I've begun my journey towards Lap Band surgery. I'm in the process of getting things taken care of...blood work, sleep study, meeting with the surgeon, etc. My surgery will most likely be next month. The problem is, my husband is in the Army and is serving a tour in Iraq. He won't be back until May of 2010. I feel like I'm all alone in this, and I won't have the support I need. Anyone else out there in my situation?

If all goes well, I could potentially look like a whole new person when he returns home; I'm SO excited.

Congratulations on your decision. I think it will be very exciting to surprise your husband with a new and healthier YOU. I'm sure you can join a support group in the area from your surgeon's office, the best ones all have them. And, you will make lots of friends here too. Good luck and keep positive.

my husband is currently in iraq he actually left right after my surgery i planned my surgery for a few weeks before he left so i had someone take care of me and the kids. i can say it is lonely at times but i do talk to him everyday and get to see him on yahoo messenger web cam so its not that bad. what i ended up doing was channeling my time and focus on our kids and the gym. the gym really helped me out alot so that way i wasnt as depressed as i would have been just sitting at home doing nothing. when he came back for his two week leave about a month and a half ago he was amazed and surprised he said he couldnt believe i lost so much weight and he really couldnt tell through the cam as much as in person. i cant wait for him to be home in august and hopefully by then i will be down to my goal weight which is 27 more lbs to go. and i can tell you the sex is way better lol...... its well worth it...lol

Karen just 27 more pounds to go? Thats fantastic! I hope I do as well as you. I'm planning on joining a gym as well so it should help a lot. Thanks for the support!

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.
    • I'm literally almost crying reading this. Mostly because I'mon this pre-op diet and these last two days have been difficult... but also because I needed this! Thank you! Congrats! And a BIG congrats on quitting smoking a second time! It was hard enough to do it once... So - when I say BIG congrats... I mean BIIIIIG congrats! ❤️

      Einarmige Banditen
