast lol.
  18. I got home about an hour ago. Feeling pretty good, I borrowed my moms elastic stomach support from her tummy tuck. It really helps a lot. Relieves the pain and helps force out gas. Found some chewable extra strength gas x and that helps and have been drinking kelloggs special k2o for protein. All in all, not bad. Have taken one pain pill since surgery and probably wouldn't have needed that it I hadn't had a hiatal hernia repair but I did and its a little tender. Still I must say it has all gone well and none of it has been unbearable. Good luck to all of you future banders!
  19. Good luck! Make sure u walk a lot to help with the gas and when ur not walking u can move ur arms around while in bed and that helps too.
  20. That's kinda funny that was have the same surgery date and aunt flow came to see us on the same data! Lol. My surgery went well. Still sore and have some gas pain but over all its been fine. How was yours?
  21. Everything went fine. I have to stay in the hospital tonight since I have sleep apnea but that's ok, the bed lifting up makes it so much easier to get up. A little sore in my stomach area and have gas pain in my left shoulder and neck. The gas pain is worse than the stomach pain. Thanks everyone for the well wishes.
  22. Today is the big day! I have to be at the hospital in a little less than an hour. Will check back in as soon as I can to let eveyone know how it went.
  23. It's go time! I have to be at the hospital in one hour from now. I will check back in as soon as I can to let everyone know how it went. Good luck to my fellow banders going in today!
  24. Welcome to the group I am getting banded on July 28th also. Schedule to go in a 6:30 am and can hardly wait! Trying to keep positive and not let any of the negative thoughts enter my brain. Come on Thursday! I am ready to join band land.
  25. I cannot edit my Lap Band Patient Profile. Have tried on several different computers and the active scriptive is enabled. What do I need to do?
