1. I wonder that too especially now that I have made lifestyle changes that include eating right most everyday and exercising several times a week. But knowing my previous tendencies, I'm sure I still made the right decision because the band gave the motivation I needed to make it this time. I refuse to be a surgery failure. And it will always be there with me, my security blanket.
2. I drink beer often. I have no problems with it but I count my calories. Having the surgery has not changed the way how fast alcohol affects me. I think it's different for everyone just make sure you account for your calories and take it slow when you have your first drink until you know how it will affect you. And also don't drink until you are fully healed (6-8 wks after surgery).
3. I want one too!
4. I get pain in my left shoulder and sometimes in my neck when I get food stuck. The pain disappears as soon as the food passes through. I really need to force myself to eat more slowly. *kickingmyself*
5. Is that the only support group available in your area? Maybe you can find a different one that isn't so negative. It is supposed to be a SUPPORT group not a discouragment group. If they can't support your decision you may be better off finding a different group and you know you can always come here for plenty of ENcouragement and advice. Good luck and don't let them change your mind about lap band if that's what you truly want.
6. I slacked through out the holidays and am just now starting to get back on track. I managed to maintain without gaining anything but now I'm ready to see the scale start moving again. I want to lose at least 40 pounds by summer so I can wear a swimsuit without being embarrassed. For the past few days I have been drinking my water like I'm supposed to and as of today I am eating right again. Now all I need to do is add in some exercise (which I am planning on going to work out in the morning). Good luck to everyone. Let's all kick our own behinds to stick with it!
7. I know I'm going to get lectured from everyone for tell you this, but I have been drinking beer alot lately since AL football has been great this season and I have not had ANY problems with beer. It affects me the same as before being banded meaning I don't get drunk immediately from just a few and I have not gained any weight from it, in fact I am still losing. So if you are planning on this being a once in a blue moon deal for your birthday then I say by all means enjoy yourself and get a designated driver. Your birthday only comes once a year.
8. First of all, shame on all of you for acting like it's his fault. There is not a thing wrong with eating a hot dog with out the bun or even a tiny piece of the bun and no where in his statement did he say if the bun was included. That doctor and the hospital both should have done an ultrasound, x-ray or floroscopy to check on the band. This guy is not a doctor. He told his doctor what was going on and having no restriction and the man STILL put fluid in without checking to see how much was already in there. That to me seems careless. My doctor always pulls out whats there before giving my anymore to make sure I have no leaks. I say yes. Go for it. Make them pay for your new band and the hospital bill you incurred.
9. Yes, it is amazing! I'm still having some trouble being good, but I am trying. Hopefully when my chiropractor releases me back to zumba that will straighten me out.
10. Really really been needing some new work pants and I didn't want to buy any until I lost some more weight but I gave in. I went out this weekend and bought myself 1 new pair of pants and was happy to be in the next size smaller than I was wearing. One more size to go before I can shop in the "normal" size section.
11. I haven't been eating the way I should be lately and I figure that must be what brought on a dream like this. Maybe it was my subconscience trying to tell me to get back on track. In my dream, the tubing that connects at the band around my stomach (not at the port area) had come loose and it was caused by eating the wrong foods. I had lost all of my restriction and had little air bubbles coming out of the tube making little lumps under my skin. And for some odd reason I was in Australia so I couldn't see my doctor and the doctors there refused to touch me but insisted I would need surgery to correct the issue. So then I was trying to get home to see my doctor for surgery. Weird dream huh? Thank goodness it was only a dream. I think I will try to get back on track starting today....just in case lol.
12. Thanks for sharing! I'm always looking for fast and easy to prepare healthy foods.
13. No, you cannot feel it after everything is healed. I cannot tell it's there at all except when I press on my stomach I can feel a small hard area where my port is.
14. Don't worry. It will come off in time. Right now all you need to do is heal and any weight loss in the process is bonus. You might even gain a little after you get back to reagular food. It will take a few fills before you start having good restirction. For me it was my third fill that gave me restiction so don't be worried if it doesnt happen right away. That is the period everyone calls bandster hell because it's all on you with no help from your tool. Good luck.

16. I was banded on July 28, 2011 and my scale hasn't dropped a whole lot either but my clothes are really baggy. I go through stages when the scale won't move and then it all of a sudden drop a lot and then stays the same and then drops and so on. It's normal I guess. I see a lot people post similar comments. I know how hard it is, but try not to let it discourage you.
17. Right there with you. Not having any success and it's hard to read out other people doing so great. I'm not ready to give up yet, but sometimes I wish I had done the bypass instead.
Good luck. I hope we both get this craziness figured out.

20. I haven't stepped on the scale in over a week now. I've been afraid to after I allowed myself to have fair food. Guess I will do it this Saturday to see where I am.
21. I wear Danskin. You can find it in the ladies department at wal-mart. Comfortable and affordable.
22. Does zumba count toward miles? And if it does, how many miles is an hour of zumba worth?
23. Got my first 3 miles in for the month on Saturday on the elliptical. Can't wait to do some more even if I am still sore from it.
