Congratulations!! Keep up the good work.
  3. Eating ice? Well that could be making you cold... but it is also a sign of anemia. You might need more Iron in your diet. Hope the tests provide you answers and has an easy remedy. Good luck.
  4. Awesome post! Very well written. Congratulations on your success! I hope I will be as successful as you. You are truly an inspiration to me.
  5. Well it does sound like you could greatly benefit from the surgery, but only your doctor can decide if you are a good candidate based on your health issues. You will more than likely have to have many, many tests like a lot of here to determine that. This is probably not the answer you were looking for, but I hope it was informative. Good luck.
  6. Mine is just a few inches below my rib cage on my RH side. Doesn't bother me at. High enough from the waist of pants and low enough from my ribs.
  7. Were you told specifially not to swallow capsules by your lapband doctor? My doctor said taking pills is fine. It should disolve in your pouch and then pass through without any problems.
  8. Don't worry, it will get easier with fills. I had a hard time with it too and it got easier after my 2nd fill and even more easier after my 3rd. Now at 4cc's I become full very quickly, but I am hungry much sooner than I was before. So I am finally at the place where I feel like I need to eat every 4 hours. And you will get there too. Be strong. You can do this! Good Luck! :welldoneclap:
  9. The lap band is a device that is secured around the upper portion of the stomach to create a smaller stomach pouch. The band can be tightened by inserting saline through a port that is attached to your abdominal wall. This will allow you to eat small portions and be satisfied for several hours without a hungry feeling. As you lose weight, the band will need to be tightened. You can find out more details at www.lapband.com. You will be able to find a doctor at that site or you can find one on this site by clicking on the surgeons tab in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Most lapband doctors require a referral from your PCP.
  10. First of all, I'm sorry to hear you have had so many complications, but it does seem to me that your body may be rejecting the band you have and if that is the case it may do the same with another band, but then again, band have been upgraded and maybe a new one would work. Now, that being said, I am not a doctor so the best advice I can give is do your research. Check out all aspects of the bypass. You're off to a good start coming here and asking questions. Keep asking. Anything you can think of. That way you can make a well informed decision of what's best for you. My dad had the GB and he lost 100lbs in the first 6-8 months. Then he stalled and has since gained back everything. He still eats small portions, but he eats whatever he wants and eats all day. He never has that full feeling like I have with the lapband. I can eat a small portion and be satisfied, completely not hungry at all for several hours. He does not have 10 bowel movements a day, just the opposite. Has constipation problems. He takes a handful of pills everyday to make sure he gets all the nutrients he supposed to since his insides were re-routed and that causes malabsorption which is supposed to cause the weight loss that he is still struggling with. I am not trying to persuade you in either direction, just stating some facts to help you with you decision.Good Luck. I hope it works out for you.
  11. I ate little bites of things here and there through out my liquid period too. Never more than just a few bites but enough to stop the starvation feeling and amoung those things were ramen noodles. I did not use a straw during my first week post-op but have been ever since then and I have to issues with it. Just listen to your body. Don't over do it. Take things slow with several minutes between each bite so you know when to stop. And you should stop when you have a comfortable full feeling not over stuffed like after Thanksgiving meals. Good Luck, Hope this helps!
  12. Took about 10 days before mine started peeling. It was all gone before I had my first post op check up. Itches doesn't it? It pulled the little hairs on my skin when it came off and that hurt a tiny little bit but it felt so good to have it off.
  13. Mine did that too and I just covered it with neosporin and a band aid and it healed just fine.
  14. I'm six weeks out and finally just this week the scale started moving since surgery. Don't worry, it'll happen. Lapband is slow weight loss. Relax and take a walk.
  15. I think mine looked pretty good by the time I got my first fill, but they did the exact same thing yours are doing. I just put a band aid over them with neosporin to help them heal and it was fine. As long as you don't have a lot of redness around them or fever in them you should be fine. I had a few stitches that didn't disolve and worked their way to the surface. After I pulled those out the healing went much faster. So don't freak out, you should be fine since they're not split wide open and oozing.
  16. :bananajump: Congratulations!!! I will be joing you soon, I have 8 more pounds to go myself! :bananapowerslide:
  17. Count me in for October. Wish I had found this sooner!
  18. I had my gall bladder out 2 years before banding so I wasn't an issue for me, but my surgeon does both at the same time and prefers it that way rather than submit patients to anesthesia and possible infections twice.
  19. I miss pecan pie and krispy creme doughnuts and rotel dip and beer and I need to stop now because I'm making Myself hungry lol.
  20. Maybe you're not getting enough calories. If you're working out that much you need more calories. You're body thinks it's starving and holds onto everything you put into it. Maybe talking to a fitness instructor where you work out could give you better advice on the matter. Good Luck!
  21. I was told not to take anti inflamatories like aleeve, advil, tramodol. ect. Unless it's going to be for a short period of time and then only take it after taking a prilosec to protect the pouch. My doctor said anti inflamatories can eat/burn a hole in the stomach pouch. But thanks for the info on the phentermine!
  22. I was thinking that in this point in time, while I'm in banster hell, it would help keep me from starving. And it DOES work. I lost a lot with it before, I just didn't maintain my habbits when I stopped taking them. I only have about 3cc's right now and I'm hungry all the time. I'm using will power, but it sure would be nice to lose the hungry feeling until I have enough Fluid in my band.
  23. I am in the same place as you. I've only had 2 fills and sometimes I feel like I could chew my arm off. I was doing the same as you for a while and then the will power slowly set it. Now I drink a LOT of water and if I just can't stand it I will get a healthy snack like yogurt to hold me over. I'm still new and trying to adjust just like you, but try to remember, protein first, then veggies. It will help keep you full longer. I am also considering going back to see the nutritionist again. Sometimes I feel like I have all the rules mixed up and need to be refreshed. Good Luck! And don't beat yourself up, starting fresh again is a good way to get back on track.
